One of those guys like Jimmy Murphy who's influence is impossible to exaggerate but sometimes overlooked.

RIP Eric

Just heard this, awful news for his family and the club for whom he did so much.

Thoughts with his family, R.I.P Eric.

Very saddened by this. As well as his exploits at United, he was a major part of the Barrow AFC squad that gained it's only ever promotion to League division 3 in the late Sixties.
RIP mate.

Sad news, I think his achievements at United are very well documented, I'm sure he will be missed by everyone that knew him.
RIP.

The hard working men behind the scenes, like Eric, are the ones who built us.

Such sad news, RIP Eric the Star Maker

Condolences to his family and close friends.

We've got the Jimmy Murphy young player of the year award, and it would be nice if the club honoured Eric in a similar way in time, i'm sure they will.
That would be very fitting.

Very sad news. Hope the club can keep his memory alive as he's played a big part in building our finest moment so far.

As others mentioned, Fergie gets all the headlines and people like Harrison are relatively unknown. RIP Eric.

RIP, his place in the pantheon of legends here is undoubted and his name will join the likes of Sir Matt, Jimmy Murphy, Louis Rocca, and Sir Alex as one of the pillars that has built the behemoth that the club has become.

The tributes and from whom they're coming from really speak volumes about what kind of a man he was.

A very sad day. I hope the club marks this in a permanent way. We need to mark the contribution of people like Eric and Jimmy Murphy in a lasting way.

I'm all for giving an award in his name but we should be making a permanent marker for people that have helped build and maintain the club.
