I don’t get the striker thing, Ole said he decided against it in the summer as he did not want to hinder the progress of Mason.
Can will be pushed on us as maybe a Pogba angle but he looked decent when he was at Liverpool so he is a possible I guess.
If we are building for the future then surely we can make one good purchase in January and although I have only seen YouTube clips Soumare from Lille looks like he could easily adapt to England.
he did say in the summer he wanted a replacement for Lukaku

are you sure?

Hows he looking these days. Haven't watched PSG much recently. He hasn't played much though so he's probably gettable. Added to the list.
You're right he hasn't played that much as I believe he's been injured but since he's been back he hasn't been able to get in ahead of Icardi, who's been scoring for fun. This is even with Mbappe who's missed a few games recently too and Neymay being out (just back this week).

In fact the only game he started recently was against Brest in Ligue 1 (who I happen to have a season ticket too) and he was very unimpressive. PSG didn't even look very effective other than Di Maria (annoyingly) and he was not a threat all game. Pace was neve a but thing for him but he seemed even slower. Couldn't get in the end of anything created for him and didn't show any hold up play of note. For all that people say about Icardi and his lack of build up play, PSG looked so much better with him in the team, and he scored the winner.

For me, even on loan, Cavani would be a big mistake. A player that looks like a shell of himself physically at the moment and maybe even lacking motivation. There's been a couple rumours of the MLS for him and that should say a lot.

I don't think we're going to get anyone, loan or buy. There will be plenty of rumours and briefings but all it will be is just that - buying time. Come mid-January, the papers will be briefed that 'the right players aren't available' which we already know. The board need to keep us in the news with a positive slant so we'll be linked to players to suggest we're trying to improve our situation but we won't genuinely be linked with anyone.

Bale would make a lot of sense on a six month loan! His performances for Wales have shown he still has great ability and he can play anywhere across the front three! Add in a decent CM (Rakitic) and we’d be well set until the summer

In my opinion I do not believe that Madrid agree to loan Bale, especially in the middle of the season, and without obtaining a top reinforcement.
We would lose an important option on attack and in July Zidane/club would have the same problem.

Aleksandr Sobolev is another we have shown interest in. One of the top scouts has recommended this guy, Think he is 6' 5" or something like this. Scored 10 goals and 3 assists in 16 games.

The only business I'd like to see us make in January would be to sign Bruno before Mou snaps him up. Something we should of done in the summer. Signing geriatrics on loan just wouldn't work. Cavani and Rakitic are finished at the highest level. Has Mandzukic played this season? What player realistically is going to come sufficiently motivated to change country for 4 months in the middle of winter? Money can only go so far. Falcao and Schweinsteiger proves it's not worth the risk. If any of them had the charisma of Ibra to rub off on the younger players then it would maybe be worth it but they don't, so not for me.

Never heard of him before. Thanks for mentioning. Only seen him on Youtube and looks decent but I know that is not much to go by. Decent scoring record and good age, as I've read our ideal age at the moment for signings is 23 and he'll turn 23 soon. Could possible be available for very cheap. Do you know much about him?

No don't follow Russian football. A mate showed me a write up about a top scout from United recommending him. Though someone would know more about him. We are linked with about 500 players. I would be happy with a midfielder and a striker, whether it's loan deals or not, I don't care.

Seeing a United scout is recommending him, there should be something decent about him that they reckon will benefit us. Agree that we need to to get a striker and midfielder. As seen before, another injury to Martial and we are screwed. Also I think McTominay is going to a big miss today and this shows our lack of squad depth and will be interesting to see what team we put out today but this shows we definitely new new recruits in that area in this window.

But you'd save the wages on him and get rid of the PR headache. Plus you have Rodrygo, Brahim, fan favorite Lucas Vazquez and Asensio will soon come back. You actually have decent cover in that position unlike let's say centre forward or defensive midfielder.

It could be, but those kinds of deals should be done in summer.
Now, even if he is in trouble with the fans, is still important.
Asensio won't be until March or April, so this season is lost for him, and Brahim has barely played.
If you tell me that someone comes with a purchase offer, we release his contract for Mbappé´s piggy bank , it might be reasonable to face the important part of the season without him, but to give him away now...and actually, I don't think that between United and Madrid there is a very fluid communication.

From the current squad I think that only Mariano can leave, who has not played a minute and does not want to be transferred (earns 5 million net !!), or Isco, who the federation has recommended leaving a few months to go to the Euro.

A loan deal would only include fringe players,
So Bale, Mandzukic, Rakitic,?

After the issue with the flag he got booed and everyone here in spain is calling it the worse ever (calling it historic)! The fans want him out.

Bale and Rakitić on loan would be brilliant.
Bale might be a good shout until the end of the season, as long as he stays injury free. His wages would be a stumbling block. If we were to get him, do you think we would be able to get him to reduce his wages? If not do you think the £600,000 I've read he is on would be worth be worth it until the end of the season?

I see Ole is already pretty much giving up on getting the players he wants in January. Wonderful... but if he's going for loans, we could do a lot worse than asking Zlatan to come to rescue us

Sorry for this, your thread and intentions deserves better but WTF.

Rebuilding project. Long term plan.
Once again what‘s going on?

Only three months ago he was perfectly happy with his squad. Ok. Now we “may look at loan deals to strengthen the squad for the rest of the season”. WTF is this? Trusting youths? Building a squad for the future?

I don’t trust anything Ole Gunnar Solskjær says if this is the reality. Top four! No excuses.
We went Larsson on loan in 2007 and at the same time still having faith in the young players Rooney & Ronaldo. What’s the issue with loan move? Can’t see it stopping the manager to keep playing & relying on young talented players like James, Martial & Rashford.

can we stop calling martial and rashford young players... football is not played by 40 year olds. mid-20s is very much the norm. rooney was young when he started (16)

2 signings in Jan is the minimum we can do. If one or both are loans so be it. That said we shoukd ook to make permanent signings in Jan so we can buy more come the summer.

The Jan window is too hard story is bollocks. If you do the work and negotiate for players months leading up to it you can get the right players. We just don't put in the effort it seems.

Real would most likely pay half to get rid of him.

Yeah it would be a good deal only on smaller wages if possible. Maybe he'd agree to get playing time.

If Real were to pay half his wages that would make me happy and would definitely take him. Although I'm concerned he had a calf injury which kept him out for 6 games in October and he has had a few of them before.

Could we get Rakitic, Emre Can & Bale on loan and buy Haaland to go all fecking out in an attempt to win the Europa League? Like would that break any rules. My understanding is that the cup-tie regulations have been loosened in recent years which would make this a legal option.

An ambitious club would take this risk. I'd love us to bolster our squad and really go all out to win the bloody thing. Highly fanciful the club would do this though unfortunately.

So he tried what he thought was correct and now has seen it’s not working. So he just has to continue on so he doesn’t break his word?
Or should he go the Jose route and alienate half the squad, as that sure turned out well?

Can’t actually believe United now need to scab round for loan players!
He tried and this is the result. Sorry for having a go at you but Ole is totally clueless. Worst United manager in my lifetime.

If it comes down to this... it's easy.
Just get Bale and Can.

I would rather loan back-ups and then go all out in summer, than trying all month to buy 1 or 2 and failing to get anyone in.
