I would normally say discuss. But there's no point discussing something so factually correct.

So I'm just using this thread to put this fact out there, and congratulating Paul on this fabulous achievement.

I’ve been pushing this for a long time on here. Certainly the best in my eyes.

Think it's safe to say he's the best midfielder in the world called Paul.
Lovely.
He was very good in the first half but looked knackered later on.

Paul can be as good as he wants to be.
But. He is not there yet by a margin.

Someone needs to tell me who is better right now because I couldn't name you a single player.

Yes. end thread. In fact it should just be an empty announcement type thread in which no one can comment.

Agreed. May not be as consistent as a couple of names out there throughout 90 minutes, but he’s incredibly resistant to pressing, and as dangerous from an stacking standpoint as any other CM out there.

Needs to do it over the years and win something important on club level.
Correct. He has a long, long way to go to do that.

Last season KDB was brilliant and led City to a crushing title win. If Pogba wants to be the best midfielder in the world then that sort of season is the first stop along the way. What we've seen under Solskjaer so far is great but far too brief.

He is in my football manager save. He's scored 43 goals in my treble winning season.

In real life though he still has a lot to prove to be considered the very best.

These threads are always a jinx.

Anyways he is for me and won't swap him for any midfielder.

He's the most in form midfielder at least.
Paul is a strange one, he ran the midfield and scored a goal in a world cup final so he ticks so many boxes that peoples ask.
If he was playing like this for Madrid he would be hypes up to the moon.

We all know he has the talent to be. I agree that he will need to win high profile silverware with his club team and play exceptional for a whole season for him to be given the Ballon d'Or.

Playing at a very high level. But has not been consistent enough to warrant such a label. Mourinho or not, he needs to do it consistently.

Brilliant pass, occasional good moments but otherwise poor both in attack and defence

I know you're not being serious, but for the sake of this discussion, does someone like De Bruyne count? Because I don't think Pogba is better than de Bruyne.

He did play well in the first-half, but he still had five chances(which is an obscene amount away to one of your rivals) to score in the second half when we were on the back foot, he scores one of those and we could have humiliated Spurs today on their own patch, and not been hanging on for dear life.

The best in the world takes one, or more of those chances.

But, and having a Manager who believes in him helps, he's getting there.

They both have the same number of goals and assists since the start of 2017/18.

I didn't know that but it's not going to change my opinion that de Bruyne is better and far more consistent.

Under Ole, Pogba looks like the best midfielder in the world, as CM, he had more goal/assist than anyone in Europe.

Surely we should wait for him to produce this kind of form for more than just a month before we start with this kind of stuff?

Agree he has all the tools though. He's fantastic.

Imagine getting rid of Pogba and keeping Jose

The one pass was out of this world. All in all, I thought Eriksen had the better game. He is pretty much a highlight player taking up the spot of a midfielder, like Coutinho used to do at Liverpool. Coutinho also produced lots of goals, assists and magical moments, but Liverpool often failed to control the midfield with him in their side.

He has to do it for a longer period of time.

de Bruyne was outstanding last season, he just hasn't been fit this year. I find Modric incredibly overrated, Ballon d'Or was a farce.

Eriksen had a better game? :houllier:

Pogba's quality on that pass ultimately decided the game and he was the only player who could play his way out of intense Spurs pressing. I think this thread is premature but you're talking shit on his performance tonight.

This season in the premier league alone? The 2 Silvas, Fernandinho, Wijnaldum, Jorginho. Some have gone off the boil recently, but unless the best midfielder in the world is based on a few games then yeah.
Didn't even start 50% of the league games and Jorginho is just laughable choice there.
