Good game today. Can find a pass through the lines into midfield. Our best CB by a mile. Must be our first choice RCB next season.

Decent performance again. I'm not sure we'd ever win the Champions League with him but we have all kinds of problems to deal with before we start thinking about whether Lindelof has a future here.

Only one with any sort of credit and he was actually trying to encourage our players unlike our captain who was busy talking to mike fecking dean.

Or actually took me a minute to remember who our Captain is. Oh how far we've fallen from Keano

Our captain.

The best at pointing towards his head/ Those turns/Loosing the ball/Can't cross or pass or shoot or beat a player or defend.

But god dammit he can shout and blame others.

United 2019.

Like Shaw he's not good enough but we have bigger problems elsewhere first.

Probably the only player in our squad that has consistently been at a good level for any amount of time. Enjoyed seeing him shouting at players and trying to lead, although it fell on deaf ears, obviously.

He’s one of only two or three that deserves to be at Utd.

Decent.

Best highlight of his game is him giving the talking to his teammates while Captain is on the side just pointing and blaming.

Give him the armband next season, probably the only one left that should wear it out of this lot after crossing out names on top of him.

Our best centre back by miles. Whether he's actually good enough is another question, but i think next to a top CB he's got another level in him.

Decent game, but if we want to get back to challenging for top honours he shouldn't be a starter.

The only one looking world class today. Why on earth was Young suddenly found in his position? A decision that made me doubt OGS.

Could go to sleep with his honor still in place unlike many others today. I am sure that Lindelof will become a crucial part of the team the following seasons, think he shows stability and playing ability.

yes we have much bigger problems that trying to replace him. He had a decent game too. The best United player today.

I'm still bewildered by the number of times he passes the ball to Jones (normally it is Smalling), when surely he must have realised that Jones is either cowardly or incompetent, in possession.

Good performance by Victor. But I'd like to see him take more responsibility for starting attacks.

It is better to keep the ball rather than force a pass that is not there. Would help if the other defenders could work any sort of angle to help but what can you do...

All the other players are either too static or not opening a passing line. We need a proper pre-season where our team can create passing dynamics.

Yep. Watch City when their CBs have the ball. Everyones buzzing around trying to create an option between the lines and moving into passing lanes etc. For us players are just static and waiting for the ball to move sideways until it eventually gets hoofed up the pitch.

The difference between the two is night and day and it's so sad.

Absolutely. Our CBs aren't great, but blaming any of them for our poor football is completely nonsensical.

It was interesting (and depressing) watching Ajax the other night. Blind was constantly pinging the ball forwards. The vast majority of his passes were nothing special; they didn't need to be, as there was nearly always a midfielder close by ready to be given the ball.

He's been one of the most improved players this season. He needs a reliable partner at the back for when he comes out with the ball similarly to how Ferdinand had Vidic or Liverpool with van Dijk.

For me, he's one of our only likable players and you can see it matters to him.

Agreed, although I’m still not convinced he’s good enough, think many of us have just been fooled because he’s the best of a bad bunch.
Will be really interested to see him next to a top CB though, a proper ball playing CB that unlike Victor, actually tries to pass between the lines and start attacks.

Doesn't it illustrate the much lower standard of teams in the Dutch league
Phil Jones would look more like Duncan Edwards in that league.

Rubbish.

Watch numerous clips of Smalling when he has the ball at his feet. It’s Sunday league stuff. Play begins at the back and if you don’t have a ball playing centre back you’re lost. This is one of the biggest problems at the club.

Without question. It’s one of the main reasons Spurs are a better side than us.

I wonder how he would fare in a partnership with Harry Maguire. Could be amazing.
I'm guessing it would be terrible because they're both pretty slow and if we plan to press and squeeze the game with a high line we will get done on the counter.

I feel like Rashford we're pinning our hopes on a player not good enough as a starter and it will come back to bite us.

I pointed out to the stat about tackles per possession in the Koulibaly thread, and Lindelof is on 0.09 compared to the Napoli defender who is on 0.8. Who do others think about it? I think it's a indication about Victor's passive defensive style. He rarely commits or challenges attackers.

How many does Van Dijk complete?
