So, after failing to sign Sancho by Dortmund deadline, it looks like the deal is dead on the water, who should we now go for instead?
We surely need another RWF, be it a quality backup or squad rotation or even first team starter, we definitely lack natural right winger in our squad.

Dembele - Cost Barca 145m 3 years ago. No idea how much he would cost in todays market. But he is very talented and only 23, sure still have chance to shine in future?
Coman - He was injury-prone, but he is very talented too. If we bid 50-60m, may have a chance to get him from Bayern?
Douglas - He is actually a very good dribbler and can cross the ball well too. Will be a good backup or squad rotation with Greenwood for next few years. I don't think he will cost us much because of his age, maybe 25-30m will do? But I can see him asking for 200k+ salary or something.
Willians - Why not? He will be free and has tons of Premierleague experience, he can be a stop gap signing for us next season, until we try our luck again on Sancho next summer.
Grealish - One of the impressive attacking midfielder in the league this season. Not sure if he can play right winger role at all, but he can be good backup/squad rotation for AM and LW role, and we need squad depth and quality from bench. But he is valued at 80m, which is insane.

Dembele on loan for me, if Barca allow it. Give him a year to see if he can get back on track, regarding injuries etc. If he can, we potentially have a player as good as Sancho for cheaper. Otherwise, go into the season with Greenwood, invest in the other areas which are required and then reassess next summer, might be a new hot name on the market

Under a tree.
Easy, David Brooks, left footed right winger, can also play as a AM so can take up Lingard and Mata's position in the squad if Sancho is eventually signed.

A couple of curveballs

Sarr : first season in the EPL and looked okay still very raw. He is rapid and his movement isn't too bad - does keep the width.

Ousmane Dembele: if we can get him on loan with a set fee to buy, it would allow use the money to spend on upgrades for other positions. He turned 23 in May, I remember the goal he scored against us in a friendly and remember the game he was dangerous throughout, has a strong left foot.

Also barca has been a bit toxic for a couple of years now, I wonder if and move to a new team with a young squad would help him, just look at Martial he seems to be smiling at the moment.

Nkunku: 1.05 goal-creating actions also rank second, behind Sancho in the same League. Also looks a bit raw but 23 in November and has lots of talent.

Emmanuel Bonaventure: again another player that when was on the patch last year?! Vs Utd was dangerous coming in from the right side, he is more a forward but took up the right wing vs us

I think Traoré would be a more interesting alternative than loaning someone like Coman or Dembele, for whom United would be a step down.

What happened to the Chiesa talk?

I really hope we don't go down the Dembele route. He'd be very expensive and basically still a massive question mark at 23, both in terms of whether he's ever actually going to be any good and if he will ever really be able to stay fit. We don't want to just buy talent, we have Greenwood for that. We need to buy proven quality. That's why we were chasing Sancho.

Get Josh King in now instead of January.
He is a forward who can play across the line and is Premier League proven.

We are not a step down anymore pal, we are two/three players away from having very young talented squad.

I'm actually excited by this team and the potential it has.

He'll be 29 in January, 6 goals and 4 assets in 26 games.

Dan James has 3 goals and 6 assets in 33 games.

One of these is a championship player

We just signed Sané for a lack of winger options, so Coman isn't going anywhere without proper replacement. And as your own transfer endeavours show, the market isn't exactly full of quality wingers available for reasonable transfer fees.

Have to admit I wasn’t sold on Traore initially but he seems to be going strength to strength.

Mata's contract runs until June 2021, with the option of a further year.

So I presume our plan now will be to use that option of the further year.

Kai Havertz the kid is too good to pass up on we can’t let Chelsea get a free run at him. With the money left maybe Sarr..

I don't think there are many players other than the likes of Sancho that should be putting Greenwood out of the team. So I don't think Willian would be too bad if it were with the understanding that he'd be mainly a squad player.

In what basis would Barca want a simple loan deal for dembele? Add into it that he hasn’t played, has terrible work ethic and if he can’t make the effort for his dream move what will he do here? Our reputation with young injured players has never been great either!!

Buy a left-footed left-back who can cover/replace Shaw and give Rashford overlapping support; so making Rashford more dangerous again. Move Williams to the right. Sell Dalot and TFM.

If we don't get Sancho i'd try and get Bale on loan for 2 seasons with Madrid paying half of his wages. Then we can upgrade another 1 or 2 positions too.

Bale on loan plus 2 more good players to improve the team and squad or just Sancho? Which makes us stronger?

We're a step down from Bayern or Barca, of course we are. Maybe not qualify wise in terms of Barcelona right now, but Dembele would have been way more excited about joining Barcelona than he would be about joining United this summer. We wouldn't be in the conversation if he had been a success.

The reality is that Sancho would have been fantastic in Summer 2019 but in Summer 2020 he is simply not necessary and actually could prove disruptive. Greenwood will develop into a great player. You cannot rotate 4 alpha players into 3 places - because someone will not play the big games - this creates disharmony.

So if the Sancho deal is actually dead then the footballing gods are smiling on Ole (and Mason). Plan B is actually what should’ve been Plan A. We know the First XI and the only spots genuinely up for grabs are Matic and then Lindelof. That’s where you focus your energy on a world class recruit. After that its a little bargain hunting.

Bale is finished, Dembele is a crock on shit attitude, Coman is injury prone, Willian wants a 3 year contract which is silly and Douglas is on the wane.

We should go for younger players whose got great potential. My favourites would be

Zaniolo. He's the most exciting young talent in Italy and can play as RW, MC and no 10. A 40m + Smalling could do the trick
Chiesa. He's got quick feet and great dribbling skills. He can also play as LW, RW and STK. 60M would do the trick

Strengthen another position and wait one more year.

Dembele's injury record makes him a big no he'd cost a lot and be on big wages, Barca would never agree to a loan offer when they've hardly got any wide players at their club right now.

The other options just feel underwhelming. Might as well buy top quality elsewhere, Sancho isn't going anywhere and there will always be next year to bring him to Old Trafford.

100% sancho. It’s 100% time to start adding top notch players in positions they are supposed to play in.
