The defence are showing signs of being panicky again. This is likely due to a keeper who doesn't inspire confidence. As Schweinsteiger tired our play slowed right down too.

It's weird how long it takes our forwards to make a decision too.

That way that half progressed was disappointing, given our performance in the first 15 - 20 minutes. It looked as though frustration crept in when an early goal didn't come. A combination of poor crossing, poor decision making and lazy passing broke our rhythm. By the end, we were quite poor. Hopefully Van Gaal can steady the ship.

Rooney struggled again, I thought. I've been a supporter of his, and he's obviously still got good games in him, but he's simply not doing the job at the moment. He's really struggling to lead the line, and I'm starting to wonder if he has the attributes to do it anymore. He used to be such a bulldog. Now, he seems to lack pace, explosiveness and aggression. He just doesn't look that hard to play against.

I expect to see Fellaini before too long if this keeps up. Also, there's no way Schweinsteiger will last 90 minutes.

To be fair it was offside... It was close but it was offside.

Schweinsteiger has played well... Dunno why people are calling for Carrick? It's 0-0 are we shutting up shop?

That's far from a great half. We were good for about 15-20 minutes, but incredibly wasteful. Then back to normal for the last 25 or so.

Good half, team played quite well. We should've score in the first 20 minutes, and in reality we actually did. Newcastle crawled back into the game, but we should really aim to start off strongly and score early in the second half.

The first 20 minutes was the best football I have seen us play for a very long time. Rooney is getting there and is improving for every game now same goes for Januzaj who has been very good today, Memphis needs to do better with his final ball but you can really see the guy will be class player in the future. The ref was the big negative in the first half Rooneys goal should have stood and he missed a lot of fouls on Januzaj.

What fecking game is Don Hutchinson watching. These so called experts sound ridiculous the game just doesn't fit their narrative !!
According to them, there are like 4 or 5 types of games throughout the history of football. Their job is basically to try and fit whatever they're watching to one of those types.

People are not being honest here but United lost the midfield battle after that blistering start...control is very important in games and in this 1st half United have not been.
    Wijnaldum is beasted that half.

Our attack is just so toothless. There's hardly any goals in it at all.

We'll be seeing a lot of low scoring games this season.

This is why getting Howard Webbs opinion is pointless. He's never going to admit an official made a mistake. If that Rooney goal is offside by the letter of the law then they need to change the rules because flagging for that is just ridiculous. He's absolutely level and I don't care if his flapping shirt is 0.2 of a millimetre offside.

Hopefully we'll start the second half with the same intensity and get a couple of goals.

Decent half and played some great stuff in the first 15mins

Memphis, although has been wasteful at times has looked very bright. He will get it with more experience but he will be a wonderful player for us.

Nothing is happening down the right hand side, Mata is coming into his favourite position which leaves us bare on the right then.

Adnan needs to be stronger in the no.10 position although he has some classy moments.

Bastian made a great burst through midfield in the first 10mins, something we haven't seen for a while from our midfielders but now it's become too 'safe' again. We need more. Maybe he's out of gas already? We will see but he's been again decent so far.

Should be 1-0 up but let's get at them again second half and keep the winning run going :)

    Definitely onside.
TBH every time I see it at full speed he looks off - lino doesn't have the benefit of slo-mo and a line drawn across the pitch

.. and who would have expected such a burst of "speed" from Rooney :D

Good first 20 mins, awful 2nd. We look tired and are chasing shadows at times, mata especially is looking very tired and not being effective at all. Get young on as there is plenty of space.

Memphis doing well but should have scored, Been a bit on and off. We need to be much better with the pace 2nd half as we be passed backwards and built up far too slowly.
Mata has been the best player on the pitch.

Memphis one of the most wasteful.

Are we watching the same match?

I have no idea either, yet.
The big picture is United started a lot better, managed to capitalize on it but it was disallowed. After that there were some more chances that weren't finished off and Newcastle managed to get into the game. United have clearly been better but more mistakes have followed as the game progressed.
Fair enough, if you see enough invention and speed in our attack then I hope what you see is right.

He has. But he's also been incredibly wasteful at times by overpaying. It's the nature of the beast though.
Precisely my friend... He's going to be hit and miss because of the way he plays. At least he's trying to make things happen.

That said this whole thing down (whether fouled or not) and staying on the ground to make a point just stop. It's really annoying and doesn't help us. He needs to get up and get on with it.

    @Damien

Can you temporarily add something like "Fellaini is banned" to the title? Every other post is about bringing Fellaini on.

I don't know what the NBC match day song is, but it is fecking shite and gets on my nerves.

    *Together as oneeee*
    Feck off
That's on BT as well, and I distinctly remember hearing it even years ago. It sounds like the jingle from a supermarket commercial.

Rooney looked offside from the replays actually.
They showed the replay several times on NBC and everyone rather agreed it was onside. Linesmen must have forgotten that the advantage MUST go to the attacker if the decision is not 100% a certainty.

The only one that looks likely to score is Memphis. Herrera on for Schweinsteiger and Young on for Januzaj with Mata moving into the #10 position will do us good.
