I'd rather just play Greenwood, Gomes, Chong, and also hope for better seasons from Lingard and Sanchez.

Our attack is ok. I mean Rashford blows hot and cold but if given the minutes I am still hopeful he will get more consistent as he is a talented kid. As is Greenwood.

Our midfield is what really worries me. I am not convinced by any or our options there besides Pogba. Herrera was one of our best players.

I keep hearing Italian based journo's talk about how he completely lacks mobility nowadays... but he's still good for a backpost header.

Not sure if another slow, immobile player is what we need though.

He is 33, his injury slowed him down and he's moving to a new league. There's a reason why Juve want him out.

We are replacing a proven striker with basically a former player and for what? So that the Glazers can syphon more money out of the club?
Yes, missed 60 days and 16 games last season with injuries.

Really, you think our attack is ok? We have no right-winger; we have pretty much sold Lukaku with no sign of a replacement; none of our strikers have proved they can score 20 goals in a season, hell, 2018/19 was the first season that Martial and Rashford have scored over 10 goals in the league.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Man City outscored us. Tottenham may sign Dybala, whilst Arsenal have signed Pepe. How are we going to get near them when our attack is so lacking? We can only hope that Greenwood and Gomes actually play. If not, it will be exactly the same as last season.

I agree that the midfield is in a worse position, though, since we have absolutely no promise there. No youth players and no signings. I think we are going to struggle badly this year, possibly worse than last season.

This is a mistake. I know United lost Fellaini and Lukaku. On paper it looks like plan B is gone. On the other hand, we gained Maguire and still have McTominay. McTominay played as a striker for U-18s and U-23s. So he knows the role. I think we still have a Plan B.

Priority should be: 1) A proper CDM. 2) AM who has a good defensive game too (like Fernandes), 3) a right-winger. 3 players for Plan A. Please get Plan A right before Plan B.

Ok, but if we only have a few hours to get a player in then maybe let's buy that plan b option instead of getting absolutely no one.

Hard to get excited about this one after the talk of Dybala/Eriksen. Would rather just play the youngsters to be honest. He was a good player a couple of years ago but it's too late now.

Absolute flipping joke if we go for him.

We want high energy pressing. Mandzukic will not solve that problem. 2 years ago he could do it well. Now he’s not as enthusiastic in that front.

I really don’t want this to happen he’s not anywhere near the quality of our previous experienced strikers.

The over reaction on here is ridiculous, the guys a proven and experienced forward who's great in the air, he's going to be a cheap plan b option which we need!

Looks like this may be the transfer we're still working on. Not the most exciting but he'd still likely be first choice striker for us.

It's fine not to pay 15m for a 33 year old. Criminal that we didn't plan for a backup option.

Nah he'd be a squad option for sure, that's all Ole is looking for in terms of the attack IMO (ignoring Sancho next summer being an obvious target). He's not as good as he used to be anymore, but would be a useful change of style in games with his aerial threat and experience, so I'd be for it. Important to not overspend on that type of striker though, given it can easily turn into a situation where they just sit on high wages for a few years and play like shit.

Looks like it is dead.

Disappointing. What a shite window. Unless we’ve unearthed another CO92 and Ole is a magician — we’re going to be in trouble come Xmas.

edit: why in the feck did we wait until the last day of the window, though?Woodard is a fecking clown.

Signing him is underwhelming, not because he isn't good enough. it's just that I thought he would be the cherry on top after getting a midfielder or atleast a right winger. Season hasn't began and this club is already fecking me up:(

Would rather do without. Why sell Lukaku because, though decent, he doesn't fit into our style of play, and then buy the even more unsuitable and also 33-year-old Mandzukic?

I'd take him on a free as back up in case relying on Martial and Rashford backfires. Spending any actual money on him would be idiocy.

I was underwhelmed at this potential signing but we still need him, funny how we don't seem to be able to pull even this one off ha.

To the Llorente thread :D

Not only are going spend money we will give him a 2 year contract and pay him more than what he gets at Juve, which will probably be closer to 200k as he is on 167k gross atm.

I've never liked the player and was only ok with us signing him when the talk was £8M and it was Juve being easy because the Dybala/Lukaku swap was something both parties wanted, now there's no Dybala and they are talking £14M and he wants 150k a week at 33, feck that.

An update on Mario Mandzukic was promised...

It looks like the 33-year-old Croatian forward will not be moving from Juventus to Old Trafford after all.

I'd absolutely hate this signing.

He doesn't suit the style Ole is going for and he is past it.

High wages and a fee for a past it forward seems baffling for me. Just throwing money away, there would be little reward on the pitch and no re-sale fee so essentially just a poor footballing and business decision

Gomes' mum is still buying him clothes from Mother Care. He looks tiny out there.
Don’t worry. If he's too small then we can rely on Daniel 'constantly running in a straight line' James. He's fast

He just bossed a league 1 side this week, I don't think his size is an issue.
