We must win this game. I dread to think what happens if we lose this one. 5 defeats in 6 with another nailed on defeat in my opinion v Barcelona to come. Good job Ole has just been hired permanently or he could be in danger of losing his job.

This end to a season could be our worst in a very long time especially with City and Chelsea still to play.
Our next 5 games will make or break our season. West Ham H, Barca A, Everton A, City H, Chelsea H. Our final two games are against teams we really should be beating, but anything could happen with these ones.

Rashford really should be rested with barca on Tuesday.

    De Gea
    Jones - Smalling - Lindelof - Dalot
    ---Fred
    Mctominay ---------Pereira

    --Pogba
    Lukaku ----Martial

To me this is the first true "must win" game of the season under Ole thus far. Theres plausible excuses for the other losses, but this one is a must win, both for Oles legitimatecy and the CL race for next season.

I'm starting to get real pissed off at Pogba. Is he playing poorly on purpose to force a transer to Real Madrid?

One of the disappointments from the Barcelona game was not just getting three forwards up the pitch in a 433 at any point in the match despite needing a goal. I'm not sure why there is a reluctance to do it, but I hope we do it here. We are kind of forced to as it looks like Rojo is our only option at Left Back (unless Valencia/Darmian are fit and thrown straight in, or Jones plays Right Back), we lack width with this diamond and when Rash/Lukaku run the channels there aren't enough bodies in the box for them to do anything with it. I wouldn't be surprised to see Mata start, but I think we just have go to with something like Lingard - Rashford - Martial.

    de Gea
    Dalot Smalling Lindelof Rojo
    McTominay
    Fred Pogba
    Lingard Rashford Martial
    ---
Romero; Jones; Pereira, Garner, Mata; Lukaku, Sanchez

Ole said he thinks Sanchez will be in the squad for this, so I expect to see him on the bench. We finally have all six of our first-team forwards fit, so surely that has to be the incentive to start with three of them now? Especially with Young and Shaw both out. I fear that Mata will be selected in a diamond, but I hope we just play the three forwards high up the pitch and suffocate West Ham. We need significantly more intensity in our game and I think that front three provides the most of it (although I can see Lukaku over Martial as well).

It's a must-win game as our season is arguably over if we drop points here... We'd have to beat Everton away, probably Barcelona away, City at Old Trafford, and Chelsea at Old Trafford to have a chance at saving our season and gaining momentum if we fail in this match. Ideally, Herrera or Matic will be on the bench, but I think McTominay and Fred are doing enough to keep them out of the side right now - something I didn't think I'd say.

Why doesn't Lucky Mcluckerson's post count ever increase?

    And why can't I alert him/her?

    And who is he/she anyway?
Some muppet complained Niall was bringing us bad luck because he was the only one creating match day threads, so he created Lucky Mcluckerson to do that instead.

Pretty confident on the back 4 and midifield 3 being right, the forward 3 is a coin toss as no one is playing well right now, but Ole seems to have a bit of an obssession with Rashford so I think he'll play. Whether it's Martial or Lukaku, Lingard or Mata, I'm just not sure.

Since when was a back three inherently defensive???
Since always. It's a back 5, not a back 3. 3 central defenders and 2 fullbacks. You can call them wing backs all you want, but notice how it's a FB who plays that roll and not Rashford, Martial, or any of our other attacking players? I absolutely hate that formation and wish it would die when LVG left

Are Valencia and Darmian still United players? Registered? Fit? Not injured? Given that both Shaw and Young are out, hard to say who will be the other full back, Rojo maybe but he's shite at left back.
Valencia is so injured he played 90' for Ecuador against the US in a friendly during the break.

Use the academy players for subs to rest for barcelona.

edit: Chica to do us a favor and score an own goal.

That's an extremely negative line up for West Ham at home.

I would like for us to rotate and rest players, but not sure who should play. Jones, Smalling, Dalot and Lindelöf should all play. Then Martial, Lingard and Lukaku should probably start up front. Would rest Rashford probably because he needs to run like crazy.

Mctominay can be rested and maybe Fred too since they need to run and dominate Barca in the next game. Then play Pogba, Matic and Herrera in the midfield. If we do well then take off Pogba for Fred/Mctominay and take off one of the attackers that we plan to start against Barcelona in the second half.

Although I do think Mctominay can play all the games so maybe we should just keep on playing him. Fred having played so little worries me that he will not manage all the games now so best to rest him for this one. Matic should be good enough against a poor West Ham side.

Maybe give Sanchez minutes. He has been terrible for us, but maybe playing against his old team would fire him up and he can be an impact sub against Barcelona. Doing a Torres against them ;).

I hope we won't have to watch the Rashford-Lukaku combo, it has always been rubbish. The Martial-Lukaku combo was far better.

I like that midfield at the moment. Andreas has done well recently in my opinion, so it'd be nice to see him start a game again.

Jones at RB gives me flashbacks to the early 10s under Fergie where he and Smalling would occasionally play there. Weird to remember them there now.

4-0 United. West Ham are done and most likely already on holiday mode
I've been to 8 United games this season, and seen us score THREE goals.
I don't see us scoring 4 in one game right now.

However, as I'm not going there's some sort of chance

Makes sense, and hope we get into a comfortable position as quickly as often, so we can get some of those midfielders rested for Tuesday. If we're to have even the slightest chance they'll need huge games then.

    Young I am glad about.

    What. Another year here?
Really hope he is only a back up...rarely.
Sounds like we are after Bissaka.
Hope we are after a RB. Dalot will still get plenty of games. He might even play further up the field at times and can play LB.

Interested to see what kind of rotation Ole does. Hoping Dalot puts in a good performance and makes the RB spot his.

    Losing to Comeback Winning!
Shaw is out for our next 3 games, yippee.
    manutd.com said:
Luke Shaw picked up his 10th booking of the top-flight campaign in that same game and that means he must now serve a two-match ban, ruling him out against West Ham and the trip to Everton on 21 April.

Unfortunately, our no.23 has also earned himself a one-match ban in the Champions League after he was booked during the quarter-final first leg against Barcelona on Tuesday. As a result, he cannot feature in the return fixture.
Young is out only for this game if I'm not wrong. Graet news!
