Obertans #1 fan.
In what was an otherwise excellent day of fantastic football, great tactics and some other clubs dropping points this was a decidedly low point.

You don't boo your own players. Especially when he tries his best.

Agreed. It was cringey as feck.

Would much rather not be associated with that sort of fan.

As angry as I am at him for giving away that penalty I felt really bad for him when that happened. He is still a human and it must feel awful to be booed by your own fans.

Yep. What's the point in making someone feel like shit? Like seriously, its bad for a player to be booed by opposition fans, although its expected, to be booed by your own fans must be a horrible, horrible feeling. Also, I feel to see what it achieves. The morons that booed, did it make them feel any better? Will it encourage Fellaini to play better?

Match going fans have a very different opinion of the squad to fans on here.

Or something.

I agree that we shouldn't boo our own players but couldn't it be argued they were booing the decision to bring him on rather than the player himself?

You could visibly see him react when his name was announced just as he was about to be subbed and the boo's began. Felt really bad for him.

The guy deserves some major props for how professional he's remained after all the shit that the fans have been giving him over the years. He just gets on with it and continues to always give his all for the team. However you feel about the guys footballing ability he deserves alot of respect, and all those who've booed him and jeered him at the games can feck right off as far as i'm concerned.

It was disgusting to hear that today. Old Trafford was embarrassingly quiet today, you could of heard a pin drop the atmosphere was that bad and then some of the fans have the cheek to get up and boo one of our own players. Please all sell your season tickets and find another club to support.

Yeah, it's like a season ticket turns them in to a bunch of self entitled pricks, who think they have the right to boo their own players because they've spent a few quid. Totally forgetting that their job as a football fan is to encourage and get behind your players. But hey, they've paid money and they expect entertainment, right? Maybe be better off going to a pantomime then.

I feel sorry for him, consistently played out of position since he got here.

I just don't see what booing him achieves. It's as clear as day that he made a mess against Everton and that we're by and large dissatisfied with his 101 appearances for us, but is booing him going to get him out of the squad and out of the club any quicker?

They have more right to boo players than you do to call them self entitled pricks and tell them how they should behave.

One of the most disappointing things seen at Old Trafford in years. Completely out of order.

Was wondering when this thread was going to pop up. Not like it isn't being discussed to death in other threads.

Red Card for Casemiro!
We have done it before with Nani (who was far less deserving considering what he's achieved with this club).
I remember that, yes. That was really bad, too. There was a debate on the Caf about that, too. I thought that was a frustrated one off.

Didn't think it was surprising at all. Probably the only time they opened their mouths all game from those who booed him.
I have never been to OT myself, but I keep hearing and reading about the great atmosphere, especially from the hardcore away- going fans.

I'm a match goer too and no they don't have the right and I do have the right to call them self entitled pricks when they embarrass my club, like they did today.

Most season ticket holders didn't boo him and large numbers applauded to try and drown out the embarrassing fans that did...

Agreed and its bang out of order. Classy touch from Mourinho to public back him.

What was really fecking spectacularly stupid was they could easily have rattled him into repeating a mistake similar to the one he made at Everton. His head must have been all over the place, coming on to that reception. Our own fans contributing to dropped points. Idiots.

Nail. Head.

Still disagree with booing personally and have never done it when at OT. but match going fans pay a lot of money, so they can do what they want (within reason).

Shame really, although hes been shit recently he played a big part in us wining the fa cup last season.

I was surprised he got booed again when coming on, can't condone it. I will get mad at players when they make mistakes or do stupid shit like everyone else, but while they play for us you've got to support and motivate them. Absolute disgrace.

Sport has always been pantomime. We create heroes and villains and romantic narratives out of objectively silly things.

Booing players for their race or sexuality is disgusting, horrible and all the other hyberbolic words being tossed around today...booing them for being unpopular or shit is, meh.

Go tell the Stretford End then, it was during his warm up when he went near them.

Oh, I'm not suggesting all season ticket holders did, no way and I was proud of the ones who tried to drown out the boos, with applause. I'm just talking in general that some people believe that having a season ticket, gives them the right to act like spoilt kids.

The exact same right, more like.

Back the players and they deserve all the plaudits for doing more than the keyboard warriors to support the team. If they act like twats though, then they should get called out as twats.
