    So excited for this!!
    I’m going:
    De Gea

    Wan Bissaka
    Lindelof
    Maguire
    Shaw

    Pogba
    McTominay
    Pereira

    Greenwood
    Martial
    Rashford

    The season is back!

And there's sure to be plenty of moaning and hopefully some nice moments along the way.

We've asked resident Chelsea fans some questions about David Luiz's departure, the return of Super Frank and what they think of our upcoming game, which you can read about in the Ask The Opposition thread.

Meanwhile, on our United Hour Podcast, the gang have discussed everything you could wish to know about the Chelsea game, feelings about the transfer window and lack of options to wear the captain's armband.

Hope the game gives us something to smile about to kick the season off.

I think playing Pogba in a 2 man midfield makes us defensively vulnerable. I wouldn't be worried if we had a strong and balanced attack that could outscore our opponents, but we don't have that. Against top 6 opposition I think it will be a mistake to be defensively vulnerable AND have an ineffective unbalanced attack.
What we should do is play Pogba as no.10 behind a balanced front 3 of Rashford, Martial and Greenwood, with Greenwood on the right of the 3.
Behind Pogba we should have McTominay and other as our 2 man midfield. I would go with Matic as he's the lesser of 3 evils. I don't think Fred or Pereira are defensively good enough at all.
Back 4 of Shaw - Maguire - Jones - Wan-Bissaka GK De Gea.
I'm one of the few that doesn't hate Jones and Smalling.

    Martial
    Rashford - Pogba - Greenwood
    Matic - McTominay
    Shaw - Maguire - Jones - Wan-Bissaka
    De Gea
The main strength of this team is the BALANCED front 3 supported to our best player, Pogba. It is also defensively solid. I think the balance of the team is so important and we've ignored it for 6 seasons.

Don't think it's what he'll do, but this lineup would work well IMO for this match. Plenty of energy in the midfield two, Lingard helping with defensive duties, lots of attacking intent against a side which may have a few wobbles about its own identity in the early stages of life after Hazard.

    ----------------Martial
    ----Rashford - Pogba - Lingard
    -------------Fred - McTominay
    Shaw - Maguire - Lindelof - Wan-Bissaka
    ---------------De Gea

Haven't watched a single preseason Chelsea game. Was impressed with Derby at Old Trafford last season. Has Lampard changed them? Judging by their results in friendlies, they have problems in defence.

Just hearing Ed Woodward has been registered as a Manchester United player for the 2019/20 season, Ed a midfield Dynamo in his Youth is eager to get started, he has been allocated the squad no:69

Early rumours are that he will play a disciplined roll shitting in front of the back-four.

Certainly no world class atackers or midfielder got past him and the Old Trafford gates

Would rather start James than Lingard to be honest. Or at least bring him on sharpish

I believe Lingard has more all-around to his game, even if that doesn't really include goals and assists. I imagine James will be the last 15 minutes of the match if the play has become stretched.

Very excited for the season to start for us now.

Looking forward to seeing people rating jones higher than maguire if we lose.

Would rather start with lingard than greenwood or james. Midfield is anyones guess, depends where we play pogba, if its further forward then mctominay and matic i would guess. Gomes at 10 if we play pogba in a two. Back 4 picks itself really.

The lineup I would like to see. With McTominay & Fred both being less adventurous.
Play as much with James as possible when they make it hard to go through the middle.

Excitement for tomorrow just took a little bit of a hit finding out that Jose will be in the studio for it. You just know his negativity will sink it’s way down to the players.

Trying my hardest to gee myself up for this and failing miserably. I totally gave up on any enthusiasm last season.

Yep, hoping for some encouraging signs tomorrow. I'm not up for another non-event of a season.

Think this is one of the weirdest United vs Chelsea games for sometime as I really don't know what to expect from either team this season and there's a sense that both teams will have to manage their limited resources well.

Having said this, I think we will win, provided our strikers are on form. Expecting Rashford and/or Martial to score.

Limited ressources ? I think you should be winning this game, they will have a young pair of CB, Pulisic seems alright but is no Hazard and wether it's Giroud or Batschuayi, you better hope you can handle them as you will face a lot harder in the coming weeks.

Think both will start, lingard as the 10 and James as the right winger and McTominay and Pogba in midfield. Reckon thatll be our go to set up.

Can’t see Greenwood starting, same goes for James. I expect Pogba to be given a lot of freedom to push on, with cover from Matic and McT.

Massive game for Ole, tough first game and getting off to a good start is imperative with the negativity at the moment which is why I think he’ll go for the safe options with a view to throwing James and Greenwood on in the second half.

    Can’t wait, 3-1 win!

I would like this to be the case but I think Ole will start Mata and Lingard. I can cope with Mata as a #10 so long as Matic does not play. Those two on the pitch at the same time make us play like we're at 60fps.

No surprise to see Sky Sports jizzing at the prospect of Frank playing some kids and completely ignoring just how many we’ll potentially be playing this season let alone the players we’ve already made first team players.

It's definitely all about Frank, as though we don't exist. That is why I badly want us to win and win well.

Very interested to see how it works if Martial is indeed the central striker and Rashford is wide - although I get they can interchange a bit.

Bearing in mind we didn't really attempt that in those last 2 months of last season where what we were doing wasn't working.

Central midfield will be interesting too. McTom and Pogba, or Matic/McTom combo?

It's nothing new when you do it though.
    Very true.

Terry, a bit of a Hudon-Odoi spell pre injury, and even less of Loftus Cheek, has basically been it for "Home grown" youngsters for you in 20 years!

Imagine if we win nicely, watching his interview would be golden.

He'd still claim that if he'd been allowed Maguire that would have been him though!!

All these people picking Pogba in the No 10 position have very short memories/ don’t know much about football.

Christensen as well but yeah, it's apples and bowling balls compared to you lot.
Although n fairness when Van Gaal was sprinkling round sh!tloads of debuts to youngsters it was utterly forced on him, whatever he reckons.

My heart says a 3-1/2-0 win to us, but my head tells me a 0-0/1-1 due to recent experiences of having my expectations being shunted.

We just never get any real recognition for just how much we do and have always done it though. Yes the ‘Class of 92’ is peddled about but literally every single season we have pretty much more than anyone else in the league yet we always get lumped in with the big clubs ‘not giving youth a chance.’ It’s so lazy.
