Ole: Hei Christian, hvordan har du det?
Eriksen: Ja godt, hvordan har du det?
Ole: Ja, bra.

This'll be their first training session together.

I could be way off here, but that looks like a bit of Google translate there, literally translating "how are you doing?" which I imagine doesn't work in Scandinavian languages like that.

Imo we need 3 more players:
1. Holding DMC(Longstaff...Don't be daft).
2. Creative MC(Eriksen...more like it).
3. Right winger(Dybala would've worked :().

If we can't get all, getting 1 is not bad, after solving the CB and RB problems in this window.

The problem with that is that he will waste good years at a mediocre club. We might be on track already this season. Have a little faith in us.
Not if we dont sign anybody else we wont. If we sign Eriksen then yes maybe. Other wise I cant see it happening. We failed to replace Herrera and Fellaini let alone add a player to our already crap midfield plus will be a striker down when Lukaku leaves.

James
AWB
Maguire
And
Eriksen
Would be a pretty decent transfer window for me . Actually very good indeed
If those last 2 go gangbusters we've potentially doubled the number of world class players at the club.
Plus keeping Pogba -if he charges out of the blocks- makes us an eccentric shout for a cheeky title tilt if God blesses us with some very serious injuries to key players at City and Liverpool (come on God!).

I would like to see Eriksen and a proper replacement for Lukaku if he leaves. That would make us a lot stronger. That said, I think we are going in the right direction now. I think we will make top 4 and we might win the EL.

No way we let Lukaku go with no replacement Dybala is still on or we will sign someone or swap him. I really hope we get Erikson either way

I think (hope) we will get Eriksen. But I also think Lukaku will be sold after the UK transfer window closes and that way he wont be replaced.
Yes if we did get Erksen and a replacement for Lukaku we would be very strong and along with our other signings we would challenge . But its not going to happen.

Signing Eriksen would be fecking massive for us. He is one of the best players in the league, and solves one of our biggest issues, which is creativity. He also has an exceptional work rate and is constantly moving. The final ball, and dead ball delivery will also improve dramatically. A McTominay, Pogba, Eriksen midfield is automatically one of the best in the country, and if McTominay continues to develop the way he is, it’ll be one of the best in Europe.

Anyone complaining about a transfer window in which we sign Maguire, Wan-Bissaka, and Eriksen, needs their fecking head examined. Do we need more players? Sure. But is it completely unreasonable to say be patient and let the squad be built over a few windows? What’s happened in the past, under different managers is irrelevant. We have to rebuild, the right way, and so far this summer the recruitment has been spot on. Of course unless we sign five world class players in one window, it’ll never be enough for the mewling quims in here.

Will we get Eriksen? Seems too good to be true. But if we do, we will be very, very lucky; as I’d consider him the best player we have signed post Fergie.

Another attacking midfielder who's weak in the ball... Hopefully this doesn't go through. I don't want another Kagawa, Mata or Mkhitaryan.

You've gotta be kidding?

He's proven himself perfectly capable of coping with the physical demands of our games.

I can't sleep guys, if we got one more good signing in MF I would actually be super excited about this season!

Weak on the ball? That's the online football forum equivalent of Jack Lemmon saying the leads are weak. Eriksen is invariably top top class on the ball.

Nope. I've seen enough of his general play to know I'm no fan.

I was in the minority of not wanting Mata and Mkhi, too, who both were as "impressive" at their prior clubs. Outside of their stats, I've never liked any of these players style.

He's creative but, when pressed, lacks the ability of a D.Silva to hold off his opposing player. Same issues the 3 players I mentioned had/have for us.

Even if he comes and helps take the creative burden off Pogba we still don't have enough goals in our forwards.

I swear we could sign Messi and people will have something to moan about Eriksen is premier league proven far from weak.

Spurs couldn't pay his wages....

That's the reason players like Eriksen and Alderweireld are on the way out

I think they have SOME money. Hence a swap makes a lot of sense for them. Coutinho is an instant upgrade on any player they have bar Kane and arguably Son.

He's different class to the 3 you mentioned and has much better forward moving momentum. Only worry for me would be that his below par patches last season signal he's already peaked.

