Theres enough Irish on the caf here I'm surprised a thread doesn't already exist about this. It is the greatest league in the world after all.

To kick things off though, why on earth is Dundalk appointing a summer camp organiser as manager?

Great to see someone started the thread as i couldn't due to being a newbie. There is massive unrest behind the scenes at Dundalk and this will all end in tears I'm told. Onto brighter things in the league 3 massive european fixtures over the next couple of days for ourselves Rovers and Derry, hopefully we can all progress and bring some much needed positivity back to the league. I don't know if anyone else has used the LOI watchalong but my experience is that it's been absolutely top notch and i've gotten to see nearly every LOI fixture live which is completely unheard of. I would be surprised if this doesn't become the norm in the future and in the premier league aswell! Only 9 more sleeps until the biggest fixture of the LOI calendar and one which could potentially decide where the title goes, i keep pinching myself thinking I must be dreaming but my god what a job Keith Long has done.

I have a lot of friends who are from Cork and love their football team. Can anyone in here tell me what Cork’s expectations are for the coming season? Are they headed in the right direction? Can’t believe there was a time they were in CL!

They are most certainly headed in the wrong direction and i think they'll be in a relegation fight this season. They have very limited options and were recently beaten by an ordinary enough munster senior league team ( amateur league in which i play in the leinster equivalent so feel i can comment on it being average haha ). Unfortunately for them the glory years of John Caufield are gone and they like many other LOI clubs suffered with losing their best players to England such as Seanie Maguire or Kevin O'Connor aswell as other important players leaving due to being over the hill age wise like Karl Sheppard.

Dundalk were the Champions League team, Shamrock Rovers were the Europa League team in 2011.

A lot of clubs will be in massive trouble over the COVID-19 societal lockdowns, many of them let their staff all go in March/April as they couldn't afford to run (most (all?) clubs only semiprofessional).

Cork City have been quite poor for a year or two, they have put together a decent run post-lockdown I think (they were last in the table at one point).

Will be battling to avoid relegation this season, like many LOI teams they have run afoul of money issues recently. I was at their game vs Dundalk in Oriel Park in Feburary and Dundalk put them to the sword. Finished 4-0 and they barely set foot outside their half for large periods of the game.

Bohemians could apparently receive over 1 million pounds from the Matt Doherty transfer to Spurs due to a 10% sell-on clause. Massive financial boost for an LOI club

Results are one thing but jesus the standard of football they’re throwing up is awful. Strange line ups and poor play. I was hoping things would get better when Harry Kenny resigned.
I feel your pain . I support Bray , the ultimate Yoyo club. and everytime we have a couple of decent players they move .

Absolutely heart breaking last night! There's a very special feeling with this bohs side a real connection between the team, Keith Long, the supporters and everyone involved with the club. As much as it pains me to say it fair play to Rovers last night and to the fans who managed to get a sneak peak at the match haha. Not the most exciting fixtures for the Fai cup this weekend unfortunately, ill probably watch galway shels and that'll be me until Bohs Cabo on monday evening which i think will be a potential banana skin for us as i see Keith Long making wholesale changes. I'm just hoping Danny Mandriou makes his mark on his return to the XI

Bohs are my local club and I spent my youth bunking into Dalyer. Its good to see there is a little resurgence of sorts and a nice few quid coming in too from Wolves.

Great result for Rovers. Bastards. :keano::wenger::wenger:

Agreed on the southsiders.

The Doherty money is huge for Bohs. They were unlucky last night but a very good, young team. If the squad stays together they will go onto further success. Twardek, Grant, Buckley have been great since the restart. Not sure what the story with Mandriou is at the moment but he's the best young player in the country.

I live precisely a 90 second walk from Dalymount. Interesting re the 1.6m fee from Doherty transfer. Hopefully the stadium renovation can now go ahead, it's a dump, let's be honest.

But in Scotland. To be fair they are largely considered a team playing in a foreign league.

Yeah just seen that and was searching for AC Milan thread on here. Real shame it will be BCD so people in Dublin can't go and watch it and see likes of Zlatan live.

I reckon volunteers for stewarding won’t be a problem for the Rovers v Milan game , it’s such a shame it’s BCD

No they have a strong Irish fan base and have shamrock as part of their crest so I assumed they originated in Ireland, why is that so shocking?
Cant believe in this day and age there's someone who is a football fan and doesn't know that. Sorry, it was stronger than me.
