How on earth has he not given a penalty and a red card.

Oh yes, it's Clattenburg, that's why it wasn't given.

It's a blatant red, obviously. If it was outside the box it probably would've been given Clattenberg bottled it.

Stone wall red and penalty. Could have been a totally different game in the second half.

Didn't think you could get a penalty and a red card this season? Or can you still get a red for dangerous play? Or is it just denying a goalscoring opportunity?

a red card offence is still punished with a red, even if a penalty is given.

In this case it would be a red for 'excessive force'

Gif anyone? Only saw at full speed and thought Clatters called it well. Evidently not?

Finally someone made this thread. Usually it seem that threads are made when only United players should be sent off.

It was a clear red but tbf I only saw that during the replay. It's always more difficult to see when both players slide tackle like that, if Rooney would have been standing up either the ref or the linesman would have seen it.

If we score the penalty and it's 2-2 with them down to 10 we might be having a different conversation about this game. Fine margins at the top level and this decision is just baffling.

Studs up, no regard to his opponent, even if you get the ball you can get dismissed for such a tackle due to the recklessness of it.

Clattenberg decided it was no penalty.

Terrible refereeing from him today. He booked Fellaini because Otamendi accidentally ran into his arm, but was happy to let City play on after one of theirs smashed Herrera in the face. Bizarre.

Two footed, blatant penalty and a red. That lineman also missed a handball.
That linesman near the Stretford End gave absolutely everything to city.

Also, city usually these days are lucky with ref's. Aguero should have been off too and they should have been playing with 10 vs Hammers.

If Aguero's elbow deserved ban this should as well, horrible challenge. Joe Hart is laughing his ass off in Turin.

how that is not a straight red card, I will never ever ever ever ever know.

Still not the most ridiculous decision Clattenburg's made against us. That dí Maria red card just because he touched his shoulder is in a league of it's own. The amount of times since then a players touched a ref (even Clattenburg himself) and nothing, not even a talking to from it, was given is bizarre.

Would have been interesting to see if Rooney went into the challenge like Bravo what decision would have been given, especially if the ball went in the net

Yep when Herrera made that turn, De Bruyne just clattered him with the ball being miles away. Absolutely terrible ref

I haven't seen it again, but it sounds like it should have been a red/pen

Looking at the replay it looks a penalty, in real time I can see why it wasn't given.
Thought Clattenburg was good to City today.

"But from June 1, the red card will be downgraded to a yellow if the foul was an attempt to play the ball. Handball, grappling, and violent conduct are still red-card offences though. Cloggers beware."

That's from a telegraph article before the Euro's. So isn't Bravo's tackle an attempt to play the ball?

That was oliver bud.

Ah that one, never ever a penalty for me. No intent whatsoever and we'd be fuming if that was given against us.

Didn't they change the rules? If it actually blocks the path of the ball it's a handball or am I imagining stuff?

We definitely got a raw deal from Clattenberg today. Penalty bottled and was very reluctant to give fouls for us. But it's not his fault we lost.

Clear pen. But when has Clattenburg ever given us anything? He is probably a closet Liverpool fan.

Could someone post the handball from Otamendi? Think it's a clear pen as well.
