BBC sport reporting this interview from ADM

"I am very happy to join Paris St-Germain. They're very important."

Neither club has yet confirmed that the player's move has gone through.

Aspetar, a specialist sports hospital in Doha, announced on its Twitter feed on Tuesday that the player was there "for a medical test ahead of a proposed move".

Di Maria added: "They made it to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, so my objective was to arrive to Paris and to help them through the quarter-final barrier, because they have struggled in the past two seasons.

"I will try to do the best I can to help the club in those objectives and reach the final stages of the Champions League."
If I were a PSG fan, I'd think he could do better than that. Very Important? To help them through the quarter final barrier? Eh?

Compare to Scheweinsteiger - Q: you have achieved everything, what's your challenge? R: To win trophies.

Medical passed? At least the Cnut succeeded at something this year.
Jesus, how long has this dragged on?

I want the cnut gone asap. What's he doing now? Too tired to sign the contract today?
"Medical passed"

cnut couldn't pass a ball for the last 7 months

I think he has good reason to criticize LvG, though not blame him for everything. Clearly LvG did not help Di Maria to find his best form or encourage him to perform, and in the end, he benched him for Young...

Young played well, so it's not my intention to disparage him, but you should play your star players in the end, even when they hit a rough patch. A big part of the Di Maria failure was indeed LvG.
Rubbish, no player deserves to be kept in the team of he is playing bad, you have 2 players for the same position one is playing well and your star player is shite, pretty simple for me, you other player starts and you star player is sat on the bench and you hope he takes his chance when brought on.

Those jumping the gun and saying Madrid will get 8m pounds from his sale, thus further increasing our "loss" also needs to bear in mind (before jumping the gun) that the full 59,8m quid would probably also not have been paid, as a portion of it was surely "performance based".

Truth is, at this point we don't really no how much of a loss we're actually making because we're not privy to the contract(s) information.

No ones jumping the gun. Just deluded Real fans who think their club plays everything perfectly.

How can Madrid get a fee that was contingent on him achieving something that he did not? Doesnt make much sense unless they was a penalty clause, which too would highly be unlikely as they was no evidence that we planned to sell him a year after buying him..

LOL @ certain people are being so precious on here. It's good riddance to player who's proven unable to rise to a challenge and who couldn't give a feck for half a season but happily collected a king's ransom for his "efforts". Talked a big game about wanting to prove himself but then ran as soon as he could. What about that *doesn't* make him a cnut, especially to us fans?

Don't wish injury on him but also don't wish him any success, unlike Rafael, RVP, Nani, Cleverley and even Falcao.

Yeah agreed. Just read a couple of posts mentioning "how big our loss" on him will be etc.

Id like to believe that Ed Woodward that has worked for some of the biggest financial institutions in the world knows a thing or two about this contracts and how to mitigate losses, as compared to some journalists who simply conclude that we made a 15 mil loss, irregardless of the specifics of the contract

I know everyone is p!ssed off with the situation but that's not a good enough reason to write him off as a rubbish player. I am very disappointed he's gone he is a top class player and it is concerning why such a player chose to leave within 12 months of joining, I would hope it's because of personal reasons rather than professional, you don't sign a lucrative long term contract for a record fee just to leave in 12 months.

People are saying he's mentally weak, but watching his performances with Madrid and Argentina in previous seasons he never showed any signs of this, works his socks off, willing to play in numerous positions, determined and willing to try and make things happen all the time. It just doesn't make sense there has to be more to it then just getting scared because of an attempted burglary, these things happen in Rosario, Lisbon and Madrid.
He never truly wanted to be here, and when he got bullied on the pitch he gave up.

With good reason... doesn't matter what he did for Madrid (where he wasn't the big fish) or Argentina (still not the biggest fish) - when he came here, when he was the star man, and the pressure was really on, he caved.

We ridiculously overpaid for him, he turned out to be the sterotypical 'But can he do it on a wet night in Stoke' player, yet we still managed to only lose £15m. I see this as the clawing back of a victory, to be honest. I've rarely seen such poor displays from such a vaunted player as I saw from Di Maria after his first few games.

I don't hold a grudge against di Maria. It just didn't work out for both sides. Di Maria didn't fit into LvGs plans, Manchester United isn't the right club for di Maria (weather, league, etc.). There's always a risk with a player from abroad. It's the same when Barcelona brought Ibrahimovic and he dind't fit into Guardiolas system. The club handled it in the best way. Sold him as soon as possible to a club elsewhere for an acceptable price.

I'm happy with that and now we can look forward to the weekend when our season starts and do the best with the squad we have.

I'm looking forward to his first PSG press conference. There'll be van Gaal bashing there, and in an open letter if there is one.
Im not looking forward to any of it. Last thing we need is Lvg and adm taking ylshots at each other. Hope adm will just say it didnt work out or something and be done with it.

How so?

van Gaal made it pretty clear he wasn't the star man and just another part of the team.

The mentally weak suggestions are overstated. He doesn't want to be here, van Gaal doesn't want him here, and there's a team willing to bail him out of his "prison". Everything he's done in his career would suggest he is far from mentally weak.

He didn't really say many bad things about Real, so not sure he'll say much regarding LVG. Yeah we don't really need that, what is going to be funny is that I can bet we will draw PSG in our UCL group

Fully expect him to say something along these lines. He was very professional when he was forced out from Madrid. Don't see his stance changing, under these circumstances.
