This place is very amusing really. Do people actually think Woodward will sign an injury prone 30 year old footballer at 30 million? I am not his biggest fan but his modus operandi is to invest in young footballers with a resale value. Why would he spend 30 million on a 30 year old crock,
Did you put any research into this at all?

Firstly, he's 29.
Secondly, he played 40 games last season, 42 the one before, and over 40 4 times in 5 seasons.
Even the lowest appearance year was 32!

Where does this injury prone business come from!?

Why would he spend 30 million on a 30 year old crock, and fail to top up 70 million on that to buy a talented 20 year old footballer. Sometimes I just feel like people just like putting themselves through unnecessary heartache. Bayern using Uniteds name to hurry up Liverpool, classic transfer move. We do that all the time. Thiago is Liverpool bound. Klopp doesn't rate him at 30 million but in the end he will be a Liverpool player. What value would Thiago add to Manchester United today? He rejected United 5 years ago and that was the end of it. There is more chance of us signing Messi than Thiago because I can see the value that Messi would bring to Manchester United that Woodward can not resist. Good player Thiago but with VDB signed i wonder where he would fit in the team
Ed 'resale value' Woodward

If we get Thiago. I’d shift McTominay too.
For sure. We will have the following options if it happens:

AM: Bruno / VDB / Pogba / Mejbri
CM: Pogba / VDB / Tiago / Fred / Mejbri
DM: Tiago / Matic / Fred

Neither room nor need for McTominay

I don't want to spoil the party. Never say never in football, Thiago could actually sign for United. Football is a funny business. When Fergie signed Van Persie I could not believe it. So there is hope for Thiago. Personally am happy with VDB signing am actually ecstatic about it. I also 100 per cent believe that Sancho will be signed. Is he not training with England in England? Thats very convenient for Woodward and Judge.

Yeah he can go unless he wants to be a centre back.

spoken like somebody who truly doesn't have a clue. You could have replaced your whole paragraph with 'I have never watched Thiago play in my life' and be done with it. Let me sum it up quite simply, he's in the top 3 best midfielders in the world - better than Pogba and Bruno, and he isn't a player who will decline as he doesn't rely on his speed or physique to make the game look easy.

Not a chance United are signing him. Look at our options in midfield. It would make no logical sense to buy another midfielder with the numbers we have. Backup striker and RW required.

Would be a quality addition if true

this season of all seasons where we will basically play 3 games a week for the year we can accommodate players

lots of rotation ahead and if we are to do well in the endurance race it will be down to quantity as well as quality

I'm a bit dubious though

No need to argue about football opinions. I can tell you right now, that I would take Pogba over Thiago any day. I would also take Kevin De Bruyne over Thiago any day. That doesn't mean I don't know anything about football. It's just my opinion. Let's hope Thiago signs for United and makes you happy. As for me am happy with Van Beek and I hope Sancho signs for us. That is my opinion as well. I wouldn't cry if Thiago joins Klopp. He doesn't excite me. That is my opinion as well.

Thiago is 29. Scholes played till he was 36. This would be fantastic signing if we can pull it off

Fred could be going out on loan, so its a real possibility we could get him.

Fred going on loan.
McTominay a squad player.
Matic can only play a limited run of games.
Bruno never going to play a deep role.
Pogba's injury record isn't great.

So bringing in another midfielder, as well as VDB, would be sensible.

Also with the limited Champions League experience in our squad, I'd leap at having Thiago at the club.

Yep.
Quality work from Moyesie.
He relied on the info that Giggs didn't fancy him. I remember it to be the deciding factor in that matter. As Moyes would prefer a longer period of observation before making his mind up.

I never got why Everton fans called him 'Dithering Dave' until that moment. an absolute charlatan of a manger.

Lots of tweets going around that our interest is serious and our bid will get accepted. It's up to Thiago apparently.

Come on Ole - sell him the rosy picture. His experience and in game intelligence will take us to the next level. Perhaps the best midfield in the league.

Combine that with a settled front 3 - we will be very exciting to watch. If we can get Sancho as well - then, it's time for giddiness. Too many ifs though (sigh)

I mean how on Earth will we fit all these midfielders? Unless we’re selling Pogba?

He’s class but I just can’t see this happening

Isn't he the same player Moyes refused to sign a few years back?
Funny how different everyone's memories are of this transfer saga. I guess we'll never know the truth, but I followed the saga a few years back very closely. What I remember is that we were about to get him but Giggs torpedoed the move because he told Moyes he 'wasn't a United player' in a meeting about transfers.

After we stalled on the move then, Pep moved for him at Bayern a few weeks later.

Of course I could be wrong.

Pogba might command too much in his wages moving forward. He has a year contract extension coming up, which if activated makes him a United player through June 2022.

The club saw how they can play without Pogba for an extended period of time last year. Pogba is replaceable, believe it or not.

I’d be amazed if Fred is leaving as I think he’s set to be first choice with Pogba next season but it’s odd we haven’t shut this rumour down.
It's not in the clubs interest to shut any rumours down

7 into 3 certainly doesn't work though so you would imagine one of Fred or McTominay would have to make way for Thiago and no doubt the academy graduate aspect would mean McTominay would be the one the club would least like to let go, Matic just only just signed a new deal is as the one most akin to being a DM so that leaves Fred rightly or wrongly

There’s this one, don’t know how legit though..

Faker than Pamela Anderson's tits. I'm sure he was called Hernández or something a few years ago and was using a stolen pic of a guy in a suit not showing his face.
