All midfielders should have skill, mate.

Last years CL final was a midfield battle between Winks/Sissoko/Alli and Fabinho/Henderson/Winjaldum. McTominay would have improved both those midfields.

Unfortunatly he does not get to pass the ball to Kane/Son or Salah/Firmino/Mane. Nor does he have someone next to him complementing him well. McTominay is not a complete footballer. Few is. But put him in a team where he can play to his strengths and have someone next to him who have the qualities he dont and he will thrive.

We are clearly looking to replace Pogba.
I have a feeling that if we sign Havertz, Pogba will leave.
From what I saw, I still have reservations about Havertz adapting in Epl. He looks a bit gangly and lightweight.
But I don't see him playing every week so I cannot say really.
I think pogba will be off this summer most probably... The constant rumours plus most probably no cl football certainly makes it seem a distinct possibility
Getting havertz and building a midfield around him would seem a good option but I can't help but think that the only thing we have going for us is that we could offer him a lot of money and so could juve Bayern psg barca real Chelsea city Liverpool and there could certainly be arguments for him preferring any of those.

When he will have at least half of these clubs all over him in the summer (Liverpool, City, Bayern, Dortmund, PSG, Juve Barca and Real), i doubt United will have any chance whatsoever, especially with no CL football. Money others have as well, and they have better managers, squads, success and most of them a clear short to mid term plan/future.

Nope 100% said coach and he was an assistant manager, so did both roles. So obviously he was wrong.
He was assistant coach, his job was mainly to translate for Robson, but at the end of the day he was effectively part of the coaching staff

He's not having a great season although the team as a whole hasn't been performing well. It's certainly not a second season syndrome because he has had two great seasons for a player his young age, so the talent is definitely there. It's not helping that he's been moved around Bosz's formation also, sometimes playing as a CAM and sometimes as a RW.

Of course United are ‘interested’, as if they wouldn’t have been scouting him in bits for the last 5 years. Are they going to get him though? He’d be a great signing but it would only be worth his while if he was signing to play for a coach who could develop him.

Does the mirror count as a reliable enough source to move this to the transfer section as this is the link I’ve been waiting for for months now.

Would be a huge statement and the prospect of having someone who should keep Mata and Lingard out of the team should fill us all with joy. However the realist in me just says this never happens and especially not in a January transfer window.

Would love to sign him but got a horrible feeling he will end up at either City or Liverpool if he was to come to England

I'm not sure I could see him at city (unless de bruyne or foden or Silva (b) left ) ... Liverpool though would seem a horribly good fit though
I think if City don’t win either the Prem or the CL, I can see them going on a massive spending spree. Hopefully he doesn’t end up at either those two.

From what I’ve seen, you can basically get the same thing in blue for half the price in Zaniolo.

I’m firmly in the ‘if we let Pogba go to Real, we must get Odegaard in return’ camp though. I’d take him over Havertz any day.

I'd say he's been better than all those players this season so far bar Fabinho.

He completely bossed Jordan Horrenderson last weekend to the extent the captain got subbed off. Love to see it. He just plays for a top team. Never be a top player.

I wouldn't want Winks and Sissoko at United. Both very average too.

Him, Sancho and whatever other world class youngster out there would be mad to come to us. We are a real mess right now.

Wish he would talk about his plans on how to accomplish something worthwile on the pitch again, instead of talking about Bayern vs Madrid vs Barca.

Hahahaha true  He's been average this season, sad to see but I don't think the constant tactical shifting of Bosz has helped as well. Sometimes he plays RW sometimes CAM, Leverkusen on a whole are a mess.

It’s probably thinking like this that makes us where we are. McTominay is good but not even close to Henderson, Wijnaldum or Fabinho. Embarrassing to debate.

McTom doesn’t really pass the ball period. He isn’t a creative midfielder. He certainly would not have improved either of those sides, especially Liverpool’s.

No the reason we are where we are - is because we don't have more players who are as good as McTominay.

Well - Fabinho and Wijnaldum are one thing - but they are also 7 years older than McTominay, but I would take McTominay over Sissoko, Winks and Alli any day

It’s giving too many chances to mediocre players that makes us where we are. The likes of Young, Lingard, Mata should have been disposed of years ago. But the amount of chances they get from management is unfathomable. To be fair to McTominay he’s not in that bracket of mediocrity but overrating players is what keeps us at this level.

We’re the type of team that if McTominay dips in form for 2 seasons, we’d be hanging on to him hoping he can regain the form of early 2019 season. Calling him as good as Fabinho or Henderson at this stage helps nobody. For all his top mentality and ‘talent’ he has achieved feck all so far so don’t compare him to Henderson, don’t compare him to Fletcher. Let’s hope he can survive when he can compete against genuinely talented midfielders.

The delusion among our fans has reached crazy levels. Anything to grasp onto I suppose.

McTominay will be a bench regular or Championship player by 2021.
So you're saying we'll sell him within the next 3 transfer windows? I highly doubt that'll happen, only because we'll be sauntering at the same level come 2021 with Ole still at the wheel.

False. Wijnaldum 6 years older and Fabinho 3 years.

Re Mctominay. You won't help him by calling him a championship player either.
I know he s still inconsistent (young and learning) but he also already has good performances against Barcelona, Psg and Liverpool a couple of weeks ago.
So whilst I agree he has areas in his game where he can improve, the potential is clearly there. He just needs to put in these performances week in week out.

I never called him a championship player. I called him good in my post above but it’s delusional comparing him to Liverpool’s midfield.
