Sky Sports called my bluff
The team we put out today is worthy of a relegation battle. The team we put out against Chelsea was a team that could compete for top 4.
I was hoping you'd put full stops after each word so I could read it in comic book guys voice!Wurst United manager ever.
It is ridiculous but if this form continues for the rest of the season we’d be in trouble. Whatever way anyone looks at it, our current performances are relegation form. This whole idea is completely ridiculous but just the fact it's discussed shows how bad we have become. Depressing times
That’s highly debatable.Atleast we would win something next year if we did.
This is true and what makes the discussion relevant. We are the worst team in the league at the moment, it's really not that unlikely.
The teams that get relegated are the teams who struggle to score any goals, and that's us.
And with Ed as co-pilot it could be very likely. With Ole at the wheel - yes.
Losing Pogba and De Gea in the summer would've been catastrophic, but we sold Lukaku and Sanchez instead and failed to replace them. We're stuck in a rut and our current form is horrendous. I'm just saying...Leeds, in their last season in the top flight fifteen long years ago, had a relatively decent side with (ageing) seasoned professionals such as Harte, Barmby, Viduka, Wilcox, Bakke, Matteo and Batty alongside several talented youngsters of that era in Robinson, Pennant, Smith and obviously Milner. Sounds familiar? If I remember correctly they were stuck in a rut for much of the season, suffered horrible runs of form and were ultimately relegated.
I'm not saying the same fate will happen to us in the near future but if we lose both De Gea and Pogba this summer, fail to properly replace them and become even more complacent despite all the warning signs, relegation is not beyond the realm of possibility.
It really wasn't.100% true
I bet we'll struggle to get promoted. We needed pens to be the 17th spot League One Rochdale in League Cup.Atleast we would win something next year if we did.
Really? What have either Pogba or Martial shown you that suggests they will make any meaningful difference to this situation? Honestly. Pogba doesn’t give a toss and Martial is almost useless. It really wasn't.
Once you get Pogba and Martial back you'll win a game or two to get back in top half.
And yet we concede almost every game. Teams don't even have to attack us that much. If Ole is not coaching our attack, who's to say he is coaching our defence? What if it starts coming apart?Didn’t West Ham get relegated with a team including Di Canio, Defoe, Joe Cole, Carrick, David James, Les Ferdinand, Bowyer, Kanoute, Lomas and Trevor Sinclair ? A squad packed with international players and some among the best in the league got relegated so it can definitely happen.
You take out Pogba and Martial and we don’t look good enough to even score let alone win games, I don’t think we can keep blaming injuries anymore. With Wan-Bisakka and Maguire both in the team we look far better defensively than we have in years but we’re woeful in midfield and worse up top.
Our upcoming league games are Liverpool who are flying next then that’s followed by two away games so we could very realistically lose all three games and end up second bottom (don’t see Watford overtaking us over that period) which then kills all (if any is left) confidence the club has and the rot will set in.
Young, Jones, Rojo, Bailly, Fred, Matic, Pereira, Lingard and Mata are all players that need to be gotten rid of and then all need to be replaced on top of the replacements we needed to bring in for Sanchez and Lukaku and then we need to bring in a better manager and put a proper structure in place because what we have right now is fecking piss poor.
Part of me hopes we do get relegated just so the cnuting Glazer’s are run out of the club and closely followed by Woodward as they’ve overseen the destruction of the club and done it in record time, we were league champions only SEVEN fecking years ago.
This. If Pogba, AWB, Luke Shaw and Martial had been playing it would have been a different story. Yes, we're poor this season but a few signings woill improve us massively. It really wasn't.
Once you get Pogba and Martial back you'll win a game or two to get back in top half.
100% agree. Pogba can't be bothered most of the time and doesn't want to be here, he wasn't even effective against Rochdale. Martial has done nothing all season. Neither are the type of players you want in a relegation scrap.Really? What have either Pogba or Martial shown you that suggests they will make any meaningful difference to this situation? Honestly. Pogba doesn’t give a toss and Martial is almost useless.
I agree, we are stronger with all of those players in the team but Pogba and Martial alone will not drag this team out of its slump. Neither are the right characters for that.This. If Pogba, AWB, Luke Shaw and Martial had been playing it would have been a different story. Yes, we're poor this season but a few signings woill improve us massively.
Martial took his goal very well v Wolves. Also seemed to play well v Chelsea? Also should've got a penalty v Palace. Small sample but that's the only three games he's played this season.Really? What have either Pogba or Martial shown you that suggests they will make any meaningful difference to this situation? Honestly. Pogba doesn’t give a toss and Martial is almost useless.
Oh man, I wasn’t worried until reading this comment. No jokes we will be calling in Big Sam soon.
No offense mate, but if you think lingard would be an automatic starter for most clubs you've not been watching him.No way you are getting relegated. Your team is far better than what they are showing right now, it's an anomaly that will corrects itself during this season.
Look at your defense, arguably the best GK in this league. And bar Liverpool, you probably have the best defense on paper.
Midfield and attack are clearly your problem right now, but with Pogba, McTominay, Martial, Lingard and Rashford, you have 5 players that would be automatic starters for most teams in this league. It's a matter of time, and players being fit, before you start winning again.
That bounce came about because the players felt Ole liberated them from the evil Tyrant Jose. The difference this time around is the players don't hate Ole, and why should they? They are seemingly permitted to underperform every single week and not get called out for it, all the while earning a ridiculous sum of money for the privilege. The players are content. I don't expect them to suddenly start playing for their careers just because a new manager has been installed. On the contrary, in fact. With Ole in charge? Absolutely.
Perfect Storm.
- Incapable manager out of his depth.
- Predictable style of play.
- Poor coaches.
- Shit squad.
- Inexperienced kids being relied upon.
- Zero fighters in the entire squad (apart from Maguire and 1-2 others). Nobody with the spine to roll up their sleeves and drag us out of a relegation dogfight.
If Ed bites the bullet, no - we'll get that new manager bounce at the very least and finish around 10th. I think we'll need to actually hit the bottom 3 before Ed fires him though.
We're going to need to buy a player or two who can reliably score goals. Will these players be available in January? When discussing relegation, you normally ask whether there are three teams worse than yours. Well, we just lost to one the favourites for the drop.
As things stand, it’s a possibility. We struggle to score and have a manager completely out of his depth. The reason I still regard it as highly unlikely is our ability to spend in January and the fact we should have a new manager by then. Still, it’s testament to the demolition job Woodward has done over six years that this thread even exists.
