Hard to think of another player who flopped as badly while costing us so much. I'm sure some will mention Veron but he did have some good games in the CL at least, whereas I can't think of a single good game Sanchez had.
Two assists in the 3-2 comeback win vs City at the etihad.Hard to think of another player who flopped as badly while costing us so much. I'm sure some will mention Veron but he did have some good games in the CL at least, whereas I can't think of a single good game Sanchez had.
The peak goes quickly away. Rooney was great as well 2011, 2 or 3 years later he was almost useless.Sad really because a season or two beforehand he was as close to being the best player in the league.
He did cost a fee though. If he'd cost a transfer fee there would be no contest. His wages make him right up there though.
That isn't true at all . Rooney scored around 50 goals in those 3 seasons after 2011The peak goes quickly away. Rooney was great as well 2011, 2 or 3 years later he was almost useless.
Harsh considering he only cost around £6million. Seeing an all time midfield great in a United shirt for that price was wholesome enough to excuse his forgettable time here.I’d probably put it as:
1. Sánchez
2. Di Maria (although much of this fee was recouped)
3. Schweinsteiger
Honourable mentions to Depay, Falcao, Veron.
I forgot Falcao played for us to be honest. Schneiderlin and Bailly are up there for me, might not be as high expectations but they weren't cheap either. It wasn't a permanent transfer but I was more disappointed by Falcao at the time. He offered nothing.
He did, which is why this is a free transfer.I would consider Di Maria to be worse. I don't really despise or dislike Sanchez at all. He always gave his best and I'll always have that feeling that he could've been given more chances through the middle. However, we bought a declining superstar on mega wages and played him out of position. We only have ourselves to blame for this saga. He could've done a Bale and sat out his contract or made us pay him a golden handshake to leave the club. But he chose to prove himself at Inter and has done well for himself.
I wish him all the best. Honestly can't say the same for many ex-players of ours.
Sanchez scored plenty fo goals a couple of seasons after as well. It wasn't meant as he was useless immediately a year after, but Rooney in 2014 wasn't half as good as in 2011.That isn't true at all . Rooney scored around 50 goals in those 3 seasons after 2011
We swapped him for Mkhitaryan. He did cost a fee though.
Nope. This is a free transfer because we want his wages off our books. He's earning less at Inter. There have been instances where the selling club also had to make up for the salary differential for the remaining part of the contract. Don't think that's the case with us.He did, which is why this is a free transfer.
Certainly wouldn’t put Schweinsteiger in there. I could name 10 worse transfers that that. Bloody hell, let’s find 10!Harsh considering he only cost around £6million. Seeing an all time midfield great in a United shirt for that price was wholesome enough to excuse his forgettable time here.
No we didn’t. That’s nonsense. Why would we do that? It would make no sense at all.Did we pay rest of his contract money for next 2 years ?
Huh? Why do people suddenly think we paid his 50 mil or so in wages? We would be better off loaning him if that was the case?He did, which is why this is a free transfer.

Woodward wanted 20m for him in July, then 15, now he is leaving for free.Nope. This is a free transfer because we want his wages off our books. He's earning less at Inter. If his wages weren't a problem, then there is no way we would be selling him for free. Case in point is Fellaini.
