Deal has been going around for a week and I know when I put the order in on my birthday it was a nightmare to find it in stock, so now it'll probably be way worse.
You had a chance to try it out yet? Initial thoughts? Reserved one in Argos near where I work, just wondering whether I should spunk £250 on one of these considering my PS4 is collecting dust.

Just set it up after that post you quoted and had a go of the dive on VR Worlds. There's a bit of a palaver to set everything up as there are so many cables but I enjoyed the bit of time I had to play with it.
The little I played of Skyrim (never played it before and only experiences of a Bethesda game are Fallout 4 and Elder Scrolls Online so with the latter I do know the gist of what type of game it is etc) was great too. If you're buying one to see fantastic graphics, you'll be disappointed but as something to experience it is fantastic. Best to read the opinions of people who've played it a long time (page 3 onwards).
That reminds me, I bought the cameras to do this months ago. I really need to try it.

Will download Batman as well I've tried that and it was fantastic.
I didn't expect them to have any stock but I'm off out now to pick it up.

What games you got? And how's your VR sickness?
Just VR Worlds, GT Sport, Skyrim and the last two PS+ games with VR capability. I was fine until I went into Skyrim but that'll probably take a bit of messing around with settings and adjustment to get used to it.
Also on the PS Plus subscription this month you can download Until Dawn: Rush For Blood for free.

Went through all of Batman - will do that time and again it's clever how the VR is used. Not really a game more of an experience.
GT Sport in VR is pretty cool although you can only race 1 opponent in VR which is slightly disappointing.

Anyone in this discussion have kids? And if so how are you playing it in terms of letting them use it? Mine are 8 and 10 and it's going to be hard to keep them off it. I've said they can play on it occasionally but it'll be tightly regulated. Sounds like the age restriction is more about covering their backs rather than any specific or provable issues. So I'm thinking 20 mins here and there, maybe once or twice a week, isn't going to be a big deal. That sound reasonable to other people? How are you guys (parents) controlling it?
My 6 year old is crushing skyrim, and both my boys love super hot, but yeah I keep them on a limit.
I've got an 11 year old boy who about the size of an 8 year old and a 10 year old girl whose pretty big for her age and has a lazy eye, both can play it fine. No motion sickness or getting their VR legs at all, but I do limit their time, severly when they started playing it first, 10 minute bursts here and there on the demo's. My daughter played Skyrim on full locomotion with smooth turning and had no issues for a full hour a few days ago. I also have an army of nephews from 9-14 who use it when they are around and only one said he felt sick and in truth I think he was just scared and only felt sick because I told him before hand to let me know if he felt sick. I even had it on my tiny niece (aged 7 but tiny for her age) and she tried job simulator (but she was too small to reach anything and I was too lazy to adjust the camera). I actually started mine watching that Allumette movie, wayward skies from the demo and kept them away from free movement and more intense stuff for awhile.
I believe at 8 your eyes aren't fully developed and you're not supposed to even watch tv so I have a feeling VR might be the same, its also why its recommended for 12 and overs. I'm not going to say let them on it or don't but what you are recommending is what I did and honestly my two are fine except wasting some of my Fifa time..
Cheers guys. Yeah I did some reading around it and read in a couple of places that watching screens close up - like kids do with ipads and phones - is likely to be just as bad as anything VR does to them. In which case we're screwed.

But after the initial novelty wore off, i never really went back to it much. It's probably been about 8-9 months or so since i've even out the thing on. The tech is fantastic, especially when you consider the price of the thing, but i just find it so cumbersome to use at times. There's the comfort issue, but there's also the practicality of the thing.
I mean, the wires - they're outta control!
It's not really something you can just slip on for a few seconds and game for a bit. For me at least, it often means adjusting the room, making sure the camera can see me properly, calibrating the thing, move all objects out of the way, etc.
I don't think i truly appreciated how unpractical the thing can be. I will say though, over the past few weeks, i've been thinking about going back to it and giving it another go. I really don't know what sort of games are available for it right now as i've really just taken myself out of that ecosystem completely.
Hopefully there's some cool demos to try and some interesting experiences, because the tech is very good.

Im surprised about the wires issue. Youd have thought we had reached a level of technological development where we could overcome that kind of problem.
What are your setups? My PSVR gets hung behind my TV (all wires still plugged in). The wires go behind my TV/Entertainment unit so nobody can see them. When I'm ready to play I just reach over and grab the headset, reach for the one headset cable and make sure it's extended, switch on and play.
No faffing around...
Much the same here - I don't find the wires or the setup any issue at all.

