Greatest headed goals...

Typically, I find headers amongst the more boring type of goal. That said, there is always the odd exception, and in light of the latest Air Ronaldo offering this week, thought we could discuss some.


This one from Hernandez springs to mind.


Another Air Ronaldo one for United.


Martinelli earlier this season was pretty special.


This probably takes the crown though. To have a Puskas nominated header is some feat, and it is one of the best I’ve seen.

On a side note, Emmanuel Amunike once scored a diving header from the 18 yards out, can’t find the vid though.

The Ronaldo vs Roma video would be great if the header wasn’t cut off. Whoever made that video needs a flogging.

In any case, the Van Persie header is the best and most unique I’ve seen.

One of the few players who could consistently score opportunistic goals in seemingly impossible situations.

Maradona was surprisingly good with his head. Here's a brilliantly lobbed goal against the greatest defense that ever existed — Baresi, Maldini, Costacurta & Tassotti with no other but Frank Rijkaard providing a midfield cover. Of course, the most important part of this goal is his run to beat an offside trap, but the finish is still spectacular — Maradona really could do anything with the ball with any part of his body (even his bloody hand ).

I hated that tie since we got royally robbed but Ronaldo's header was something surreal. And it was in the 1 1 game in Madrid.

In terms of uniqueness and aesthetics I'd go with van Persie vs Spain and van Basten vs Real Madrid (I see a trend forming here!). Add in one of the trademark Cristiano's headers (any one of the lot) simply to enjoy his stupendous leap.

Saw the thread title and this was the first goal that came to my mind. Absolutely unforgettable thunderb*stard. Glad someone got it here. Marco van Basten scored some of the most memorable and beautiful goals I’ve had the privilege of seeing (sadly only on video).