Well, I look back to the 3 players I mentioned and, imo, they were as good for Dortmund and Chelsea as Eriksen has been for Spurs. Bar Kagawa who I didn't know much about at the time, I never wanted Mata or Mkhi for the same reason I don't want Eriksen, and I think I was right not to want either based off their careers here.

It's not that far off, but it'd be more like:
Ole: Hei Christian, hvordan har du det? (the literal translation is correct, though I prefer "hvordan går det?", literally "how goes it?" but used like "how's it going?")
Eriksen: *sounding like he has a potato lodged in his throat* Fint, tak. Hva med dig? ("Good, thanks. How about you?", or literally "Good, thanks. What with you?" No one returns the question in full, that's just silly. You can also insert more commas, the Danes love 'em. A proper Dane would probably manage to cram four or five into those two short sentences.)
Ole: Joda, bare bra. ("Yeah, I'm good", or literally "yeah, just good/well/fine.")

Its a dream midfield signing. Please Woodward don't feck this up

What do the spurs fans make of these comments?

The comments are generally wrong, however I believe he downed tools to a certain extent this past season so I can understand the misconception. The one thing he hasn’t lost is his work rate in terms of running. He’s consistently at the top of the km run table so perhaps I’m wrong in my assessment of his commitment, which would potentially indicate a concern for any buying club if he can’t find his previous form.

I’d be glad to have him resign with us if he was fully committed to us and regained his previous form but I’ve got no issue with losing the 18/19 version of Eriksen, assuming we have a suitable replacement.

All that said, he’s been a good servant to the club so I wish him well if he leaves, especially if he goes abroad.

Woah this is a unique take.
Besides D. Silva who's too old & will never come here... Who then would you say is the attacking midfielder that we should go for that is stronger than Eriksen on the ball?

I don't think we need a AM, personally. For me, we should let Pogba be the AM like in Ole's first few games and bring in a DM and either a deep lying playmaker or a box to box CM. I just think that'd be a better balanced midfield instead of Pogba alongside another attack minded CM.

Its not about the future is it? Its about now. Dybala for example is 25 now. He wants to join the better team now not wait for us to get back on track he'll be 30 by then.

By the future I don't mean 5 or 6 years. We are already better than Tottenham now and we will challenge this year. We might not win it, but we are definitely on the up. Tottenham? Not even close...

Why are people so confident of signing him? Any progress or reports around it?

Daniel Harris from the guardian linked us with him.

Though I think most of it is hope that Levy will sell for some $$$ rather than lose him for free next year.

He would be an amazing signing, but I refuse to get sucked in by the speculation. I hope I’m wrong, but I just can’t see Spurs selling him to us.

Thanks. Although I have very little faith in Woodward getting this done. Moreover I will be extremely surprised if Levy sells him to a rival in the first place.

Feel the same way. I just can't see Levy selling to us.

Only way I could somewhat see it is if they went out and bought someone for the money, but I don't think Dybala would join Spurs nor does Bruno to Spurs seem to be an option either.

That’s a fair point. My thinking wasn’t really an ‘either/or’, perhaps I was being greedy by wanting both qualities.

And by ‘go past a player’, I don’t mean like Marcus Rashford. He’s no winger I know. But I mean like David Silva, or Iniesta basically. For that kind of role, where I guess he’d be playing. The extra dimension that is opened up by being able to dribble is huge in my opinion. And that goes for all the positions where a player is at the decisive/sharp end of play.
I'd say Gomes would fit that particular brief and signing Eriksen will make it a lot easier to blood him in without placing massive pressure on him. Eriksen is also the perfect age. He'll give us 3 top quality years and then as he slowly starts to fade, Gomes will take over, by which point he'll be 21.

Agree with all this 100%.
I too think Pogba on his own as AM is sufficient, with say Brozovic as DLP & a B2B like Partey would be mint.

Still can't get past your claim that Eriksen isn't good enough on the ball though. Is there an AM out there that you rate aside from Pogba/D. Silva?

Ohhhhhhhhh boy this thread will be busy tomorrow.

For the record. I'll take him, but I'm not picky. I'd take anyone with some class. This guy has proven to have it, and he's proven me wrong. I did not think he'd be this good in the Prem. So, I'll be living in the refresh button. Here's to hoping for some good news.

Crazy posts from you in this thread. I can’t even address it. It’s like you’ve never watched a football match before.
