Sky must really want this to happen, they're basically keeping the story alive by themselves.
Either that or the club genuinely believe that a deal is still possible. We would've known by now if they had moved on or were out if they didn't think it was.

Took them all of 12 hours since the Messi exit news broke for them to nip that in the bud , they keep allowing this one to linger though for whatever reason

Cash reserves were used to cover the 20m rebate I think which we’ve now covered in the loan hence why our net debt went up so much. So we may have 110m available now in theory. Plus that 140m COVID loss loan is very much worst case scenario. You’re right though, it’s very difficult to cover that 100m up front payment and bring in others without selling. It’s logical we’ve decided Sancho isn’t going anywhere except to us this window so that can wait for outgoings whilst our other targets are wanted by other clubs hence why we had to move on VDB first whilst Sancho can wait until we sell the 7/8 players we need to have the necessary cash flow. Plus I’m certain Dortmund will eventually accept instalments once Sancho pushes for a move toward the end of the window. It’s poker basically.
Some great analysis. One thing you’re perhaps missing is we still also have to pay delayed payments for several previous transfers, plus various add ins as and when they accrue. I’m not sure what the size of your those payments are, but it’s not insignificant

Arturo Vidal on 647 pages. This'll easily top that if nothing happens.
I was also wondering that.

I went all in on Hazard and felt pissed for ages after that. Never been the same since
How many pages was Hazard?

Or maybe the saga hasn’t finished yet and the deal is very much alive.

Maybe it is, I'm just surprised how completely tight-lipped we've been about it, most of the information seems to be coming from the German-Norweigan chuckle brothers.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

Yeah that’s correct. At the end of the 18/19 season our net remaining transfer expendables stood at around 160m. No figures for this year yet however, since then our cashflow has gone from 310m to 90m. 80m of that will have been from Maguire up front and possibly 30m covering Corona but that still leaves 110m possibly paying that down. That leaves 50m outstanding and not including Maguire last year’s net spend was around 0 so it won’t have increased by much. Plus obviously the 140m loan is additional cashflow and amortises worst case scenario COVID losses so provided by next season at the latest crowds are back in the stadium our cashflow should remain what it was going to be minus whatever rate we’ve agreed to pay the loan back at. I’d guess considering they’re giving credit out like candy these days it’ll be quite a good deal

On the Glazers I’m not their biggest fan and the leverage takeover put this club at huge risk. We were exceptionally lucky how successful we were during that time and how commercial revenues and tv deals exploded. It’s genuinely a disgrace how they lumbered 700m debt onto us. However, I do think they want to get us back to winning again. The outlay over the last 7 years shows that. You don’t spend 80m up front on Maguire if you’re just in it to leech money off the club by finishing 4th every year. With Messi going next door I really don’t see us not signing Sancho. For the brand of “biggest adult Disneyland around” alone if we don’t get our number one target who is an exceptionally talented marketable young Englishman because we couldn’t afford it whilst our rivals sign Messi just isn’t a good look.

James Cooper (Utds mouthpiece) saying the fee with Dortmund doesn’t seem like it’ll be a problem. It’s the fee with the agent that’s the issue. But says we’re still desperate to have him before the end of the window.

Do you reckon we will get that sorted in the end, certainly sounds to me like Utd are keen to overcome the problem

I can believe this tbh, as long as Dortmund get the fee they want (and not through addons) I'm sure in a post COVID environment they can't expect it all up front, wages I can't imagine will be a problem so logically it shouldn't surprise if it is agents causing the issue

One thing that is common which James Cooper has mentioned before is, when Utd really want someone, they generally get their man.

I would say Sancho is someone they have wanted more than anyone since Fergie left. More than Pogba I would say.

I’m certainly not buying the notion this deal is dead.

What is the agents fee? Do we know what he’s demanding?

This will be done one way or another. It’s no different to the Pogba or Maguire sagas.

It’s anyone’s guess right now but there were reports he wanted £50m!! He has history of being greedy. Someone posted details on him in this thread.
Who is this agent? At the start of this saga I hoped as there's no Raiola involved this would be smooth sailing

Now we have financial details of the VdB signing, in your opinion, how much can we afford upfront for Sancho, including wages?

I’ve got absolutely no doubt it will be done. Always felt that from the beginning. Utd will push it as far as they can and bite the bullet in the end.

Regardless of the undertakers in here insisting it’s dead.

I remember you were at the very front of the vanguard during the Vidal saga. It didn't end well.

I agree. If you’re going to pull the plug then it would have been done by now

Not even fat boy Mino would ask for that kind of money.....can’t believe that anyone would ask for £50m - trouble is though, agents are aware that Ed got well fleeced by Mino in the Pogba deal.....he got a lot of stick for that so there is no way he’s gonna get done again....Ed’s a (bit) wiser these days

Juventus paid the majority of the agents fees.

Interestingly there isn't even an active Sancho thread on Dortmund's forum, not one that has been bumped in the last few days anyway. Guess they think that this transfer is dead.

But we didn’t pay the agent in that deal as far as I know. Juventus did
