The season that song emerged Carrick carried the midfield, playing the deep passing role of Scholes' latter years. It was an acknowledgment from the match going fans that his huge contribution was noticed, not a comment on scholes.
Scholes rated Carrick very highly, naming him a sub in his all time United team.
Carrick was a major player in the club's most successful period, it's crazy how you down play his impact.
Major players :-
VDS Evra Rio Vidic Scholes Ronaldo Rooney. Carrick massively overrated. He had one good season. He never carried us and once the major players had gone he carried us to the sum total of nothing.
As for him getting in Scholes united subs....we had the same midfield for about ten years. He's nowhere near the argument for those ahead of him.
Disgrace to compare him with Scholes. He wishes. Decent at best.
The last title winning season it was carrick and rvp who carried the team throughout that season.
From the 5 titles in 7 years - 3 ucl finals. Carrick was the main constant figure in United's midfield.
The players that played with him rate him very highly - that's the accurate test of his ability.

That's the season I referred to.
Midfield was the weak point of that team, it was the rest of that team...Gk, back four and attack that made that team great.
I think he was a decent player who had one great season and some pretty poor ones. He wasn't the one constant figure, he was often a sub particularly at the start of a season. There were seasons where he was mediocre to the point the fans were on his back on a match day, and match going fans are very patient and supportive.
I doubt any players rate him remotely closely to Scholes or Keane, and that's the comparison being made in the song....that you'd never believe he's not Scholes.

Wouldn't say anybody bullied him but for a while certain teams tried to get to him early to nullify his effectiveness and it worked, but he soon worked it out without SAF having to resort to putting a bruiser in there to protect him.
