Walter Crickmer started it all...
United are entering the Premier League International Cup this year.

Matches will be played from August to May with 12 teams from England and 12 teams from mainland Europe.

A group stage of four teams will drawn with three matches to be played in those early stages. There are mo home and away ties...strictly group stages then knock-out.

There will be six groups with the top placed teams going into the last 8. The two best runner's up will also qualify for the last 8.

Overall...if you get through to the final it is a maximum of six games. No difference to the UEFA Youth League last season so no more additional games for United.

So why haven't we played in this before? Why aren't we playing in the EFL trophy? Why do we apparently moan about the lack of fixtures yet continuously turn down the chance for more fixtures?

The EFL matches are on international duty weeks that's why a lot of clubs turned it down due to potential shortage of players.

All the games have always been played in England, even the ones between the two European teams. Wycombe and Millwall's grounds were used last year for those ties.
