Just a random thought I had, thinking about how Rashford plays from the left despite being a natural forward, and how the likes of Mata and Herrera are not getting minutes. as of now.
Player by player, which top club do you think would get the best out of United's squad, hypothetically speaking? I'll start off with a few names:
Herrera - Athletico Madrid
I can imagine him in their midfield, harrying the opposition off the ball, defending resolutely and starting counter attacks by turning over the ball to the ball carriers ahead of him. His ability to arrive late at the edge of the box would also fetch him goals.
Juan Mata - Chelsea
It might slow down their attacks, but I can see him flourishing in the front three under Conte, with Kante to feed him, and Hazard and Morata to interlink with, and full backs to create space for him.
Paul Pogba - Manchester City
He is the midfielder they need, but thank god will never get. Pep's system would be great for him, he can find the long through balls to the marauding full backs, he has liberty to roam, a DMF behind him, and lots of intelligent runs to feed the ball to, not to mention the space he'll get to shoot. He'll be an assist machine there, and much better than KDB's distorted midfield role right now.
Anthony Martial - Barcelona.
This is the player they should have gone for to replace Neymar; obviously not on the same level, but similar style of play, linking up with Messi and Suarez, dribbling past full-backs, et al.
And so on and so forth, go take your pick.
