Can't see us going through tonight. PSG are possibly right now one of the strongest in Europe and they have looked to improve defensively this season which I always thought was one of their achilles heal from them. They look mentally in a good frame of mind unlike in the last few years under Blanc and Emery. Think the loss of Pogba is huge tonight, they will keep the ball all night long while they move very quickly from back to front and don't allow alot of time to get yourself set in defence.

If we score first, then who knows. Ajax did it last night but this is a huge mountain to climb. 2-1 PSG but we'll give it a good go

Bin the negativity and enjoy the ride, we've nowt to worry about. Just go out, play our game and we will get the result we need. It's also going to be exciting that we will have a 1st XI packed with youth (academy graduates and other youngsters), plus a load more who can come off the bench

Life would be boring if we didn't have a little challenge now and again.

My only ask for the selection is to go With Dalot instead of Young at RB, so we can put a 'new academy' graduate on the left (Chong). Nothing against Young, but he has had 2 below par ganes in a row and has been back to his ling ball ways - rather we have a more solid attacking option at RB, plus a bit more composure on the ball

Garner, Gomes and Greenwood to all come off the bench as well please :-)

I was at the game and said this at the time. It was so obvious, we pressed early and they made mistakes and Verratti looked really uncomfortable. For some reason we then sat back and all that changed, they looked comfortable and Verratti strolled around making easy passes. Can't have that tonight.

Out of interest, what did Rio say?
It sounds like you said the complete opposite of the bolded part of the quote actually. You advocate pressing them instead of sitting back while the quoted part cited Buffon who claimed they find it harder when teams sit back against them.

Nice little video from BT - Though would have liked to have seen more of that interview with Rio and Tuchel.

Taking the next corner instead of Jones!
They're going to man-mark Rashford out of the game so does anyone else think that there's even the slightest chance that Ole might go with Greenwood in the starting line-up as his ace up his sleeve? He's made sure that he's not featured anywhere in the last two weeks (with claims of an injury that have never been discussed). I'm sincerely tempted to adjust my line-up prediction because it would completely throw PSG … and that's what we need!

    EDIT: meaning interchangeable/fluid front line:

    Greenwood Lukaku Rashford

I like that, but would swap Rashford and Rom as their 'default' positions

I hope that all people on here who cheer for those youth and academy players do not offend them if we slide into a big loss, which is of course possible.

I wonder if OGS will be tempted to play Bailly tonight in a back three.

I hope Dalot starts. His crossing can create havoc. All else being equal.

I'm working on the idea that they will be man-marking Marcus so why hamper the striker in the box? Leave him out wide and let him shake his man/men when he can and make runs in … or simply drag defenders out of position making space for the "unknown quantity"

Still unlikely, think we'll more probably see the Dalot overlap as the most forward winger over that side and Greenwood come on with 25 to go if Marcus gets too much attention and is in danger of being injured.

Is Rashford even fit? Could only manage a quick sub appearence at Palace and even though he started v Southampton he had a very quiet game so seems like a player who isn't 100% and is saving himself a bit atm.

I can see OGS leaving him on the bench to fully save him for Arsenal particularly as Martial hasn't played for a fair few weeks now.

Rashford pulls up tonight and potentially Lukaku is your only out and out forward available for Arsenal (although a very inform one).

 Yeah the typo threw me off.

We were in the game when we were pressing them, 2-0 down when we weren't pressing and blocking from midfield. Parhaps Buffon is being devious there as it was clear as day they couldn't build up from the back when we pressed.

I am enjoying my football again, and if there is a blip tonight, so be it. Win or lose, I just want to see a positive attitude out there on the field. Go United!

Really looking forward to this game, which is weird because of the circumstances we find ourselves in.

Under OGS, I'm sure the boys will do us proud regardless of who goes through.

Think we should go for 3 at the back for tonight, with the players we have our midfield will be overran I feel, so having an extra defender gives us a better balance.

What’s the latest with the Matic injury? I’ve heard rumours that he will miss tonight but feature against Arsenal on Sunday.

And what about Lingard, Herrera, Mata, Martial etc, is there a thread around here where we discuss injuries?

Thanks - not too worried about tonight, just wondered where we are for the Arsenal game which is very important. Glad Martial isn’t being risked tonight.

After last night in Madrid, you get the feeling that anything could happen.

An early goal and who knows?
