Regular scorers of only crap goals or tap ins. No smashers remembered.

I'll start with the most famous for me.

Iain Dowie. Apparently he never scored with the foot. Just the napper. Probably why he has a head like half a toffee crisp.

And I can't remember those poachers Ian Rush or Inzagi scoring anything but 6 yard putts.

I know he scored good goals, but didn't RvN score almost all his goals inside the 18 year box?

Nothing but tap-ins inside the 6-yard box for us, but then scored an absolute belter for Real Madrid when he was on loan there. 25 yarder in to the top corner from the left side iirc.

Kuyt scored with a few powerful driving shots for us. Don't think he's in the same mould as some of the others in here.

Ian Rush is a great shout though. He's the subject of what is probably the shitest goals compilation I've ever seen.

I’ve read that Fergie insisted that Chicharito shouldn’t even try to shoot from outside the box. Which is weird, considering that he scored from outside the box in the exhibition game dedicated to his signing and, as you’ve mentioned, for Madrid a few games in his loan.

I think his teammates just tried to hit it off him as he was like a pretzel training wall.
The perfect description of Kuyt’s hat-trick against us

Probably the least impressive hat-trick that I’ve ever seen.

I may well be way off the mark but for a prominent scorer I can only ever remember jermaine defoe scoring routine striker goals. Good finishes but can't think of 'that goal' he scored. Kuyt probably has the odd half decent stroke of fortune, but scored awful goals as long as I can remember including the worst hat trick ever vs united

Edit its already being discussed

I reckon Klose comes pretty close (if we discount headers that is), despite scoring close to 250 club goals and 70 for Die Mannschaft.

Bas Dost?

Scored something like 60 consecutive goals with only one touch.

This is the Filippo Inzaghi show.
I assume all other suggestions are for second place, or at least they should be.

I'm not saying headers are crap goals (though impress me less than good finishes with the feet) but Tim Cahill only ever seemed to score headers, and loads of them, despite being about 5ft10. His positioning was excellent.

I also don't remember Lukaku scoring a great goal for us. Just poacher finishes. Has he rifled in a banger that I've forgotten about?

Klose is a good shout. I think all his worldcup goals came from inside the box and most of them were tap-ins from 2 meters.

Ruud Van Nistelrooy was a tap-in merchant. Rarely, if ever, scored for United outside the box. Still a legend in my book though.

Mario Gomez. The most underrated striker in his Era simply because he always scored tap ins. Has the second best goals/minute ratio in UCL history.

Underrated? I think he lucked out in being allowed to play alongside Bayern's golden generation, getting to score tons of goals at the expense of his team's cohesion. I think quite clearly him (and Podolski) starting against Italy in 2012 cost Germany their chance at the Euros, a mistake that had to be rectified at half time. It's of course not all about him, but Bayern began their current period of utter dominance and won the CL final the moment he was dropped for Mandzukic (who wasn't even that highly rated at the time).
His CV after Bayern (Fiorentina, Besiktas, Wolfsburg, Stuttgart) also kind of speaks for itself.
