You'd be fuming if you were Leganes. La Liga have basically allowed Barcelona to shift their striker issue on to a different club with no penalty

Will Leganes also now be allowed to make an emergency signing?

Weirdest signing ever. It might be by the book according to their legislation, but I feel Leganés was run over by Barsa. Braithwaithe is nothing more than a plaster for them, but for Leganés he's an important player. Mes que un club indeed.

Suarez will be back in April. This is a transfer for only 2 months, doubt he’ll play a single minute after that.

He’s actually been pretty decent though, important player for Leganes that’s scored some big goals.

Unless they have an injury crisis no as won't meet the criteria I assume

Can someone clarify if this was allowed as an exception, or is it some sort of rule in the liga transfer regulations when a player is injured for a whole season?

Free agent at a push fair enough. To actually sign a player from another club when the window is shut. What!?

More likely a rule only allowed for Barca and Real Madrid.

Spanish football is so corrupt towards both clubs.

This rule is mind numbingly ridiculous. Barca lose a player for 5 months so they can get a replacement outside of the transfer window. Leganes lose their attacker which might result in relegation, but they cannot replace him outside of the window. It's the everest of stupidity. Scrap this rule.

I'm sure Barca can set aside some of the half billion they spend on players each year to actually be able to cope with an injury.

It's a travesty what Barca and La Liga did to Leganes.

I'd also place a bit of blame to the guy himself for accepting the Barca contract but I assume he's getting a bigger contract and who can say no to that?
Blame the guy? Jesus christ what's wrong with people. If you spend your whole life playing football, and Barcelona come calling, you accept. It's a dream come true.

If anything is to blame it's the ruleset, not even Barcelona.

There's so many things I find weird and wrong with Spanish football from this silly rule to having reserve teams in the lower divisions to wanting to play matches in the United States.

It´s typical really the big clubs control the leagues, Leganes is in a dog fight for survival but that doesn´t matter Barcelona are fighting at the other end.

When I saw 'former Middlesbrough forward, Braithwaite' in the news, I expected him to be a lad from Boro - not Danish!

Can't blame him for jumping, his only ever opportunity to rub shoulders with Messi and co as a teammates. But the rules are an abomination. A goalkeeper I understand when you apply some context, but surely 2 injured forwards does not warrant a signing from within the same league.

Braithwaite must be pinching himself - imagine going from being mediocre at Middlesborough to decent at Leganes to Barcelona:lol:

The rule is ridiculous, btw. Leganes are fighting relegation and must now accept that an important player gets snapped up by Barca because they have a couple of injuries. And they won't be allowed to bring in a replacement themselves, and even if they were, it'd be near impossible to find even a half decent one.

There is no universe where our scenario with Ighalo can be put into "done very well" category.
Not sure what other short term striker options there were out there? Spurs and Barca obviously struggled. Also not sure how you can come to that conclusion without him even playing.

I think he'll do just fine for the next couple of months.

Can spurs use this as any sort of precedent to sign Puuki for Norwich?

I think he means that Lukaku should have been replaced properly 6 months prior to sign Ighalo, which is correct, if the club weren't so inept then Ighalo would not be playing here.

In a world where United, Tottenham, Chelsea and Barcelona have all suffered long term injuries to their attacks and have all been desperate to strengthen midseason, United have come out with the best loan-striker. That's on top of buying Bruno Fernandes, the best midfielder in Portugal.

Just proves how competent and well-run we are.

Haaland didn't want to come to England, according to his agent.

An agent, I might add, who doesn't exactly have a history of defending United.

That's stupid.

Why La Liga agreed such stupid rules :houllier:.

Don't think this will even help, like Prince-Boateng last year.

Barcelona bit of a disgrace this year, what with all the other crazy things going on.

As a fairly neutral La Liga fan, can only hope they get what they deserve this season, win nothing!

So... what are Leganes supposed to do?
Well the whole emergency buy thing is bollocks and unfair but I guess Leganes will be happy with the business they've done otherwise they would have rejected the offer or demanded more. He probably isn't worth what Barcelona paid for him anyway.

Ed has started a trend.
No, Bartomeu started it. Kevin-Prince Boateng says hi. But this time it was out of the transfer window and the options were very few. Barca wanted Willian Jose, but Sociedad refused to sell. So they paid the release clause ot Brathwaite.

They couldn't reject it, barca activated his release clause.

Say what you will but we've done very well to bring in Ighalo.
I'm currently very humored that he actually rejected a loan to Barcelona, but moves heaven and earth to make one happen to Manchester United.

 forgot about that. Truth be told, we would not have got him over the line with him being on 300k a week in China were it not for him being a United fan.

Well, they have to hope that Guido Carillo starts to deliver. Their chances to stay in La Liga were already slim with Braithwaite, surely didn't improved now. But also it was a very good deal if they are expecting to fight for promotion next season.

I'm actually quite glad we didnt get Haaland, cant stand that agent!

I'm sure we'd be better off right now if we had a more experienced striker purchased in August.

Thing is who is injured? Suarez and Dembele (who is always injured anyway). 2 players? They still have Greizmann and Messi who can both play as forwards.

Didn't they buy Boateng at this point last season for the exact same reason? Why did they get rid of Perez on loan in January? Why did they dispose of Alcacer, Malcolm, Rafinha on loans? I can understand Coutinho if they needed to free up wages but it's still daft.

They are getting leeway for being a poorly run club, which in turn stitches up Leganes. I'd be mad but Braithwaite is not going to make a difference anyway and is just another player they will loan out next season.

What i meant is, issue for majority of complainers have nothing to do with Ighalo directly, nor with his quality. For me at least, you cant say Ighalo situation is well done as transfer, when you knew Lukaku wanted to go since March, then sell him, not get replacement in the summer, then you get extra few months to find some target for January and then at very last day you got Ighalo, we played games in January before that. In my book, thats not club done very good to get Ighalo.
