Honestly think we would be perfect for him. Young, energetic side who has legs and can run for him.

He'll be 34 next year. If the financial times in world football have changed for the better it would be an absolute blockbuster signing for anyone that takes him.

But the question is, would it be worth it? The risk of falling in the same trap that Juventus did with Ronaldo is big. He'll want massive wages and demands a fully functioning side around him for a deal to be worth it.

How many teams can offer that?

Don't think Inter will ever be a viable option, I can only see Manchester City taking him.

I don't think it would be a bad move in the long run by Barcelona to cut the cord. They've thrown the wallet at so many short term options to try to play to Messi's strengths while racking up the wage bill.

They could and maybe should start thinking about starting fresh.

Hypothetically, a summer with only Messi and Sancho would still be good enough for us.
We need quality signings, not quantity just for the sake of quantity.

No one to blame but themselves Barca, they allowed themselves to fall into ‘Galactico’ territory instead of sticking to their philosophy of bringing players through ‘La Masia’ and now they’re bang in trouble because of it.

They’ve let so many talented youngsters go so they could buy flavour of the month players that they’ve got a ridiculously bloated and unbalanced squad and even more bloated and unbalanced wage bill, chopping and changing managers constantly hasn’t helped either.

My mate is a die hard Barca fan and has been for 30 years and I’ve never seen him as angry as he was this morning about Barca but he said it was always going to happen once they played a quality team, he was livid about Coutinho even being allowed to have played last night.

Outside of Ter Stegen, De Jong and Messi no one in their squad could be classed among the best in their position in world football and a lot of the squad is far closer to the end of their career than being around for a rebuild paying off.

I don’t see Messi leaving as he’s on something crazy like £1 million a week isn’t he ? They literally need a fire sale of players like Griezmann, Coutinho, Rakitic, Umtiti, Vidal, Lenglet, Dembele, Braithwaite, Rafinha, Arda and Firmo and to bring through as many of the talented group of youngsters they have and use next season as a transitional year.

Messi wants to leave Barcelona. Not in 2021. Now.

I genuinely would be as happy as ever seeing Messi playing for us.
Can't see us getting him however.

The only club that both messi and C Ronaldo played at?

If he can leave for free, I wouldn’t mind spending 100m in wages on him for the next 2 seasons. He is still the best.

If Messi goes, surely the only 2 clubs in Europe who could afford him are City and PSG?

Too early to go back home.
United would defo be interested, don't worry about the wages the commercial revenue he would create would cover his wages.

I also think he has the standing in football where others accept he's on more money for a reason, he's the best.

They have being doing that since the early 90's since the 3 man foreign rule was scraped by Uefa, from the Koeman bros to Laudrup right up till today, sure some came from La masia but not on the scale you're post would (make someone only new to them) suggest.

I dunno... if he's on a free transfer then I wouldn't be surprised if the extra commercial revenue he could generate for a club... not shirt sales that are minimal but more games on TV... increased sponsorship... new commercial partners for training kits etc ... all that put together would probably go a long way to paying for his wages and of not cover them in full at least make him not much more expensive than other top players would be

Does feel like this is the season he goes tbh.

Has that sort of feeling around when Ronaldo wanted to leave Real.

Much like when Juve were the surprise club to take Ronaldo, I think Inter will be the ones to get Messi.

Dont think Messi will hit the same numbers in the PL, even if he joins the high scoring City side. Why bother playing physically tougher football week in week out when you can play at PSG and win just as much if not more.
A City side with Messi in it will probably destroy every team. Would really be something.
I dont think he'll leave though, kicking up a fuss to shock the management into sorting the team out.

If there is a chance to sign him you sign him.

Experience world class talent and feck me I’d love to see him live at Old Trafford week in week out coming on for Greenwood.

He's not signing for another club with the intention of replacing 19 year olds from the bench unfortunately.

Would only take him on a free transfer considering his wages.

Sancho should still be the priority.

I've always thought of him playing for Inter at some point. Can't see how they afford it, especially after taking on Sanchez's wages even though they probably aren't paying him as much as we did.

Realistically it's City or PSG isn't it. Maybe Di Maria goes to Barca?
