Mata did with Chelsea, didn't he?which player has won the champions league?
Mata did with Chelsea, didn't he?which player has won the champions league?
Cause hes the only one to have won a league title?Yeah, that PL title Jones won is really starting to pay off now...
Ok.That is complete hyperbole.
Being given extensions doesn't mean they'll be starting matches. But they have been given extensions mate.
I'm asking you: They will be clearly here next season - How much do you think they'll play? I wager they'll feature a decent amount again.
How is it speculation then? If they weren't given an extension, then you could say I was speculating.
But they've literally been given new contracts...
We lost to a relegated Cardiff today not Manchester City. You certainly need at least 11 world class players to compete with city. They have far more than 11
I suppose not everyone literally, but you'd have been hard pressed to find a fan that didn't want him as manager in the moments after the PSG win. Some of us did not get all muppet-tastic.
I said they'll feature a decent amount.Being given extensions doesn't mean they'll be starting matches.
I imagine Smalling will, as much as I don't think he should.
Young and Jones though? Nah I can't see it, provided we actually use the summer wisely.
You obviously are speculating though, I'm not sure you know what the word means.
Saying Jones and Young will start a lot of matches next season is speculation.
Ah yeah he has. I was wondering if we somehow still had some from when we last won it.Mata.
Tell me: Do Liverpool have the same amount of world class players as City?
He is another old relic we have dusted out so that idiots can remember the glory days of the past.I can't help wondering what is it exactly that he brings to the club.
Is he a tactical specialist. Not obvious.
Is he there in order to use his experience to help Ole. Not obvious.
Is he a terrific coach. Not obvious.
Am I being negative.
I just feel underwhelmed; exactly as I felt when Ole was appointed.
Been wondering the same myself.I don't know why so many on here are high on Phelan.
He should be nowhere near the club IMO.
Well @Eddy_JukeZ just explained to you if it wasn’t for their president sacking Benitez they wouldn’t have won the first champions league. Do you think Woodward has the balls to do something like that? Perez six months down the line does it.Managers can drag clubs to success in spite of how they are being run. See Pochettino at Spurs or Benitez at Newcastle.
I'm not of the opinion that Real Madrid won 3 Champions League titles in a row because of their club president.
Point is we have a team full of winners - the idea they needed to have their egos massaged is stupid. They need to be managed.Ah yeah he has. I was wondering if we somehow still had some from when we last won it.
I am speculating, yeah, never denied that; I just can't understand why you deny that you are.I said they'll feature a decent amount.
What isn't speculation though is that they WILL BE HERE next season.
I know what speculating means. You're the one speculating that they will barely play. I see no reason to believe that.
And how exactly are these world cup and title winners helping us now? Van Persie won a title, shall we beg him to come out of retirement? Bet Van Der Sar can still catch too. This squad isn't getting younger or better.Cause hes the only one to have won a league title?
We did play some decent stuff (before tiring at around 60th min) plus got the results. The football Modle play is building from the back/high press/quick passes/really aggressive etc we did get glimpse of it at the start but after our injuries we went full counter attack. Without signings can we play that type of football consistently even with everyone fit ? NO, as we simply don't have defenders who can pass, midfielders who can press and attackers who can pass/while one can't control a ball. << any manager would struggle to play any type of high intensity to play football with these feckwits.Appart from the results it’s the way we are playing, are you seriously confident that with time and a couple of signings this will get better?
We have no indication that this will get better and still Ole’s attitude has changed, at the beginning he was ruthless saying things like “the survival of the fittest” “I will be successful here and not all the players will be here to witness it” and now it has changed to “we have to be where we are at the moment” “we are to far from the top 2” “we played well but it wasnt good enough”.
He has realized he is out of his depth so now he is lowering his expectations so he can keep the jon longer. It’s clear as watter, as time goes by he seems weaker and weaker.
I think there was a decent enough handful, but pretty much everyone conceded that Ed was in a position where he had to give it to him otherwise the fans would never forgive him. It turns out that was wrong too as if he’d have just waited, Ole would’ve gotten his thanks and goodbye this afternoon no questions asked.I suppose not everyone literally, but you'd have been hard pressed to find a fan that didn't want him as manager in the moments after the PSG win.
If you think this set of players are capable of winning the top prizes with better management alone then I wish I shared your optimisim.Point is we have a team full of winners - the idea they needed to have their egos massaged is stupid. They need to be managed.
Why would we give them contract extensions then?I am speculating, yeah, never denied that; I just can't understand why you deny that you are.
