Looking at him against Valencia he already seems to have got rid of a great deal of the excess weight. Certainly looked more the part and did move better. Still nowhere near good enough though!

Still maintain Lukaku's got the worst touch of any player i've seen in a United shirt. The proof is right in front of us every game. The only people who think he has any semblance of technique must not watch games.

Lukaku is the worst striker I’ve seen playing for Man Utd.
He’s also one of the worst overall players if you count in other positions.

How does one play for Manchester United lacking the basic skills is beyond me.
It’s embarrassing to watch.

Funny thing is I really like him, but on footballing reasons I can’t wait for him to leave the club.

I saw this on Twitter

Here’s an idea.
Switch Jones and Lukaku around.
Jones’ finishing is better and Lukakus 1st touch would clear the ball further than Jones.

:lol::lol:

Sorry but there’s no excuse. He’s a professional footballer; thousands of boys across the country would give their left arm to be in his position and would make sure they keep on top of their fitness levels if that’s what it takes.

So true he (and every other footballer) should realise how privileged to get payed for doing something they love.

Going to be hard to shift him on those wages. Can't see an elite club coming in for him and he is going to have to take a massive wage reduction. Cant see many clubs paying his £200,000/week wage. Which is crazy considering Lewandowski is on 225,000 euros.

He is playing worse than Rooney in his later years did. Rooney had the excuse of age.

What benefit was this ‘muscle’ supposed to have? He isn’t strong enough to hold anyone off anyway.

It's a mystery this man is playing for Manchester United. He's on Bebe's level of awful.

Lukaku is an embarrassment. Cannot recall a leading United player who has lacked so many fundamentals.

He reminds me of that Akinfenwa fella who was built like a tank but useless with the ball.

It's incredible how static and slow he is. He is simply not a premier league footballer at the moment, we would be far better with Fellaini up front and I don't want Fellaini in our team.

Fellaini is a better option. Playing with 10 men is a better option. He looks like a non league player. The current version of Heskey (who must be 45) is a better option than this fraud who is playing for us.

I seen a video a few pages back of his 44 touches against Fulham and nothing stuck or come off for him.
I can’t think of much that he controlled or held up or passed on today either. We know his hold up play is bad but today took the cake, he doesn’t even get in front to try and turn his man to make runs instead of holding up, he’s just nowhere.

To top it all off, after each of these rubbish touches or lost duels or failed runs he points or holds his hands out in a huff.

It’s infuriating to watch

Shaqiri looks like bodybuilding toddler and he's still a good player. Ronaldo also added a shit ton of muscle and was fine. In fact, so did the original Ronaldo.

In Lukaku's case, it didn't work.

If you read the original article, he never blames muscle for his bad form. If anything, he blames the diet of water and vegetables. It's the lack of energy that's made him sluggish.

I may have been wrong to prefer Morata (or was I? It's a low bar) but I wasn't far off in my assessment that Lukaku was little more than a decent Premier League striker rather than a world class player.

Not a signing that ever excited me

He needs to be sent on holiday like Ferguson did with Schmeichel or to some specific fitness places with trainers to get him into shape. He's absolutely miles off the pace.

His lack of spatial awareness is astonishing, how can he not track the ball in the air? Wouldn't surprise me if he needed a CT scan

SAF would not have gone near signing him even on a free transfer.

That's a good point. He seems to always be ahead or behind when the ball is in the air and can't judge where it is. I think he didn't win one aerial duel today

World cup hangover and overplayed in the last year and a half. He was playing 90 minutes constantly when he should have been subbed. He was basically playing once a week at Everton. We went far in the cup competitions and was playing European football, without rest. Then the extra muscle put on made him even slower. He looks exhausted, Fergie would have took that man out of the team for a month. Give him a holiday and trainer to recharge. He's been basically played though this awful form for 90 minutes again when he's offering nothing. Comes back to bad management again. Talking shite in the media doesn't help when he ain't performing. Poor rotation and fatigue mixed with lack of confidence has caught up.

Totally agreed. By no means do I think he should be disregarded like a lot of people do. It's obvious you can't just keep playing a player with fitness and confidence issues and hope it will all magically come back, a bit like Shaw's case, although then, the same people were going mad for him being benched. If he's in poor form in more ways than one, playing him in a hoofball formation in total isolation won't do any good.

Or he should just move in with Smalling and go vegan for a while.
