Yes.

Disregarding the multiple other issues with opting for the 58th minute, it's tactically unsound: it will inevitably lead to less people actually walking out (many who might otherwise have considered it won't, because they find it tasteless and disrespectful).
Most people were leaving around that point last home game anyway

or just not show up.
That makes more sense a 'no show' is definitely a more tangible expression of frustration.
Also takings in the Mega store will be down and so will be all the food/drink franchises, programmes not sold etc. will all hit where it hurts in the income. OK only a drop in an ocean, but it much better than some idiot walkout at some arbitrary time that no one knows for sure just when it will be and if the games poor whether fans are leaving because of that fact or to protest.

TBH seems half-baked idea anyway, Glazers et al will do nothing until the financial situation changes.

However if you want to make a valid point then don't turn up at all... (probably on BT Sport or Sky Sport anyway) ...sacrifice price of one admission to show you care!

(NB I shall be going though as I've promised my Grandson I will take him, it will be only the second United game he has ever seen live, no way would he leave halfway through the game, sorry!)

Do it when the second half kicks off, not the 58th minute. Jesus.

Literally. Ref blows for kick off, start to empty the stadium. Much more effective.
It would be more effective if the stadium emptied at the end of the first half. Imagine coming out in the second half to an empty/half-empty stadium. That would be really jarring.

@Heinzesight had the best idea. Just don't go to your seat for the first 20 minutes. You could even watch the game in the concourse. This would give maximum impact, given the ground would be empty at kick off, but also allow the fans to return to their seats and get behind the team until the end.

That said with the minutes silence planned do it the following home game instead.

Hopefully someone with a working brain that organizes this will realize that its beyond tacky to use the clubs darkest moment to protests club ownership and lack of transfers. The two should never be mentioned in the same breath.
Yeah, agreed.

Yeah, fair enough - but that's obviously different. Anyway, if the 78th minute is too late - pick a round number that has no particular symbolic meaning, then. 60th - whatever. Point is that many find 58th a bad idea and will boycott the protest for that reason (but not because they're against the thing itself on principle).

While I respect everyones decision, do we need more turbulence at the club? More negativity in press? Press that loves us having rough times.
We need different people taking care of sport business in the board Room but I think this is not time for anything else but getting behind our manager and players. They need all sort of support in tough times. The question about owners, DoF, manager and so on should be in summer. Not here. Not now.

It's like lancing a boil.

Doesnt matter how much turbulence it causes or how much negative press coverage, if it gets rid of Woodward and Ole it's worth it. Even if it's only a fractionally contributing factor.

Walk out is a lot better than not show up, imo. Especially during a televised game.
I disagree. I think not showing up would be way more effective. Especially if it’s 50k+. The problem is you would never get this to happen.

I agree with this to a point. I think the players know fans are not happy. The owners and Ed must know it too. A no show or walk out would reaffirm that but it would have a negative impact on fans and not the players or the board.

There are a lot of ways to protest. Chanting, singing, posters, banners, social media discontent etc. I feel like the one's who will be most negatively impacted from a mass walkout will be the players, no? What does that achieve then?

A young squad, and we're going to completely demoralise them. The players aren't good enough, but is that their fault? What are they gonna do, resign from the club and stop trying? It's a failure of the club that we have such a poor team, but making the situation worse doesn't help anything.

Go to the game, support the team, like we always do through good times and bad, stay at half time chating about the Glazers, after the match even, but for that 90 mins we should just try and support our the lads, they need it now more than ever. Walking out is just going to make a situation worse, and to be honest, this is the kind of thing I would expect from the toxic Arsenal fanbase, not Manchester United.
Agree with you. People, as much as a respect, must think about the impact on players, manager and other things. It is not just ”out with Ed and Glazers”. We have to think about others.

I think this is a good idea and would send a powerful message but agree with others saying it shouldn't be on the 58th minute. There was always going to be resistance to that so less people will join in.

What about a walkout on the 68th minute? 68, a reminder of great times when we had our first European triumph.
Yeah, 68 is more poignant but the later in the game it gets the more it just looks like people leaving early to catch the tram or beat traffic...that many people leaving at the same time would take 10-15 minutes to start to make the ground look empty and then we’d be around the 85 minute mark which would look poor.

No doubt the club will pre-plan some sort of tannoy announcement saying ‘due to health and safety please stay in your seats’ or some shite.

Not going in until 20 minutes works, it has more impact but like @TheReligion said, it can’t be done v’s Wolves due to the mintute silence.

I agree, but unless a figure something like 50k + of the actual match going fans do take any sort of action its a meaningless protest and just adds to the debacle that's going on within the club.

Totally agree. The last anti-Glazer "G+G scarf" protest did I believe affect the team performances and many fans were convinced that the chance of United winning a record breaking fourth PL title in a row went down the pan that season, because everyone was distracted by this protest. Admittedly we are not in that position now, but this kind of thing does impact on many others at the club, even more than on the Owners.

Of course, but you will never reach those numbers. Realistically, I was thinking more of 2/3k people (even that is a stretch imo). If 2-3k people don't show up, it wouldn't even be noticed. if, however 2-3k people stand up at a certain minute in the game, it would be picked by the cameras, commentators etc.

