It's only a short term loan and we desperately need another striker with Martial being inconsistent and Rashford out. There aren't many available right now since all clubs will want to get a replacement in which they won't. Ighalo might surprise us.

So for this season we've basically swapped Lukaku for Ighalo, only we've not had him for the first 6 months. We are funny.

Think this could end up being a great signing if he’s still as good as he was at Watford. That’s a big IF though

We’ll get ridiculed for this, but spurs were in for him too, people will obviously forget that though, and there weren’t many better options for a cheap, no risk deal.

it’s better than nobody

Genuinely interested to know how his name came up in conversation re a possible striker.

Not against it per se, just curious.

I bet if he comes he will score more than Martial and that says more about Martial than it does Ighalo

There's no way Ighalo is the best striker we could've got on loan this window, but I suppose if the plan is to have him on the bench in case anything serious happens to Martial then it's not the worst idea. He was top scorer of the last AFCON so he has that going for him at least.

Very good signing. Loan and option in the summer. Going to suprise people in here. He was very useful in Watford and got that mobility in him to play across every position attacker/Wing. Only thing is that he is just back in pre season and question is how good his fitness is. I’ll say that he will score some goals. Well done.

So when we need a goal and Mason and Martial are already on the pitch... Who is more likely to get a goal? Him or Lingard?

When one of Martial or Mason inevitably gets injured... Wouldn't it be useful to have a back up? Who has cost us no money?
Not if he's shite, people moan about Lingard but you think a trash striker from a bin league is going to be better? It's insane, at least the likes of King and Piatek play in proper leagues.

Someone that isn't trash and who has been playing proper football for the last 3 years? Out of all the players we have been linked with for the striker role he's by far the worst option as he's been out there for way too long and was never that good to begin with.
It's deadline day in January. Most clubs don't want to sell their strikers mate. We have him on loan and hopefully Rashford will be back in another 6-8 weeks. We will cope.

He used to play in Norway. His agent is a business partner of Ole’s agent. You do the rest of the thinking.

Shocking from the club, considering he will also have to be quarantined.

It’s like we’ve fecked off all our scouts. It’s either one from the old boys network or a player that’s world-renowned. Can’t be anything in the middle. They don’t “get” the club.

tbf both Chelsea and Spurs having been trying to get a striker in the window longer than us and both have failed to do so

Hopefully he won't be needed too much.

In Watford's first year in the Premier League he was really quite good (I remember him giving Liverpool a torrid time just after Klopp took over) but then the rumours started and his form seemed to suffer, probably due to being slightly distracted, and he only got 1 goal in the first half of the season after. Then they sold him to China where he's been for 3 years so in reality it's 4 years now since he played good football in a strong league.

A deal like this makes a lot more sense than blowing tens of millions on a subpar player like King and the fact he's done well before and isn't that old gives hope that he could be good for us, why we ended up in this situation when it was obvious in the summer that we needed a striker I don't know but it's better (could turn out to be a lot better) than nothing as I expected coming in to today.

Scored 1 in every 3 games for Watford - will get more chances at United. It’s a loan to see us through until the end of the season.
That said, watch our luck and he brings the Coronavirus here...

We've had all month to get something done, this panic shit is why we end up in a mess so often, the fact we are now loaning a bum from a league that doesn't even rank in the top ten is crazy.

Possible panic loan on deadline for 30 years old player with huge salary who played second divison in China last year. :-)

I think we can stop talking about 3 years plan or any conception. This is just beyond desperate and I cant stop laughing.

As a Striker option? 100% yes. Of course he'd be better then Lingard.

He has literally scored goals in this league before. He also scores regularly f for his country.

Bit of an underwhelming transfer target, but if we can bring him in then together with Bruno we will have had a much better than expected transfer window I reckon, especially if we rewind to just a few days ago.
