I'll wait for the next arc with my judgement. The speed at which it progresses is still glacial, but at least some proper shit is going down.
Yeah, the pacing is quite odd at the beginning and then they got backwards to the beginning and then it later on catches up to what was happening on the first episodes. I only kept on watching because I saw the first animation and thought it was going to get better and make sense eventually. So it really gets better but as it's a long series it takes time and it's kind of hard to get into a the very beginning.
Glad I'm not the only one who thought the same about the beginning. I may give it another try, though at a time when I have nothing else to watch.

I think if you liked Code Geass you'll probably like Mirai Nikki (and Attack on Titan) if you haven't seen it/them already. All are engineered to entertain with themes/genres/plotlines thrown in to escalate.

Right. Thought there was a chance you had, or perhaps was looking into reading it, given you recommended Tower Of God. For me, it was a case of once you go blKorean manhwa there was no going back. When you do dive back into it, you might want to give Trump, and Black Haze a shot.
I reckon so. Kishimoto kept thinking bigger and getting more ambitious with the stakes, but incessant contrivances couldn't mask him failing to take care of the details.

Haikyuu is super popular and raved about at the moment. Most people I know who have watched it love it. I couldn't finish season 1 myself but that isn't a disservice to the anime, I'm just like that with everything I watch these days.

I reckon you should first watch the 1997 series, then read the manga and if you feel like it, watch the three movies.
For football check out Hungry Heart Wild Striker -probably the most realistic football anime or if you like football coaching Giant Killing. Then there's Haikyu(Volleyball), Ping Pong and the already mentioned Kuroko No basket - though beware its nothing like Slam Dunk since it uses your typical shonen special power battles in basketball

If you didn't watch Hajime No Ippo then you didn't watch a sports anime before imo. A must seen for any sports anime fan.
