Two United born and bred. Both have played all their football at United all life. Both in top 3 of our best players at Liverpool today.

Every Red should be proud of our academy.

Just wanted to mention Lingard in here as well. Didn't play (much) today, but still. Makes our academy proud this season.

Delighted for Rashford, he has received some ridiculously harsh criticism this season. Scott McT has blown my expectations of him out of the water. He was fantastic today. I'll be honest and say I didn't expect him to become the player he has for us this season. I was surprised he didn't maybe go out on loan but he's done well.

Not sure if McTominay was in our top three, but that's not a criticism as I just thought we had a fw who had good games.

Had his best game for us today I thought. Showed more composure and good decision making than some of our more senior midfielders have in games like this.

Rashford just needs to play direct and quick more often. He's dynamite whenever he does. It doesn't come off half the time but he's a pain in the backside for any team he plays against when he's on the move all the time.

Amazing feeling to see academy lads doing well against your arch-rivals. Mourinho has lived up to our tradition of giving exciting young players a chance to showcase what they have and both were amazing.

McTominay is absolutely the coolest younster I have seen in a while. He was so calm both on the ball and without. Stayed in his zone and kept intercepting passes and picking runs right through the match.

For Rashford, this was probably the first start since December and he was pumped up. The way he wrong footed the defender and smashed it into the far side of the goal was a stuff of dreams.

With those two and Lingard playing regularly as well it's very encouraging to see how we're working lots of academy players into the team again. Our most promising period for a while in that regard.

I think the criticism regarding Rashford was justified. Personally thought he was a complete and utter mess in late December and Jan. Mourinho took him out of the limelight, probably had a few words to calm the kid down and he's been very good in his last few performances.

100%. For all these 100 million dollar superstars in football we can proudly boast that we have 3, not 2, 3 local lads in our starting 11 most weeks. How many of the top clubs in the world can say that?

Shame we didn’t get Pep in and spend a billion pounds buying foreign players.

Both stepped up today and had fantastic games.

Rashford has a good knack of scoring in big games against the top sides. I think that is my favorite trait about him.

McTominay seems to be gaining huge experience this season and working with Matic alongside him is doing wonders for his game. Today was probably his best performance as a United player.

I'm not saying critisism wasn't valid. I'm a firm believer in players being criticised and praised on a game-by-game basis and don't get why some on here have their favourites and get so upset when they receive valid critisism.

My point regarding Rashford is about the extreme critisism such as people completely writing him off, calling him useless, a Championship player etc. He's still very young and will have patches of poor form. But overall, what he's shown has been fantastic.

I criticized McTominay a lot of times but fair play to the kid. Both were magnificent today. I wish we had a manager who gives a chance to the youngsters from our academy instead of splashing 150 millions on full-backs though.

TBF, that's stupidity and not criticism.

It's brilliant. For all the talk about our spending, no other top club consistently gives chances to their academy products which is a compliment to both our club philosophy and the standard of coaching in our academy.

Said it all along Rashford can be world class. However too much onus on his defensive duties from Jose imo. He has incredible attacking skills with his turn of pace and finishing qualities. He shouldn't be running up and down the line making diving tackles and risking 2 yellow cards. Cemented his place in the England squad today.
MacTominay is definately in for the long haul. Great to see!

Rashford's 1st goal is a joy to watch. First touch to control the ball with his head, swift cut-inside with confident to the good position while destroying Liverpool's right back, then close it with strong shooting with perfect ball location.

Rashford is a fantastic player. Brilliant performance from him today.

McTominay was miles better than Matic, which says something in such a big game.

I thought they were our best two players today.

I don't think McTominay was in our top three but that says more about how good the teams performance was really as he was very good himself.

Also, I've been very critical of Rashford but he was excellent as well. Good times.

There is too much onus on his defensive duties simply because Jose does not really trust our defenders. Neither Valencia nor Young are natural fullbacks.

When Jose had Ferreira, Terry, Carvalho & Gallas in his back four with Makelele & Essien shielding the back four, I never saw Robben or Duff with this amount of defensive duties....

Everything comes down to the board and how slow they are going with the rebuilding. This summer must sort out the full back/central midfield problem if we are going to challenge City next season.

Guardiola has spent more than £200m on his defence whilst 4 of our back five today are Fergie’s boys. We need to do better in investing in that defence so that our forward players can concentrate fully on the attacking side of the game.

With Tuanzebe and Timbo likely getting into the first team in two seasons time we'll have quite the output from our academy.

And we've still got Gomes and Chong waiting.

This is my thought as well. Hopefully Tuanzebe will step up also. He seems like to have immense potential.

This is what the club is all about.

Also Rashford has played just 2 years for first team, he scored against Arsenal, City, Chelsea, Liverpool. Think only Spurs are left.

I thought McTominay was outstanding for us today. Energetic, decisive and composed. Had a nice bit of grit to his game today too. He's coming along brilliantly. Also delighted for Rashford with all the bullshit of he should go elsewhere for opportunities. He got an opportunity today and he grasped it with both hands. Watch him start the next match now. Both players are being managed perfectly in terms of the amount of game time they are getting. Love seeing youth being given a chance to shine.

I’d be very surprised if Fosu-Mensah, Tuanzebe, Pereira, Chong and Gomes don’t all play a part in next season too so added to Rashford, McTominay and Lingard that’s a great endorsement to our academy and the coaching.

Ronaldo-esque that was.
