Terrible last 25 minutes, just terrible. I thought we were down a man, not Villa. What a waste of points.

why the ref added only 3 minutes when there was so much time wasting, after the red card and when we had a corner , we waited 2 minutes for the ball, nevermind the 6 substitutions.
It would have been nice if he added more, but let's give the ref a break. We played half an hour against 10 men and the only thing we did was crossing the ball to Guzan.

We're watching a different game then. How is he at fault for the goal, it was a lucky goal which took a deflection, he was standing in a block.
But carry on. You and others who accuse Evans of everything by default.
Did you see that clearance that fell into a Villa player just in front of the 18 yard box? Evans is shit and it's not based on today, he's always been shit.

This thread is going to be a hellhole. Villa played extremely aggressively, and very deep. Their goal was a piece of brilliance.

These results happen, and it's not a disaster.

The guy may only get 25 minutes to play, as he is out of favour (due to injury and fitness).
Why are people so confident that Falcao will score goals in this game?
So far, in all the minutes he has played, he has only scored 1 goal.

Why are people so confident in Falcao's abilities?
He has done nothing of any note for the club so far.
Why is he already a fan's favourite?
Surely he has to do something positive for the club BEFORE he earns this sort of reputation?

Perhaps I am getting my facts wrong - can someone fill me in?

fecking shambles from Van Gaal today.

Got the team formation wrong in the first half. Then in the 2nd half we finally revert back to a 4 man backline and guess what? We dominate.

Then he goes and takes off RVP for a clearly unfit Di Maria. Ok fine.

The crazy thing is he throws on James Wilson who lets face it, hasn't looked close to scoring a goal. Then switching Young away from his prefered left flank took the take. Mata should have come off and RVP should have stayed on.

We got it completely wrong today and couldn't take advantage of a weak ass feck villa side.

Evans was terrible too. Made benteke and co. look like world beaters. Jones wasn't much better either, but at least his defending isn't under question. Just his passing.

3 points lost when we should have done so much better.

Taking off RVP was a mistake, and as much as I think Wilson is one for the future, he isn't ready yet. Di Maria wasn't much better but he's just coming back from injury.

Really disappointing, and a minor reminder why we are not ready for a title challenge (yet), but onwards and upwards, really need Shaw and Rafael back.

Meh result. Performance wasn't great but at least we didn't lose. Could easily have lost our last 4 games though, which is concerning.

Tbh apart from having a few better players and a different change of formations we are playing the same football we did under moyes.

So so so slow and telegraphed, yeh we won 6 games ona trot with some absolutely dreadful performances in them also might I add but when you really analyse our games van gal really has not changed much at all.

Really dire stuff. Not sure how some of you can suggest that everything is all fine and good watching us play like that. A man up and they almost scored a few times. Silly stuff. We need another 150 million pounds spent on new players to actually have a squad anywhere near the title. Chelsea and City are acres in front of us. I still feel we can fall out of the top 4 before this season is over. I pray I am wrong.

I am happy with the 1-1 draw. After the poor first half display we did well to get the goal. Taking the poor Fletcher off and moving Carrick up the pitch helped a lot. Perhaps we could have got the winner since we were against 10 men but the draw was probably a fair result.

I didn't like several decisions by van Gaal today:

    - starting Fletcher: I have a lot of respect for the guy but he's not cut out to be a starter for us anymore, especially in such a crucial position within the 3-5-2. We looked a lot better when Carrick was moved forward and Blackett came on.

    - taking van Persie off: Not only did him and Falcao link up well, but against this Villa side with the small counter attacking chances we had, we needed somebody with his hold-up play a lot more than Wilson, who was essentially a non-factor.

    - having di Maria and Young switch sides: Young was doing well on the left and putting a lot of pressure on Villa while di Maria was able to cut inside with his strong left foot from the right as he likes to do. van Gaal neutered them both with that decision.

Overall, a very gutless performance. They go down to 10 men and end up being more aggressive and dangerous than us. When Agbonlahor was sent off, that should've given us even more incentive to pressure them.

3-5-2 can die a horrible horrible death.

We look utterly clueless in that formation and yet players are being played out of position so that we can play that horrible formation.

    Back to the Diamond please.

Stupid comment, last year he was our best defender, he's not shit at all.

The fact is with the amount of injuries we have we were bound to drop points eventually. Every week we fail to get our strongest team. Herrera comes back, Di Maria gets injured, Di Maria comes back, Herrera gets injured....

Rooney will never be a midfielder, should be just played up top, where his strengths lie
Am i remembering the game wrong? Wasn't Rooney our best midfielder until Carrick moved up?

Mata was useless for me, Wilson did nothing and moving Young to the right was a mistake

That was nothing short of a lazy, effort-free, pointless and apathetic performance from a bunch of so-called "professionals" who looked like they couldn't give a crap. We've been going on about being title contenders but after a wonderful run of wins against tough opponents, we've gone back to being wholly incompetent against a ten-man Villa side who had one solitary win in nine matches. This quite frankly isn't good enough and those lads should be ashamed of themselves today.

it was a braindead decision to move Young from left to right. On the left he was our best player by a mile - so why we would move him away from there is beyond me. And how the 4th official could give 3 minutes added time is insane. The situation with Young alone was 2 minutes and for over a minute we couldn't get a throw in because the Villa-fans threw the ball away. Add to that a few substitutions and we should have had 6 minutes

But - the way we played - Villa were just as likely to score

Only watched from minute 75 on and what a saw was piss poor. i read young was good the first half? well, in the last 15 minutes he had like 4 or 5 situations with enormous amounts of space in front of him and he did nothing. i always thought how awesome it would be to have shaqiri out there. 1 on 1 against midtable defenders, he would cut into the box 4 out of 5 times.

Ridiculous decision to take rvp off then eventually bring Wilson on to go back to the same formation. Why not take mata off first, keep two up top, then swap rvp if they haven't got it done by then?

Rvp is in great form. Silly subs

Feels like one of those days where LvG's stubbornness got the better of him. We should be winning games like these, but there was just no penetration apart from crosses. When you have Rooney, di Maria, Mata, van Persie and Falcao on the pitch, that's piss poor. We have to be able to create through the middle with players of that calibre.

Frustrating finish to the game. We are shite against 10 men. Don't think Valencia should have came off, young should have stayed on the left. Mata was shite.

At least we got a draw, always hard to have a prolonged run of wins but at least we didn't lose.

Di Maria is wasted out wide. If we came him in the middle we would have won that game.

Also I was suprised RVP was taken off and not Mata.

Now this isn't a slight on young but how come we paid £60 odd million for a winger yet all our play at the end and our go to man was young??

Young should have been kept on the left, he had the beating of Lowton. Worring amount of hoofball as well. Now let's hammer the barcodes next match

I like Fletcher, but he shouldn't be playing and shouldn't have started today

Dissappointing. Terrible with his substitutions today again. Di Maria needs top play in midfield. Hope lot of ppl feck off here with the "we gonna win the league" .. We need a decent CM and CB. Once again gutless performance.
