Southampton were good. High energy, made the game scrappy, physical, at times to a fault, never backed down. A run of really easy games against compliant opposition might have made Utd a bit complacent.

Pogba had one of those 20 min spells where he plays like a man just waking up and Southampton played on it.

Why? you can’t take opinions? Why go defensive and absorb all the pressure? Introducing James in to no effect . Take off your ole glasses and admit his poor decisions
There's a difference between opinion and dumb lame blame.

James, who has got speed to come on with fresh legs against a tired team? For Greenwood, who was quiet all game bordering on poor. Fecking hell.

Then having TWO fullbacks injuried off??? Last one on the death, 10 man and we concede from a set piece, not even from open play, when the PLAYERS should have been switched on.

Fecking hell, so easy to throw him under the bus for any stupid reason.
There's something you should take off as well but I think it's permanent unfortunately.

fecking Southampton. They play like prime Barcelona in that final 20mins and now the only reason we're not ahead of Leicester is because they got spanked 9-0 by them so we're behind on GD. Game raising cnuts!

The team was tired mentally and some players didnt show up untill the equalizer.
The positive from today is that even if we are not playing well we always have someone in the offensive that is switched on. Today it was rashford and martial.

We need quality replacements. Imagine subbing in sancho today instead of greenwood or a greenwood type 10.

This might sound dumb but the team deserves credit for first half. Second half it was lucky we just got 2-2. However in the end we are still in the race and got leicester in the last game.

We need to rotate either pogba or Bruno for palace to let them rest. Preferably bruno and let pogba play nr 10 role with mct and fred behind him. Let ighalo come in earlier aswell.

I missed him today in the second half. I missed his target ability when martial was tired.

Onwards to palace and hopefully pogba has a point to prove.

People who says chill down need to realise its 3.. Only 3 fecking games left! Do you think we have the whole season to close the gap? N O !!!!!

Its 3 fecking games. This was our chance. FECK!!!!
Just FYI - the gap is closed and we play Leicester last game of the season. It's not all that bad.

We missed an opportunity today, but this is far from over

Ridiculously tough game. Their intensity was just ludicrous.

Sometimes she goes, sometimes she doesn't go.

She didn't go.
Yeah honestly have they just been cruising the last few games? They looked fresh as daisies.

Mate that was Matic's fault any way you look at it. Very harsh penalty too.

We could go on and on about who is the better partner for Maguire, but at the end of the day we can get someone better than both.
Matić did not throw his arm up to control a ball in the penalty box with nobody around him. A shit pass should not prompt that stupidity.

Expecting apology and "not good enough" posts by the players on social media tonight, only for us to play equally shit on Friday

We are still better off than we thought we would be before this round of games.

Sickening to drop points in the last minute. Definite signs of fatigue with some players.

Four great wins in a row playing very good football and the post match threads creep to 7 or 8 pages after a few days.

We drop points and its at 10 pages after 15 minutes. Why don't you people feel the need to comment and praise the team when we play well? Why are you so quick to vent your anger as soon as you get the opportunity?

Its pathetic really. To those of you that posted in here tonight but couldn't be arsed after the good wins - shame on you
This. Armchair keyboard fecking warrior managers.
Pisses me off so much.

I think it's more a case that there's much more to discuss when we don't win, to be fair.
Exactly. Joy and happiness are great but they're not great conversation subjects overall. Imagine a book where there is no conflict, nothing bad ever happens to the protagonists - it'd be boring as feck.

We have just closed the gap

If we win 3 games we get top 4

Relax.
I need a whiskey and Xanax to relax from this horrible night of football. We’ve been here before so many times this season. Its just deja vu all over it unfortunaly.

It was a fair result though. We got what we deserved.

Incredible. Southampton should’ve had three red cards and we’re ending up with playing 10 vs 11. Dirtiest team I’ve seen in a while and also the worst ref/VAR performance I’ve seen since its inception. Also pathetic how we parked the bus almost the entire second half. Spineless.

We weren’t firing tonight but still had tons of chances. Martial should have scored early on, Rashford should have scored and also had a goal disallowed. It’s frustrating but it’s not dour, Southampton are a good side. I think we’re looking tired though, which is the biggest concern.

