Quite gutted truth be told, I thought he'd give it everything to get us back to the top, showing he's still a world class managed. Was give a 3 year contract to build the club up again and wasn't fully backed in the summer (within his original contract), we are in a poor state from top to bottom, this isn't just Mourinho at fault, the players have been shocking also and struggle with things that are a given as a professional footballer, like passing a football to a teammate.

A new manager won't make the likes of Lukaku, Lingard, Fellaini, Jones, Rojo and Matic brilliant players and that's 3/4 of a football teams spine.

Edit: this to me seems like acceptance from Ed and the board that we'll be knocked out by PSG and wouldn't get top 4. Hopefully they spend the rest of the season getting the club in shape with a decent plan.

Actually can't believe it. Thought this day couldn't get better. Last in work until Christmas and now this.

Finally. This should have happened a long time ago. The way he started into the season was already a sign!

Now it's up to the players to prove themselves

Wonder if that article before the international break and Neville's rant kept Jose in a job up until now? We were probably going to sack him then if it wasn't for the leak.

Hope we appoint someone ASAP. Perhaps an interim coach. So happy Jose is gone.

Who do we think will get the job in the summer? Maybe this rules out Zidane as he's available right now, at least on paper.

I love Carrick. If he gets it, not only because, well, it's United, I hope he does well.

If we don't have a real manager lined up as a caretaker, then this is a monumentally stupid thing to do and think that an ex player or a coach can pull us through half a season.

And whilst it was time for mourinho to go, as we don't play like a team just individuals, some of you a right ingrates. Lets not forget after a barren spell he gave us trophies if only for a brief period.
It removes his toxicity from the club and allows the club to identify a long-term manager and a director of football to take us forward from next season, if they got a "real manager" in then they would obviously want the job long-term. Not sure your second paragraph makes any sense but surely it's the manager's job to make it in to a team and he has failed to do that at all and has seemed uninterested in trying to do so.

Right decision, best decision for the club and for Jose I think.

No need to rush this decision, get it right this time.

Well I'm sad.

Never like to see anyone fail at our club, I always want them all to succeed.

He seemed broken in the run up to the scouse though, resigned to defeat. Can't be that way for this club.

Give it to Giggsy till the end of the season.

I wanted Mourinho to succeed more than anything. But I can accept when change is required.

Be interesting to see how the squad responds on the pitch.
More dabbing I guess.

Mixed emotions, sad it didn’t work out. I’m also not convinced a caretaker manager will do much better this season, as I think problems run deeper than the manager but we are about to find out I guess...

Zidane was never coming in mid season I don’t think. He may scout the job till the summer then be officially announced? Personally don’t think he’s take the job anyway.

Maybe the CL draw accelerated this all. The board likely didn't have any trust in Mourinho being able to beat PSG.
