Surely this is a short term job for Wenger? Knows the league well, we have a contingent of french players and is settled in England!

Now that’s happened it’s time for a proper decision to be made re infrastructure and the next 3-4 years.

But this was due.

Maybe he's going to Madrid so there is no comp to pay
I read yesterday that Inter Milan was willing to offer him a contract as they are looking for a new manager. One of the two clubs could possibly be the next club of Mourinho.

Only thing that matters is that it is not Manchester United!

Correct decision obviously, but a lot of other changes in how the club is being run are needed as well.

Don't agree with Carrick being given the reigns until end of the season? why not search for a new guy right now there is still plenty of football left.

He really brought it upon himself with the constant negativity everywhere, his comments about players and comments about coaching highlighting a flaw

So I guess woody really WAS angry during the Liverpool match

Waiting for someone to say it’s a ploy so glazers don’t have to spend in January transfer window

Just the start.

We need a full squad rebuild in the summer starting with exit of several championship tier players.

To the people saying "but what about the trophies" I care more about our club values than an league cup and EL, seriously feck off with that logic. Glad he's gone.

Quite gutted truth be told, I thought he'd give it everything to get us back to the top, showing he's still a world class managed. Was give a 3 year contract to build the club up again and wasn't fully backed in the summer (within his original contract), we are in a poor state from top to bottom, this isn't just Mourinho at fault, the players have been shocking also and struggle with things that are a given as a professional footballer, like passing a football to a teammate.

A new manager won't make the likes of Lukaku, Lingard, Fellaini, Jones, Rojo and Matic brilliant players and that's 3/4 of a football teams spine.
No but a new manager will hopefully bin the lot of them off and bring in some quality players that form a coherent team

Player power wins out.

I couldn't defend Jose in the end though.
This. I hate the fact the players (and agents) had so much power but Mourinho did himself no favours in the end. He created enemies at the club on what seemed liked a daily basis

Wenger would be intriguing and somewhat hilarious (bit of a circus though).

United have come out and said it won't be Carrick or Butt and will be from outside the club.

Genuinely think Wenger makes sense for the season. With the only expectation being to improve our football, he's ideal.

Should have been McKenna.

Mmm... you are feeling winny...

I think Derren Brown would be better personally, but then I have suggested this before and noone has done ANYTHING about it. So frustrating.

Fantastic, I supported him as much as I could but it just wasn’t working anymore. It was doing more harm than good to our club.

Only other thing is they should also ship out any player who doesn’t want to give their sweat & passion for the club.

Disagree. If someone at your work quits or is fired, do you randomly wait until the summer? This is a mistake I think we made when appointing Mourinho, why wait until the summer? We're not talking about signing a player outside of a window here. Why not pick the new man and get him an extra 4 months with the players rather than going into the first window cold? Feel like waiting until the summer is wasting an opportunity.
Because the quality of candidate currently available is piss poor. We should wait and sound out some proper managers over the next couple of months and be sure to get it right. Rushing will only result in having to fire someone again in a couple of seasons.

Gutted it didn’t work out for him...I really thought he’d do well here. Thanks for the couple of trophies. Had to go.
This, I understand things have been bad, but he seemed like the right man for the job and did a good job by finishing second last year.
This year has been a complete shit show though

I was in fact thinking of Hughes but he has flopped in management so he would be the wrong choice even as interim manager.
Yeah of course he would!! I was not being serious.

Steve Bruce is available :)

EXCELLENT!

Now Woodward to get demoted from football matters too and maybe we can start building a damn good football team again.

Does it really change much though? does it change that our players are made of glass and have the mental fragility of a 9 year old? Does it change that our owners are leeches? Will it change that our structure from top to bottom is archaic and broken? Will it change the fact that Woodward will just chase names to sell shirts rather than having a solid transfer strategy?

While i agree it was probably best to part company with him, i just wonder if he was trying to pull the board out their collective posteriors about modernizing the setup and they didn't like it.

I'm worried that they are looking for new "yes" man, rather than someone who can make us great again.

The fans won't be forgiving if they don't step it up now.

Sure an improvement might not happen overnight, but they've got their wish - now they need to respond.
Yeah right.

I want Wenger if we can't get our first choice in mid-season...why ?

1) He is French (Martial and Pogba would probably be happy)
2) He always gets his teams to C.L - but never win trophies. I ll gladly take that now
3) He seems to be genuinely loved by his players
4) He always gets his teams to play attacking football

Ok - I am not 100% serious - but it might not be a bad idea
Another past-it manager? Have you learned nothing from the LVG and Mourinho years?
