Odion Ighalo has admitted he would find a move to Manchester United difficult to turn down if they came calling.

The Nigeria striker has fired 14 goals in 20 Premier League games this season and only Romelu Lukaku and Jamie Vardy have been more prolific this season.

The 26-year-old’s form has been noticed all across Europe and Atletico Madrid and Roma are believed to be tracking his progress, but the player, who signed permanently from Udinese in October 2014, has stated his desire to stay at Vicarage Road.

Hornets boss Quique Sanchez Flores is desperate to keep hold of the player, whose contract expires in the summer of 2017.

But quotes attributed to him in The Sun suggest an offer from his boyhood club United would turn his head.

“There has been speculation from Spain and Italy but I’ve played there and now want to play in England,” Ighalo told The Sun.

“I don’t think I will be moving, but I’m not sure I’d say no if United called.

“They were my team growing up. I loved watching Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke on TV.

“They were my idols and playing at Old Trafford has always been a dream.”

I haven't watched Watford much but from what I've heard and been told he's been pretty impressive up top for them with Deeney. Is he good enough for United?

Fecking sign him

Would be a good January transfer I reckon. Has been in excellent form.

He is tall, strong, fast, good finisher and always working hard.

There's obviously no way in predicting how a player could turn out for a bigger club, but if he'd be happy with being a (medium to long term) squad player for us, at a reasonable fee, sign him up.

But, as a starting XI, we need to try and sign real quality up top, whether that is as a CF or wide attacker role.

This old chestnut, not a dig at you by the way just that often used question.
I think he is to be fair but then I also think that of the likes of Berahino. Would he be marquee signing...no but would he improve us in attack I'd say yes. These are the kind of player I thought we'd go in for this window but it still seems we are above these types of player and will only chase highly unattainable targets whilst continuing to struggle on the pitch.

Would be a very good transfer IMO. He scored lots of goals last season as well (albeit in the Championship) and seems to have reached a higher level just like Mahrez has.

He's strong, hard-working and is a great finisher. Would fit right in.

We actually have no back up striker.... NONE

He's been really impressive this season. Not only scoring goals, but hard working, tireless, and great hold up play. I think he could be a really good January signing.

He's exactly the type of player we should be looking to sign in January. Attainable, good age, hard-working, excellent finisher, seems to be constantly improving and by all accounts seems he is a United fan. Can't see many negatives in it to be honest.

A player who scores goals in the P.L - that makes him good enough.

Interesting he mentions Cole because he really reminds me of him. He has that tenacity and work rate to get chance after chance, even if he isn't as prolific as the real top draw strikers.

If he was the only option I'd take a punt personally.

I'd welcome every striker that can offer us options up front, even in Remi or Ba caliber.

I think I'd actually prefer for us to buy proven Premier League players/goal-scorers rather than dip into the overseas market. There is some absolutely cracking talent in our own backyard, that I think people dismiss because they're not as exciting as signing someone from abroad.

Let other clubs take punts on overseas talent, and we'll hoover them up when they're proven in England.

Hmmm... Google have his height at 6ft 1" ... but Wikipedia says he's 5ft 10"

Frankly, we can't have this kind of indecision around the club. Do not want.

He'll be sussed out next season and I'm pretty sure there is zero interest from us.

Memphis has been horrible on the right. We need him there! Sign him up!

Jokes apart. I really like the goals he has been scoring. Real poacher and a grafter. Need him here!

To the well known Failcow chant, it's on.

Have been very impressed from what I have seen of him. Good finisher, strong, quick and hold up play is also good.

Though I would be interested to see how he does as a lone striker or without Deeney who seems to do most of the donkey work and occupy defenders.

We're probably not even half interested.... sigh

How do you guys rate Deeney by the way?

I think both Ighalo and Deeney are very good players.

He is tall, strong, fast, good finisher and always working hard.

He's 5ft 10.
He doesn't work that hard (Deeney does the donkey work for him).
He's fast over short distances.

I like him, strong, got some skill and pace and scores goals, he's the ideal January signing to bolster our biggest weakness and then become a squad player after the summer.

I'd sign him just to bring this chant back.

I do have a soft spot for any player who specifically wants to play for United. There's a passion that comes with it that you just don't get with the Di Maria galactico's of this world. I also think there's some real potential there. If he were fairly cheap (helped by the fact he'd presumably push hard for the) transfer) I'd be all for it.

I would be happy with this signing - better than Vardy IMO. His stats (both in terms of goals and underlying stats) are incredible and if you watch him he backs this up - so dangerous
