One of the best rock bands of all time, if you ask me.

They have consistently been good right from the 80s.

Kiedis has a unique style and writes songs that suit him to the T.

Frusciante is a great guitarist, but they replaced him with Klinghoffer who is great as well.

Anyway their new album The Getaway will be out shortly. A single called Dark Necessities is here and it's quality.

Never been able to get in to them. Individually, Chad Smith, Flea and Frusciante are incredible musicians. Keidis is an incredibly versatile vocalist as well. But put it all together and it does nothing for me.

I think they all compliment each other incredibly well, as well as being good individually.

Kiedis, Frusciante, Flea, Chad Smith is a strong line up. Right up there with the best band line ups in rock history.

Their albums from Blood Sugar Sex Magik to Stadium Arcadium are pure pleasure to listen to.

I coincidentally purchased Kiedis' book 'Scar Tissue' the other day and am looking forward to reading it, heard good things.

I'd love to see them live, I worshipped them during my teens. BSSM, Californication and By The Way  But I have absolutely no interest in their new stuff. Stadium Arcadium had some decent tracks but I didn't even bother with anything they've done since.

I did listen to BSSM, Californication and By The Way a lot when I was a teenager too. Lost interest after that and don't really rate them now. Kiedis' rapping (if that's what we call it?) and lyrics are pretty horrendous. They'd probably be a load of fun live though.

Also, I only just got the Californication/fornication pun there as I was typing it out. The title of the TV show suddenly makes a lot more sense to me now.

Never liked the band, but that's a good read.

Their lyrics are pure and utter drivel. One of the most over-rated bands in history.

Ironic coming from Nick Cave really, what has he ever done worth taking notice of?

Don't get it, never have, never will.

Never a good sign for a band when your best song is a cover.
Opinions granted and all mate but that's, politely speaking, a leathery old ballsack of an opinion!

I'm just 'casual listener' and I think they have plenty of good tracks. Dani Calafornia, Snow, Give It Away, Cant Stop, Zephyr Song, By The Way, Charlie, Under the Bridge, Higher Ground, Californiacation etc....

It'll go along nicely with the 4, 5, 6 or however many leathery ball sacks that create whatever it is they decide to call music. Not too mention the legions of leathery old ballsacks that continue to pay for their albums and over-priced live shows.

Theyre a casual listener sort of band. So many good tracks but nothing thats going to blow your mind. Still, theres not many bands that can stay so consistently good for so long.

These were my favourite band growing up by far, I had all their cds and watched them live a bunch of times but i never realised how bad the lyrics were. Now I only like a few of their songs and they are the ones off early albums. I never even listened to their stuff after Frusciante left, he was my favourite and I just knew they wouldn't hold up without him, also his solo work is bizarre.

Used to love them and then they morphed into a new version of Genisis in terms of producing boring formula music.

I heard they were terrible live these days. Not really into the more funk style stuff they do, but Californication is a great record front to back.

I quite like them, although I feel I'm slightly alone in being more into their latter work (Californication onwards). Speaking of Californication, that title track has one of my favourite music videos.

Frusciante is probably my favourite living musician on the planet. Absolutely love Mother's Milk, BSSM, Californication and By the Way. Stadium Arcadium is a great record too, but for some reason it just feels too over-produced to be a Chili Peppers record. I like the raw, stripped-down sound they had on their earlier records much more. It just suits them as a band. They've always been a live band more than anything, and spending months in the studio perfecting their albums just doesn't capture that vibe as much.

I'm seeing them live in September, but I don't really know what to expect. I haven't followed them since John left the band, apart from quick listens to their new stuff and a couple of Youtube videos of them playing their old classics.

They lost me with Stadium Arcadium, it felt incredibly flat and boring.

I've seen them live 3 times, once they were decent... and twice they were complete and utter shite.

I went to see them play live this week. My first RHCP show. It was fantastic. Flea and Anthony Kiedis were running and dancing all over the stage. Klinghoffer was quiet but would have sudden bursts of excitement. He and Flea were great. Chad Smith is a funny person. Flea was walking on his hands on the stage at one point. The atmosphere was electric. Lots of hardcore RHCP fans. Place was packed.

I remember Californication as being one of the biggest albums growing up. That and Chocalate Starfish were pretty much my first "adult" albums that I listened to as a kid. I loved that album - my one brother is a decade older then me, and he loved the Chili Peppers when he was growing up. I guess we kind of bonded over the Chili Peppers when Californication came out. Listened to By the Way, but it wasn't the same. Can't seem to avoid them if you listen to the radio in the last year or so, but I can't really say I am a big fan anymore to be honest. I haven't really listened to either or their last two albums

They seem like really good people though, Flea was in Big Lebowski, so there's that. And I think it reflects well on them that they have been able to stay together so long

I always thought Porcelain was this amazing, underrated song that, in light of the entire tone of the album, is really odd for a band like Red Hot Chili Peppers. Its beautiful though