Why not the 15th minute? They have been here for 15 years. :(

I think the walk out is a great idea but agree half time would make way more sense. No ties to Munich as it’s just not needed and there would be no debate between fans when to do it, they’d have bags of time.

Could even make the place deafening from 40-45 mins with chants.

Also like someone else suggested a lot of people could watch the game from the concourse

The supporters of the club are proving on this thread that they are about as organised as the management, team and coaching staff.
The team don't turn up so neither should you.
They waste your money on shite , stop buying their products.
Buy not supporting the club you are supporting the club and saving it.

I fully support them but there is absolutely no grace in using the 58th minute for this.
This is a difficult one and in a sense I agree but when you consider that once people shed blood and lives for this club, then some comparison between what was and what is should be made. I wonder what Sir Bobby feels when he sees what his beloved club has become today?
Whatever the wrongs and rights this club is being destroyed from within and it’s a crying shame.

Have we not been given a lot of money to spend since Sir Alex? If half of those players we bought were good enough, we'd not be in this position. That said, we've had managers in, who have failed to take us back to the top. We can keep spending, but it won't change until we do something about it. Not sure how Glazers are the problem. Woodward, on the other hand...............

The Glazers take some of the blame because they still haven't realised Ed Woodward and his mates are a problem. We aren't Manchester United anymore, we are Jobs for the Boys United.

I doubt THAT many actually follow through but massive respect to those planning this and massive respect to the fans that actually follow through. THis needs to become a regular thing. All Ed cares about are those conference calls, the more uncomfortable the fans can make those for him, the better.
The Glazers are asset strippers, they really do have no interest in football, and have no idea of the culture and history of MUFC. I admire Ole, he is trying to rebuild United with two hands tied behind his back -well done him! Mourinho only wanted 'glory' and tried to buy it, but we all know that 'glory ' is hard fought for. For those fans who keep bleating and want Pochittino, do you really think he could do any better? Well, in my view the answer is a resounding 'no'. After all, he was sacked by Tottenham. So let's get behind Ole and the team, positivity is what's needed now. I've supported MU through thick and thin for the past 30 + years and I see hope with Ole.

Ahh, I see. I guess if you look at it like that, then yes. But in terms of money, we've had a lot to spend and have not spent it in the right way.

It's the fact the money is being spent so badly. No planning, no style, just bring in anyone if they fit the team or not. Gimmicky signings at times as well. Ole supposedly wants to play counter attacking football, then sign players who suit that. AWB does not.

True. Don't agree with the AWB bit, though. Think he's more suited to counter than a possession based team, but I definitely understand the point you have made and agree. We need a DOF! See my thread! :D

why not walk out, in like the 10th minute. or just not show up.
Because tickets aren't cheap and what people are effectively doing is just throwing away £40 odd. If people want to do it then fair enough, I'm not sure it will do much to be honest but it's their prerogitive but i fully understand why people would want to stay. Especially if they aren't season ticket holders and have had to specifically buy that ticket.

Way too possible that this backfires spectacularly with a 500m panic shopping spree on all the wrong players.

Joel, they're going to kill us! Just buy! Buy more! Buy anything! Buy more of anything! It's not even our money!

Zero possibility of them replacing Woodward.

Ten years from now they'll write articles about the day Uunited supporters took action only to ironically cause the clueless Glazers to drive off the cliff.

The Glazers take some of the blame because they still haven't realised Ed Woodward and his mates are a problem. We aren't Manchester United anymore, we are Jobs for the Boys United.
We’ve paid hundreds of millions out of the club to pay the Glazers’ “dividends”. We’ve spent over a billion pounds since 2005 in payments against debt - principal, interest and dividends too. We’ve paid dividends even in years when we’ve reported losses (and not spent).
In all that time (15 years, no less) net debt” has reduced from 660 Mn to 511 Mn. Sorry, but that one billion (add inflation to that now) would finance multiple rounds of duds and still leave fecktons left for spending again. And the annual dividends could finance wages for multiple Alexis Sanchez level (on wages) players.
So please don’t live with the illusion that Ed is the only issue. The Glazers have sucked the life out of the club and continue to do so.

What exactly was the plan for the 58th minute then? I've read that it was to exit the stadium and congregate at the Munich plaque.

I’m not saying I’m happy with the goings on but try explaining it to 2 kids under 11 who absolutely love going there (I only bring them twice a season ) that we’re leaving 10mins into the 2nd half. Sorry but it’s not happening , I’ll chant and I’ll have the green and gold scarf on but walking out - not a chance.
It would actually be a nice life lesson if you explained why people are doing it. If I know anything about my kids it's that their is something else to keep them happy or treat them to. But you are right, I wouldn't knock anyone for not walking out when they have a few kiddos in tow. Do fecking not buy merchandise from the store though. Get your souvenirs from the vendors around the ground.

I would spend the entirety of the game with Woodward and Glazer chants from minute 1 to 58, then all stand and applaud for the 58th minute then spin around and walk out.
