Had we started Matic, Pogba and Bruno and looked lackadaisical in midfield then there would be merited criticism for that decision, too. He went with energy in midfield to begin with and I still think it was the right call given the three month lay off.

The earlier substitutions criticism is perhaps merited but you can see a real team of players coming together out there. Long way to go, mind.

He deserves criticism for tonight. Poor line up and very slow with the subs. Couldn't believe Bailly was on the bench and Scott was playing centre back for 10 minutes, that was truly mind boggling.

If City remained banned we might qualify by just being fifth.
 
My only complaint with Ole is that he didn't start Pogba, which was probably because he did not want to concede the type of goal that, ironically, we conceded anyways.

With that said, some of the posters here are completely wrong as always. No manager can account for the error DDG made and apart from that, Tottenham didn't really have a sniff the entire match. We actually played some good football (and had Rashford put away his chance it would have been 1-0) before they scored, once they scored they were more even the rest of the half, and then we looked the better side convincingly in the second.

Considering that Jose had months to prepare for this match and to park a bus, it was a decent performance.

My only complain today ? Didn't bring Lingard for Rashford. Didn't bring Pogba at Halftime.

I would still replace him in the summer.
 
The AWB, McTominay, James, right side looked weak pre game. Particularly against a packed defence. Just no creativity or guile. Poor selection from Ole.

Yes, but that is being pretty defensive going for that.
I want us to push for 4th and to do that we needed 3 points today.
Still can do it, but can't afford too many more dropped points.

Hopefully our style suits the cup more. Although I do not trust us on pens anyway.
 
Great subs tonight, couldn’t start pogba cos of fitness, we are in a great position now. Look at Chelsea’s fixtures- Leicester, Man City, Liverpool etc. 1-1 away at spurs you would always take that

The manager has known for a long time that de gea is an issue and a big one at that. He hasn't benched him even with a number of mistakes during his tenure.
 
Come on guys! We really can't be criticizing Ole for this. There is literally no harm in being pragmatic against our toughest remaining opponent.

We can push for 4th easily. For the first game after a long break we put on a very good attacking display and if we copied in the rest of the matches we'll be alright. I'm not Ole's biggest fans and wanted him sacked for the majority of the season but for the moment I'm fine with the team.

I know he deserves criticism for tonight, but wanting another manager after a decent result is mind boggling.

Ffs, just be glad football is back! Those players need to build back their form.
 
He’s too slow with subs, has been since the start. Other then that, well, we missed three really good chances, four if you count the block on Martial from Dier, not much to complain about. Pogba probably should have started.
 
We played better than them and got shafted by a whopping goalkeeping error. Of course it’s all Ole’s fault.
 
I don’t think his counter attacking game plan is going to be very useful for rest of season. Pretty much every game now is going to be teams sat deep letting us pass ball side to side. Has to get his team selctions right, make subs earlier and be more attacking.

I’m right, though. There will be games in which Matic, Pogba and Bruno won’t work and Spurs away is generally right at the top of that list. The Fred-McTominay duo were always going to hit the ground running and I don’t think they did too much wrong.

One of them will move out for Pogba next game and I think this has always been the plan. I said as much last week.

We could be 5 points behind. Got to hope that Chelsea drop far more points than us.
With Pogba we can hopefully break teams down easier, but I expect us to be ups and down with him too.

They had 1 chance other than the goal ( Song's) whereas we had a few misses.. Rashord, Martial.. of course.. Ole's the weak link..
 
oh here we go ole bashing starts again. He brought them on 60 mins, I dont understand whats the issue with that.
10 mins before that, we were dominating them but just couldnt get a goal.

he is a coach, not a sporting director. He should teach them how to play football. Something he lacks obviously because he does not have what is required to manage a club in the size and the prestige of united.

My biggest frustrations with today's match is, why did he repeat the very same mistakes with Bruno we've seen with Pogba countless times (no-one able to create from deep, leaving him isolated) away against a bus parking Jose too? I get the comment about energy but we clearly needed more than that today.

I was expecting to see a fluid midfield, that can't be neutered by man marking one player out of the game (which is what happened). Is that too much to ask for?

I'm disappointed in his decisions today. Difficult circumstances but we really should have gone for it in an important game. Pogba should have started, changes should have been sooner
 
OGS is shit. Didnt have an idea how to beat a parked bus. Jose compacted the midfield but a good manager would have asked the players to attack the wing but instead he just stood there like a lemon.

Indeed. If Ole had started Pogba, he would’ve won a penalty sooner, maybe even before the Spurs goal and we would have scored at least one more.
 
Some people are here just really hate him don't they. It's very bizarre.
 
Would have gone with Pogba and Greenwood from the start or pushed Rashford out right and gone with Ighalo up top. Would have also started with Pogba over McT. My biggest annoyance upon seeing the teamsheet was seeing James start when there were other better options. Personally, I don't rate James but apart from that, it was obvious this wasn't a game where he would be able to use his best assest, his pace.

Apart from that and the Maguire and DDG comedy show, I thought we done ok, all things considered. We were clearly the better team and might have nicked it late on. I think given our run before COVID-19, Ole deserves a reprieve and that's coming from someone who's been highly critical and still very sceptical of him. Since Bruno has come in, we clearly look a-lot better and there's a good sense of team spirit which is something which was horribly absent under Mourinho.

Well i'm pretty sure Matic went to CB which was a good move as his passing helped build a platform to attack.

Never said he should be sacked. I said I thought his decision to put Scott at CB when you have 5 subs and Bailly on the bench was asking for trouble.
 
It's infuriating to see most football fans here can't see the difficulties of playing football back again after 3 months of lay off.

Look at fecking Rashford, he was fecking trash, clearly lethargic, look at fecking AWB, even he looks tired.

There's a reason why the campaign named project "Restart".

I don't think anyone here hates him. Quite the contrary, I think most United fans rightly love the guy. He is, and will remain, a United legend. Some people just also think that, even though they love him, he's not a particularly good football manager.
