As a Bilbao fan I am not happy about that either.
Why would they need to pay 20m compensation if his contract is running out?
Yeah, that sounds like nonsense unless they are getting him in January. Why would they need to pay 20m compensation if his contract is running out?
How good/highly rated is Kepa? Is he.... a keeper for them?Looks like Real are on the verge of signing Kepa....that's great news for us,De Gea will stick around for some time yet, although I can see him going back to Spain eventually. If it's not Real, then it will be Barca....actually I"m quite surprised that Barca haven't shown any interest in him so far...
C'mon man, you're an experienced poster. Don't bump up threads with unrelated news please.
I take it they're signing him in Jan as opposed to waiting until the summer? Why would they need to pay 20m compensation if his contract is running out?
Aldready 27? You say that like it's a bad thing. The best keeper in the world at the age of 27 is a dream scenario as far as keepers go.I guess the Kepa deal makes sense from Madrid pov. DDG is already 27 now. Will be 28 mid 18/19 season. If we assume casillas’ age as the limit for a keeper at this level, they will get another 7 from DDG when they could get 3 out of Navas himself. Kepa will give them 10 years. Would be cheaper and is also Spanish.
Why would we do that when there are plenty of other keepers who lasted a lot longer than Casillas?I guess the Kepa deal makes sense from Madrid pov. DDG is already 27 now. Bilbo's long lost brother.Whos Bibao?
Could still do that and keep Navas without splurging a massive amount of money and time trying to sign DDG.Signing Kepa Arrizabalaga in January changes nothing, they may still try to sign De Gea in the Summer, and keep Kepa(only 23)as back-up, or send him out on loan for a few years.
True, but they've spent far too long trying to unsettle De Gea to just give up now, and like the Mounties they always get their manCould still do that and keep Navas without splurging a massive amount of money and time trying to sign DDG.
They are often wrong i think. They always try to pressure Real Madrid, for example the Mbappe story last summer. With regards to Real transfers, Marca is rarely ever wrong tbh.
Neymar - Aguero - Mbappé
Hazard - Pogba
Verratti
Alaba - Ramos - Thiago Silva - Carvajal
Kepa
My god what a team.

On the flipside, DDG can give up to 10-13 years more.I guess the Kepa deal makes sense from Madrid pov. DDG is already 27 now. Will be 28 mid 18/19 season. Casillas is a decent comparison for other shot-stopping (relative) shortarses like Navas, Valdés or Barthez. Keepers that rely entirely on their agility and reflexes fall off a cliff in their 30s. Then there's those which dominate the area, rely on their big frame and positioning like Buffon, Kahn or Cech which last a decade longer. Why would we do that when there are plenty of other keepers who lasted a lot longer than Casillas?
I think De Gea is settled at United and happy where he is, whilst we challenge for titles he'll stay imo. The reports of his girlfriend not being too happy being away from him and Manchester being cold etc have simmered down and she even turned up to the Unicef gig with him the other night.True, but they've spent far too long trying to unsettle De Gea to just give up now, and like the Mounties they always get their man
The De Gea link won't go away unless they sign somebody like Courtois, or Lloris sadly, be happily proved wrong though.

€80m release clause - that's quite an attainable amount for the likes of Real wouldn't you think
Oh give over, stop worrying, de Gea is going nowhere, least of Real Madrid anytime soon.FFS Real you were meant to tie this one up and leave DDG alone forever
Look forward to another summer of speculation then