There's no elegant way of setting the thing up when everything's connected. It's messy to say the least

Yeah, i'm sure some people are fine. I'm not speaking for everyone, i just know that it was an issue when the unit came out. Loads of people would go on about how messy the whole thing was when connected up, but just accepted it due to the fact that it was brand new tech. The way i have it set up, with the box next to my PS4 on a unit under my TV, it just gets crazy.
I just don't find it practical at all. But like i said, i do want to get back into it.
Ok, just take a moment and set it up for repeated use. Cable management up until the small small processor box.

A couple cable ties mate... It's up to you, but it's really not an issue.
Yeah, I've no real issues either. The cable is a bit heavy to the head (apparently the newer version is lighter), but if I'm standing up I use a clip to attach it to my trousers and that sorts it.
There’s a cable that connects the PlayStation Camera to the PS4, and additional HDMI cable just for the PSVR, a separate USB cable to connect the processor box to the PS4 and a AC adaptor to connect the PSVR processor box to an outlet.
Not to mention the other cables that are being used for the PS4 and if you have your controller connected. Don't tell me there's one cable, i have the bloody thing. Also, i'm not sure how you can say that it doesn't need to be seen. Unfortunately in my set up, it will be seen.

If you read stuff about the unit when it came out and listened to people who had the system, the wire issue would come up a lot. But they gave it a pass to an extent because the fact that you can have this tech running on a PS4 is amazing. And it is!

Hopefully Ill be OK. I have my telly up on the wall and then a shelf above the telly which already has a lot of electronics on it, including my BT box, my PS4, my stereo etc. So there's already a shitload of cables up there but I have managed to hide a lot of them. The plan is to have everything that can be, up there with all the rest of the electronics and the existing jungle of wires. And then only have the actual headset down in the room itself, with one cable coming down with that.
That's the theory. Ill have to wait and see whether I can make that work but Im pretty confident that will be possible.

I think the confusion above is over the cables that connect everything up. There are a fair few, there has to be, wireless just isn't an option yet and might be a while.
Those you can hide, the only thing on show is the cable (a rather big one tbf) that runs from the processor box to the headset, but like I say you can clip that to yourself when you are standing up so it's not that big of an issue.
If you got the luxury of having your set up in such a way that you don't need to disconnect and then reconnect eveytime you've finished with it or want to use it again, then you'll be fine.
The system itself it fantastic, so i'm sure you'll have fun with it!

Mate I've told you what you can do and said that it's not a problem for a section of us. Your experience is one of many....
I work with cabling and components so I just set up like I would normally. Plug everything in and then use cable ties to tidy up the wiring. My processor box is actually velcro'd to the back of my TV.
I can understand that not everybody wants to do that... But for me, it takes a minutes to get into VR.
Yeah, basically. I have a unit with my TV on and then my PS4 underneath. When everything it connected (PSVR unit, PS4, DVD and sometimes controller), it all gets a bit crazy! Haha.
So not really practical to have it connected all the time. It's just a bit of an eyesore. My room isn't the biggest so things need to moved around also.
But i know that's obviously not an issue with everyone.

Yea I get you now. It still may be possible to set it up, but honestly if nothing's driving you to (PSVR for example) then why bother?
My entertainment hub has a router with wired connections to PS4, PS3, XB360, TiVo, amp, speakers, 32in TV, a matrix connected to the above and a 60in TV, and a PC. Both with there own speaker system....
Imagine the cables for that!? Took me an hour to redo the cables management last week. (upgrade to Pro).

Well like i said, i've taken myself out of that ecosystem so i don't really know if there are any must have experiences out there at the moment. I definitely do wanna dip back in.
I remember trying that shark demo on Christmas (was the first thing i tried) and i was blown away by it! And that's a pretty simple "game".
I've tried various games on PSVR worlds, that Call of Duty Jackal Assault demo (which i liked), the Resident Evil 7 VR demo which was great but made me a little sick. There's been others that i can't remember. But i'll have to have a look at what's out there.
I think the main thing is the matrix which allows me to output on either TV. So I can game on one and everyone else can watch TV or Kodi, etc... Cuts out all the fighting over the TV. Except when me and the kids are using both TVs for gaming.
Everything else tho is just me adding shite over time. PC speakers and Xbox could be disconnected for example...
You definitely want to try RE7, and Farpoint. I swear by Sparc but not many seem to know what it is. You'll be able to pick up a lot of stuff cheap so that break you took could work out nicely for you.