Bad tactics lost us the game. You can't bring on Fred when you're against strong players. You need grit not a blue-arsed fly running all over the place acheiving nothing. MacTominay should have replaced Pogba if anyone.
We were tactically poor first quarter when we persisted playing from the back when Southampton were pressing high. We eventually worked out that a longer ball takes many of those pressing players out the game. But we lose a goal before working that out.

Collapsed under pressure again. It is so disappointing and infuriating at the same time.

Gave away a soft goal again, then we overtook them but we failed to finish it off despite having some really good chances to do so and near the end we couldn't keep the ball in our ranks and the Soton goal was just nailed on to happen. Really annoying because you can just see it coming from miles off.

Hope this doesn't knock down our confidence and current momentum, we really need to just pick up and win our next 3 games but I can't help but feel we might have let it slip today...

Not one of our best games but could argue we were due one as we've been excellent. Still in our hands though. COME ON YOU REDS

When was the last time we conceded a goal where you think - yeah, not much we could have done there?

They all seem to be huge feck ups
The vast majority do, which means that it's down to lapses in concentration. Unfortunately, that's why top quality defenders are like gold dust. You can forgive the odd rare mistake here and there, but the top tier players do this less and less.

Imo, all four of our defensive positions are up for grabs. I'm content with our attacking players for next season. Mason, Martial and Marcus up front for next season? Yes please. Happy with Bruno and Pogba in midfield, with either Matic or his long term replacement. Aside from that, I'm more than happy for us to go out and bring in better defensive players than the ones that we have.

It's a set piece, so I know that sometimes all sorts of strange things can happen. But...at that point in the match where we've done all the hard work up until then. You just want a bit of organisation at the back and somebody to take charge there. Clear the ball, and take the three points.

They've been building up for their cup final mate. Happy to get spanked by Leicester 9-0.

They're 4th in the away league table. They were 5th in the form table prior to this game and played absolutely out of their skin.

It happens.

Tough one tonight, real pain in the arse conceding so late on. But its far from over, the other two will drop points and we just have to make sure we kick on and don't let this one effect us too much.

I've been saying for a long time that I'm worried we might be massive bottlers. Last season we had no chance of top 4, demolished teams, top 4 became realistic and then we collapse. This season, whenever Chelsea played before us and lost/drew we then dropped points almost everytime (maybe even everytime). And look now, same again. If we play before Chelsea (and now Leicester) we demolish teams, top 4 is back on, we play second knowing we can close gap and we draw. Bottlers.

Massively annoyed. Completely lost it 70 minutes in, lucky to get a draw the way they were sitting so deep.

True enough man. Was thinking whiskey myself. Still the best spell we have had in seven years and by a long way

Don't forget Chelsea still has games against Wolves and Liverpoo left.
out of interest when do Chelsea and Liverpool play each other, gotta hope the 100 points is still on for Liverpool when they meet, otherwise they’ll lose that game intentionally by playing a baby team

It is not really. We now need to defeat Leicester on the final match. So we are in the same position as we were 2 matches ago.

Lost two points at the end, but 18 matches unbeaten and still gaining ground. There will be CL. And hopefully a couple of improvements to the squad. I don't think we lost the points at the end though. should have been better in the beginning and scored one more to kill the game before the subs.

Should have put away our chances and it would be safe. Martial should have squared to Greenwood in the second half and Rashford should have put his chance away.

I just knew once we went down to ten men that they would score. Ole should not have taken Bruno off either.

That's De Gea in a nutshell when it comes to corners. I don't think I've ever not been nervous when we've conceded a corner with him in goal. He just isn't demanding at all.
I'm watching the UnitedStand right now and Mark Goldbridge is talking about how Pallister and Bruce would have been all over that and Maguire should have been all over it. No they wouldn't, because Schmeichel would have plowed through everyone and punched it away...

How does this absolve Lindelof. Don't give up goal side, basic defending. He was weak. If it was someone like Vidic, he would fought to be in right position.
Bullshit.
