No pre season for us at all then. I fear we are going to burn out here.

Why on earth do they still have bloody nations league!

Wasn't there some suggestion that they will extend United, City and Wolves fixture if they go far in Europe?

If we won't spend big on new players and start next season with similar squad depth to what we have right now then I'm definitely not looking forward to it

Why do I feel like we'll struggle with this disproportionately badly compared to everyone else

not going to be a pretty season. I wish they'd at least scrap the Caribou Cup for one season, schedule is going to be ridiculously tight as it is. Not going to happen of course.

I feel League Cup should be scrapped for this season. Season will be cramped up anyway because it is starting late. Plus Euros next summer

That's pretty frustrating. You'd imagine we'll start the season strong and then burn out rather quickly. Our squad is paper-thin as it is. This could honestly be a huge problem for us.

Clubs in lower leagues who are struggling more than ever right now could really do with the Caribou though. Feel like it'd be abandoning them a bit to scrap it.

Unless we buy half a dozen players before the transfer window closes its hard to see how we can sustain a title challenge. There's even a chance we will burn out before Christmas if, as we would like, we go all the way in the Europa League.

It'd be nice to scrap it for any team playing in Europe.

Jesus this will be a mess, three week break between league seasons!

If we secure Champions League qualification how would folks feel if we threw the next round of games in the Europa League? Players could then maybe have a 2 week break and report back for preseason on the 24th??

Best thing to do if we qualify for the champions league on Sunday, is to just play squad players in the Europa, and let the majority of players have a break.

We'll need to ditch the domestic cup competitions and if applicable, Europa as well, for next season. Liverpool don't have a deep squad and end up doing this every year. It looks pathetic losing early on, but for us, reaching the semi final is a good confidence booster but ultimately led to extra games played without any reward. Let's hedge our bets rather than going for everything and getting nothing. Our squad wouldn't be big enough.

We are going to have a 3 week break if we reach the Europa League final? That’s rough.

Our last chance of stopping our longest trophy drought since 1990. No.

Who gives a toss. I could understand it if we hadnt won it before, or if we needed to win to secure Champions league football as we did in 2017, but if we have that sewn up, I highly doubt we will take it so seriously. Plus cancel the fecking International games,

I have a feeling this is the aim, if we get the cl through the league we'll play a reserve squad in the EL and give the big names a rest.

I want to win the Europa League.

We usually fly off to somewhere around the world for a stupid exhibition tournament anyway. At least the Europa League actually means something.

with a 5-0 advantage from the 1st game against LASK, pretty sure it will be the fringe players that feature in the 2nd leg

What is the point if we aren’t trying to win trophies? “Who gives a toss” sorry what’s the point then? I’m confused. We’ve got 3 games to win a European trophy.

Has to be done, too risky to start it any later really. This isn't breaking news to clubs either so no excuses.

Yes, this is what will stop United from a title challenge....

Ridiculous. The Europa League is not just a qualification route to the Champions League. I despise when people talk about it as such, sums up so much that is wrong with modern football and modern "fans".

Some sense!

We certainly didnt look like we were trying to win a trophy last Sunday that's for sure. The priority for the club is securing champions league football this season. Anything else is a bonus. However as we are in an unprecedented situation with the next season starting so quickly, I am sure the club will have to make some sacrifices.

Yeah but the man was talking about sacking off the whole competition, not just playing a Norwich FA Cup tie style team in the second leg against LASK.

No way should we turn our noses up at the Europa League. Qualifying for the Champions League on Sunday and winning a European competition would constitute a decent season. We have not won anything for a few years now and we do not want that to become a habit.

Once a squad gets out of the habit of winning trophies its very, very hard to rebuild it.

Ole getting a pot as our manager will be an important milestone as well, in terms of convincing the players we've got and the players we want to buy that he is a manager who can deliver them medals.
