So they could be ready to play tonight? Or will Mourinho still go with Bailly and Blind? That is if they are fit.
I don't expect them to be 100% fit, but must be as fit as you'd expect a player to be at this stage of a busy season...at a guess.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Jones start after his reintroduction at Swansea.

Both Barca and Real play styles of football that allow Celta to have success.

We will defend well and look to hit them on the counter every single time.

    3-1 United.
It's not like Barca didn't hit them for 5 earlier in the season anyway.

Do you think Mourinho would risk starting with Jones if he's not 100 %? He's 'made of glass' and gets injured when he's fully fit, imagine how fast he'll get injured tonight?

In case United get defeated tonight: Can you give us an outlook on your post-match reaction? Like that you'll apologize to those who were more pessimistic (or realistic?) than you or anything similar? TIA
I'll be disappointed and surprised if we lose and I've nothing against the pessimists, just those that confidently predict defeat then still act like Jose crapped in their shoes when we draw.

I'm pretty optimistic about tonights game. As much as I think Celta is good, their defence isn't as strong as their offence in my opinion. So I guess the game will end 1-2. Goals from Rashford and Mata.

Celta play aggressive, high pressing football. Berizzo played under Bielsa at Newell's. And Bilbao finished 10th in La Liga when they beat us.
Guess i should have said within the last 4 seasons. I have seen Celta Vigo on four occasions this season and they have played reasonably well but they don't have the same intent or aggression that Bilbao team had.

I think comparing them with Bilbao means nothing. Our attitude tonight will be different from what was against Bilbao and our players are different, too. I don't think SAF was caring much for such a competition at this time.

Celta Vigo's last four home games:

    • L - Ath. Bilbao (0-3)
    • L - Betis (0-1)
    • W - Genk (3-2)
    • L - Eibar (0-2)
While I appreciate that they will be fired up - and I'm definitely not at all confident of a fluent, assured performance from United - Celta Vigo have only beaten Genk and Granada away in their last eight games.

There are absolutely no excuses for losing this, regardless of injuries.
This. Every team we play, somehow turns into 08/09 Barcelona before the game. Fluent attack, lighting transitions and endless gas tank.

Celta is a mid level club, we are the better team and have no excuses for losing this.

How good are Celta compared to mid-table English clubs? I reckon they aren't worse than Everton but might be wrong. It's misleading to judge their quality by their league position. They have given up on the league long ago.

European semi final. Yeah it's not the CL but how often do we get to European semi finals? I'm so looking forward to this, and the return leg next week.

feck me, their are some pessimistic feckers here. Over two legs we should be beating Celta comfortably.

He wasn't necessarily fully fit when he made his original comeback was he? Jose practically thanked him for playing through and having this new belief to play through it.

I don't even know what this last injury was tbh. If muscular, no I don't think any sane manager would play someone prematurely.

I'd say inferior to the top 6 (but capable of beating any on their day), but superior to the rest (They would beat Everton, for example if both teams were at their best).

Why? They're 11th in La Liga. They've lost their last three games. Have scored less than us this season and conceded twice as many.
My thinking is that we've not played well in this competition so far. We struggled against worse sides than this one when we had more fresh players.

    I hope you're right.

Bloody nervous. Celta have no doubt been sitting back and planning whilst we've been labouring in the PL trying to get into the bloody top 4.

Expect a very hard game tonight. Just hope the lads are 100% up for this, so no brain farts from them tonight. Need to be as tough as hell mentally.

If we were playing our first team players in optimal physical condition, there would not be so much caution here. The reality is Celta will be playing with their first 11 having had tons of time for rest and preparation, while Utd are physically exhausted and are missing many key players. We were schooled by Bilbao under Fergie, and we are not in a better condition nowadays. The game of the season this one is for me and probably the toughest one.

Not always good preparation. Sometimes momentum and match rhythm is more beneficial.

I'll take a game like the City one to be honest, restrict them to few chances and try and nick something.

We were exhausted in our last game, whereas Celta are not out of match rhythm, I am sure they are at their physically best right now. Most assuredly, they are up for it mentally too. Wonder what the bookies think.

Celta Vigo's Europa League XI: Alvarez; Mallo, Cabral, Fontas, Castro; Radoja, Hernandez, Wass; Aspas, Guidetti, Sisto

XI vs Eibar: Alvarez; Roncaglia, Gomez, Fontas, Planas; Hernandez, Cheikh; Sene, Sanchez, Sisto; Rossi
XI vs Betis: Alvarez; Lemos, Roncaglia, Gomez, Planas; Radoja, Cheikh, Diaz; Sanchez, Guidetti, Bongonda
XI vs Atletico: Alvarez; Lemos, Gomez, Fontas, Roncaglia; Sanchez, Diaz; Hjulsager, Wass, Bongonda; Beauvue

They play at most 4 of their first choice XI in the league games. There's a reason their record is so bad in the league. They play their first choice team in the Europa League only and so will be much fitter than we will be.