Saying that they'll be here is sort of speculating, you don't know what will happen in the summer.
If their president wasn't idiotic enough to appoint Benitez in the first place, he wouldn't have to sack him. He struck lucky with Zidane, and their squad had far more quality than ours does currently.Well @Eddy_JukeZ just explained to you if it wasn’t for their president sacking Benitez they wouldn’t have won the first champions league. Could you imagine the reaction if we failed to sign a player under Woodward's watch because of a fecking fax machine? Perez is an imbecile.
And let 29 year old Herera go for freeWhy would we give them contract extensions then?
Unless you believe that we gave them an extension to get money for them if we sell them?
So the president corrects his stupid decision. Do you think Woodward is going to do the same? He didn’t even need to rush in to appoint Ole. There was no need to.If their president wasn't idiotic enough to appoint Benitez in the first place, he wouldn't have to sack him. Erik ten Hag? He's doing well because Ajax have a golden generation and their structure is fantastic. His tactics and substitutions have been criticized a lot. The Spurs shambles is a great example. They brought in a tall striker and booted the ball to him and he did nothing to stop it. Loads of Ajax fans were far happier (pre-CL SF) with Peter Bosz at the helm. Who is now doing well with Bayer Leverkusen. The only reason you would mention Ten Hag is because Ajax got to the semis in the CL. I'd much rather have Bosz.LVG was clearly the wrong man, so a succession plan was pointless. If Pep was to quit today Arteta would probably take over and do a darn good job. On top of that we already have Ole on a huge contract, no use in not using him.
Erik ten Hag has shown what he can do with quality players. Get him in, get some quality players and get us on the right path.
Not saying that we should be winning the league bit we're better than what we've illustrated over the last two months. With a couple of good additions and a competent manager who knows what hes doing, we could be challenging. If you think this set of players are capable of winning the top prizes with better management alone then I wish I shared your optimisim.
I imagine the board gave Jones a deal with the intent of selling him, yeah. Why would we give them contract extensions then?
Unless you believe that we gave them an extension to get money for them if we sell them?
Exactly. And let 29 year old Herera go for free
I never said we were well run. If you weren't working yourself up trying to be smart you might've realised that.So the president corrects his stupid decision. Do you think Woodward is going to do the same? He didn’t even need to rush in to appoint Ole. There was no need to.
So according to you Real Madrid aren’t well run but we are. What happens on the pitch doesn’t matter as long as we get those sponsors.
A couple of good additions would not have us challenging, even if we had Guardiola at the helm. Not saying that we should be winning the league bit we're better than what we've illustrated over the last two months. With a couple of good additions and a competent manager who knows what hes doing, we could be challenging.
Always said it, Woodward is a moron.Exactly.
Makes no sense to me then. Young and Jones will CLEARLY be here season. We could have easily let those 2 go on a free. Ole/Woodward/whoever value them and wanted them to stay.
If they're not here next season, I'll gladly eat crow.
Allegri? Haven’t we suffered enough with defensive managers? Please let’s stay focused. If a better manager became available, Tuchel, Allegri, Poch...then get rid.
Sounds like him alright. Always getting romantic about small things like that or Fergie's parking spot. He might even be more small time than Moyes. He's already talking about top 5 being the targetHe’s going to be an absolute disaster. He made a big deal about the front 6 being academy players and you know this will be a big part of his philosophy going forward.
There was a clear statement he was trying to make with that line up today and it will be a total catastrophe. If he thinks we can get by with average players because they ‘represent what United is about’ or they are ‘one our own’ then we are in serious trouble (I don’t care how well Ashley Young represents this club, he’s fecking shite).
So they gave him a £120k contract with four year deal plus one, which will make him harder to shift so that they could sell him? Seriously what are you smoking?I imagine the board gave Jones a deal with the intent of selling him, yeah.
I doubt there will be many takers though.
Unfortunately for us, he seems to have made his most moronic decision in the aftermath of Jose's sacking.Always said it, Woodward is a moron.
Jose was despised by many from the get-go; Ole had nothing but accolades from the outset by the majority on here, so I wouldn't play the victim card, and feel he's too hard-done-by, but it seems more than reasonable to understand that there is a measure of fatigue at play here when there seems to be very little but mediocrity on display from the team after three, consecutive mangers, have attempted, and by the standards of the club, failed to ply their trade.Yes. Its not about that. Let him build his team. Anyone would need at least one pre season and season to do that.
Some of the fans here are turning on him faster than LvG and Mourinho. Thats crazy.
If he cant turn our club around for the better, I will not support him just because his norwegian and a legend.
