4231 wouldnt be too bad, and would only work with someome like Lingard as a 10, who would have to be a number 8 off the ball, which is what Jose requires from his 10.

Two banks of four. Deep and compact, thus stopping City from playing in between the lines, then hit them on the counter.

6 defenders? That'd be the most bus parking lineup we've put out this season. Not to mention starting two players that haven't played together this season, two players in positions they haven't played this season with one only starting his first match in 8 months just last week. No thanks. I hope to see us play a back 3 of Lindelof - Smalling - Rojo with Valencia and Young on the flanks.

Back to basics and Horses for courses, and are Valencia and Young really defenders ?

And Shaw, a chance he wouldn't be expecting with the instruction(with Darmian protecting his backside)to get in behind Walker and supply crosses for Lukaku, Martial plus Fellaini getting into the box late.

Same from Young on the right getting in behind Delph.

It may not be pretty, it certainly isn't Manchester United, but needs must.

If we play 3 at the back and City are on blob they will probably humiliate us.

Might as well call it a 6-2-2 haha

And I personally don’t want to see Rojo starting unless we’re playing 5 at the back. If it’s 4 at the back, after his showing vs Arsenal I’d be hesitant to put him back out there and throw him up against City’s wolves.

And yet we looked more secure at the back than we have in any time in the last three years playing a four when Jones and Rojo were paired together for a spell last season.

have a bad feeling about today, please show some fight boys. I just think Pogba missing will be the difference in the end :(

Tbf Herrera has been dreadful this season too. Think its Matic Fellaini and I wouldn't be surpised to see McTominay involved at some point.

I had a dream Fellaini scored a match-winning double after being down a goal.

"Afro-man cements cult status in the Manchester derby." Reads like a charm.

I'm really not feeling positive. I mean, I know I'm not the most positive guy, but I really see a hammering coming with this one. The media will cream themselves too :/

    -----------------de Gea
    ----------Smalling--Jones--Rojo
    Valenica--Herrera--Matic--Fellaini--Young
    ------------Lukaku---Martial

No idea with this one. Lingard has to play really.

Just fecking go for it:devil:. Ddg Valencia Vnl Smalling Shaw Herrera Matic Rashford Lingard Martial Lukaku. (Maybe Young deserves to play instead of Shaw. Come on you fecking Red Devils:devil::devil::devil::devil:

    Maybe????????!!!!!!!

You want to bench arguably our best player in the last few months for a returnee (after God knows how long) left back who has nothing but age on Young?

No way. Young has to be the first name on that team sheet after DG.

I also think Rashford should be on the bench. It is absolutely essential we stifle them in the midfield.

If we are compact, retain and use the ball well when we have it rather than lose possession cheaply, and we are deadly on the counter, we WILL beat City today.

But no one should expect sexy football from our boys. It's just not going to happen without Pogba.

I confess I haven't got a clue about the lineup. Feels like it's one we should risk perhaps a 4-2-3-1 with lots of changes at the back. But I'm not sufficiently sure, so I'll still go with a conservative one.

Luke Shaw's the best left back in the league :nono:

Snowing will play in our benefit. Can't see City able to play their usual game at all on a snowy pitch, while we'll look for long balls with ease.

I'm searching for anything to feed my optimism.

Getting loads of messages Londn Reds giving up at Euston. Am guessing several thousands traveling from outside Manchester won’t make it.
