If we could sign just one player from Monaco, it should be him IMO.

Excellent reply, exactly what I was looking for! I think it's more like 70/40.
Key point is we hurry up and sign Fabinho before Lemar gets sold because they will only sell one more player.

He's a fantastic talent and if we can't get either Sanchez or Dembele (which we probably can't) then he's who I'd like to see us sign.

In my top 5 winger options, certainly preferable to the two we've been linked with mostly.
I dont think Monaco will be seling him at all.
End of the transfer window can't come quick enough for Jardim - Monaco won't have any players left at this rate.
Some players warrant their own thread. Don't think we have any interest in Donnarumma or Aubameyang and yet they have their own threads.

I'd take lemar over Perisic anyday.
Who do I prefer in what sense? There is just a huge list of players I prefer over Lemar like most people would. I don't think he is particularly great at anything. If we weren't interested in B. Silva then I doubt that we'd be interested in Lemar.

I think I'd rather not buy anyone than buy him. Our wide options are okay, not great but then again he isn't great either so I don't see the point. He's no better than Depay.
Off the top of my head, I'd even prefer Zaha.

This is one of the guys Monaco DEFINITELY won't be selling.
While Lemar is a good talent and would offer something, I don't think he is the right fit for us currently.
Lemar is a wide player who tends to cut in, which we have plenty (Lingard/Mata/Miki/Martial even Rashford) While I agree Lemar may be an upgrade to some of those options, I think we need a more natural wide player for the way Jose wants to play, which is why the Perisic link is so strong.

You are joking or you haven't seen him much. He's much better than either Depay or Zaha
Lemar is a wide playmaker. A very good one at that.
I'm also not sure he's that good. Thought he was the weak link against England a couple of weeks ago, he's certainly nowhere near dembele and personally martial can be levels above him as well.
I doubt he's on this mythical 'list' we keep hearing about, just like every other player who pops up linked to other clubs that we think 'why not us?'.

His discipline and ability to tuck in and play deeper allowed Dembele to bomb forward and drift into central pockets of space. It also allowed France to match our numbers in midfield and allowed Pogba space to dictate the game. Too often people just pick out flair players and don't consider the functionality of the team that allows others to flourish.
Lemar is an excellent option for a deeper wide role in a counter attacking team. He's incomparable to Dembele or Martial.

He is tactically excellent. That also doesn't do him enough credit, he's also technically brilliant and extremely creative. I'm sure he creates more goalscoring opportunities than Bernardo Silva.

So we've enquired for him but so have every other premier league team and Monaco don't want to sell? Not feeling confident in this one..
