Rashford was immense, way better than any other player on the pitch. Ibra is a great player and o hope he stays one more year, but he needs to play far less. Its obvious how tired he is and who can blame him at his age.

Lingard is overated, but a good squad player. Cannot wait for Shaw and Martial to get there form back. Imagine tony and shaw on either flank, rashord at top infront of Griezman and Martial! Pace pace pace. Pogba miki and ander behind them although im still mot convinced by pogba, i think he is trash.

Agreed. Exhausted, elated but a bit angry we had to scrape through like that. Pogba needs to be dropped.

Am I the only one, or does it look like Ibra could not give a feck out there? He was playing the same way that Di Maria did towards the end of his time here.

A game that went on 30 minutes longer than it should have. There were more than enough chances to go through in the 2nd half, naturally we fluffed all of them.

I really think the entire team suffered tonight with Ibrahimovic at striker. I'm not exactly sure what he was trying to do for a lot of the game. In the 1st half, he spent most of his time so far from goal that he couldn't pose any kind of a serious threat. It looked as if he was playing mainly to service Rashford but he visibly had trouble keeping pace with everything Rashers was doing. His performance in the 2nd half, when he began to get positions in front of goal, was even worse. I'm sorry to see him get injured but his play before that was worthy of him being dropped. I'm on the fence ATM on whether Ibra should be kept for next season.

Rashford was far and away the best player on the pitch, absolutely superb even with the open run at goal that he fluffed. He is ready for greater responsibilities in the team and I look forward to seeing him get a run at striker with Ibra out.

Outside of the poor finishing, I think we were quite solid. The goal we allowed was the obvious blemish. It looked as if we might be able to grab another 1 or 2 after Mkhitaryan's goal but Rojo going off disrupted the back 4 and for a spell we let Anderlecht back into it. Blind was atrocious after coming on and it's clear to see why Mourinho doesn't like playing him. He improved as the game went on, to be fair, but it usually takes him time to settle into a game and we just saw the results of that. Mourinho apparently doesn't trust him, so I think his days are numbered with us.

Mkhitaryan gave another energetic performance and I think he'll be key to us winning this competition or not. Martial I thought was excellent after he came on, he helped to open up the game. Very pleased with Shaw. Valencia a beast again. Romero with a fine match in goal.

I'm still skeptical that we can do this trophy. The other 3 teams are very tough and the chance-wasting may finish us in the end. I'll give us a 7 out of 10 since I thought we played a very professional game with some mettle shown in extra time.

WTF - The guy is over 35yrs old, and has played the most minutes after Pogba. It should not be surprising that he is getting tired at the end of the season.

Wow!! We made it hard for ourselves quite incredibly. When we could dominate them all day and they were not even parking bus

Fecking Zlatan screwing every single thing up. Everyone else was good but our fecking finishing is still terrible.
Not just the chances that he misses, what else is he offering? His general play has become so poor and slow, it almost cost us. Same for his laziness

Yes if we come 5th. I'm not sure if we come 4th though.

P.S. are you Shamoil's mate?
If we come 4th and win the EL then it'll be only the top 4 teams to reach CL. The extra place is only given to a team winning EL or CL without qualifying from the league ( not achieving top 4 )

We were sloppy and complacent through out. Only Romero, Shaw and Rashford of the starters and Fellaini off the bench deserve any credit
I thought Mkhi did well. Lots of running, tackling and through balls. Shame most of it, including Rashford's one-on-one chance, didn't materialize into goals.

I'm not at all convinced about Bailly. He is rather weak at headers. For someone as big and tall as he is, he should be winning aerial battles more often.

So we're blaming Ibra for the chances all the others missed then? It wasn't just him.

I am hoping this is sarcasm. The atmosphere was electric last night. Unreal.
Yeah, by the away fans. Even Mourinho applauded them. Home fans were disgracefully quiet, and the team needed them.

United fans truly are a bunch of moany feckers.

We are in the SEMI-FINALS FFS. And 98% of you are feckin' moaning.

Look at Spurs this season, knocked out by Genk. Inter Milan knocked out. Last year we were knocked out, Spurs were knocked out, Bayer. The year before Liverpool out early, Sevilla, Roma, Spurs again....this is the Europa League. There are no easy games.

Massive clubs get knocked the feck out each and every round. That's modern football for you. The best team on paper don't necessarily win these types of competitions. Every test is tricky.

Yet we - somehow - seem to be passing all of these tests and YOU'RE ALL STILL MOANING!

Some of us United fans are so spoilt that it's almost sickening.

Well done lads on getting through last night; we really did put them to the sword with a dominant performance, but we missed countless chances to kill the game in normal time. But we're in the final four - with two more tests to go. Pass them and we are back in the CL next year It won't be easy...but I'm hopeful (not spoilt).

I think there is a difference between (in my view rightly) pointing out a satisfying result achieved through an underwhelming performance as opposed to moaning. We very well could have gone out as they had some real good chances to tie the match. Some players really underperformed. I am sure everyone is happy about going through but we didn't look impressive at all (bar Rashford).

That's good. Though on TV throughout large parts of the match it sounded like the away fans really out cheered and out sang the home crowd.

I thought we were really impressive last night. A bit of fine-tuning in our finishing and that could have ended 6-1.

We dominated that 210-minute tie for about 190-minutes of it.

I will start with the positives IMO:

Created loads of chances
Miky I thought was surperb, running at defenders with great close control
Shaw improved and showed bottle
Carrick kept us together at times when being countered
Rashford's pace worried em, and a finally a great finish
Fellaini ended up being a good plan B for knocking headers down to team-mates
Zlatan's injury could be a blessing in disguise, leaving us forced to play pacy forwards
We are thru !!
Besiktas and their intimidating ground / crowd are out

Negatives :
Rojo injury could be disastrous for the rest of the season
So many wasted opportunities as usual at home
Zlatan looked in a bad mood, and showed anger to Rashford
Blind cannot be relied upon at CB
Not convinced by Pogba's performance other than the superb pass, and then plenty of effort later on
Even though we may be forced to play pacy forwards for the rest of the season, we may come up short given the amount of games left, with just the young lads available up front

This is spot on. The match threads are the most depressing places in the world unless we're absolutely stellar.

A good performance that just needed better finishing and officiating.

I think we'll miss Rojo more than Zlatan as Rashford is hitting some decent form. Hopefully he finishes the season strongly.

True in the first half but we were very good from half-time onwards. Lots of good performances by United players like Mikhi, Fellaini, Pogba, Carrick, Bailly and Shaw.

I thought it was an enjoyable match. Both teams played well. Injuries are the only real downer.

This!

European football is a fickle whore, it's so easy to be knocked out. A poor call by the ref, red card, a sloppy pass, one moment of magic by a shit team. Boom, you're out. We can have no complaints.

Not sure what happens to us in the first half of games but for 20 mins, we seem to get brain dead and lose the ability to pass the ball. It was clear the goal was coming....

Happy with the win but don't we make it hard for ourselves eh.

I also get all the praise the BT guys are giving Rashford but also he was part of the issue for missing sitters.

We got the foundations of a real solid team here but our finishing needs addressing.
Rashford scored a goal. That's his job as a striker. If he had scored more than one well that's just gravy.

His over all play was that impressive he had them on toast with his pace and direct running all game.
