Full back position is by far our biggest weakness?
We should look to do something about both flanks. Normally I would wanna buy 2 FB's but given the corona stuff and that we shouldnt be spending as much signing one is okay but we need to promote Laird too.
So if we sign this guy and promote Laird Im down with that.

We really really need this signing though.
I would go as far as saying that in terms of improving our weak spots this one is even more important than Sancho as full back position is by far our biggest weakness, right wing not nearly as much.
How are our full backs our biggest weakness. Sure, we offer no where near as much going forward as say Liverpool but I’d class Shaw and AWB as ‘good’ full backs - not world class or even the potential to be, but good solid full backs. Both very good defensively and decent in build up play. No final product though, but not many teams can compare to say Liverpool in that area.

We have better full backs than City, Spurs, arguably Chelsea and Arsenal. Probably Leicester now too after they’ve lost Chilwell.

We do need an attacking left back like this though, for something different and because a) Shaw is injury prone and b) been told on here Williams is actually a right back.

Our biggest weakness is our wings. Not just RW, obviously Rashford is great but he’s not an out and out winger. We need that creativity back, a player who can deliver consistently from out wide and create goal scoring opportunities. Rashford is good as this but I think he’s still getting used to that side of his new role at LW. Could be another breakthrough season for him this year turning into a Ronaldo or Nani type winger.

This all feels like someone putting our name in the press to get a better deal.

He's apparently taken any mention of Madrid or Sevilla off of his social media too

Laird has 20+ goals from LB in the u16s. So nah, think I’m right.

May as well ask you the same question. Why try and correct people when you obviously don’t know yourself?
Bojan scored 1000 goals at youth level but that didn't mean anything once he got to the mens level.

Laird is clearly talented but he has a lot of work to do. Being physically much better than your oppponents can prove much harder once you come up against men already faster/stronger than you.

I'm not so certain he will just waltz into the first team like some people expect, but hopefully we manage to give him a chance.

I really hope we get this deal over the line, feels very similar to how I felt about Van de Beek - promising, potentially world class player available at a good price, the sort of deal we never go for, would instantly improve our squad options.....

I never thought we’d do that once. If we do it twice in one window I will start to reconsider my views on Woodward, the board and our transfer committee.

On the face of it, if the news this morning is actually from a journalist based in Seville then they might be some truth in it.

The journalist in question was talking about Rakitic going back to Sevilla a week before it was made official (although I don’t know the inner muppetry workings of Sevilla and that was on the cards anyway)

Disagree completely. RW has been a problem for years and we need competition for places up front.

If this is true, he is surely ours? His wages were even put out there. Not sure though why do we need to pay 10M more euros if 20M is the price to get him
Probably because there was other clubs interested too apart from United and Sevilla?

Under soil heating.
Him and Greenwood started following each other on Twitter so I am choosing to believe this is definitely on.

Maybe to be ensure there is no buy back clause in the contract?

It was Instagram, he is followed by Greenwood and DeGea (although DeGea does not necessarily mean much because they are teammates in the national team).

I don't think it said 20 million was the price, it's what Sevilla were willing to pay. As per reports from AS, price was set was around 25-30 million euros.

Makes sense that. Or perhaps Sevilla may have inflated the price abit to make publicly known that they lost out due to the fee. Either way let’s get this done and hope Romano are on this soon as well

Perhaps that Sky Sports commentator last night did know something about this deal after all. I keep trying to remember his name but for the life of me it just won't come to mind

I guess you didn't get the memo that players are only as good as their last 3 games. Shaw has been injured and becoming world class as we speak. While AWB had a series of poor performances hence must be terrible.

Although I guess you are exaggerating when you say '10 times'.. the difference isn't that large either between Shaw and AWB.
10 times is hyperbole but I'm dumbfounded that United fans would argue that Shaw is better defensively.

He also follows Pogba on Instagram. Not much in that on the face of it of course but he tends to only follow Spanish players.

I too follow Pogba on IG. But Paul is a mega star so naturally players will follow him. Greenwood is the surprise one. Doubt they even know one another even after we played them in the semis

More than Greenwood following him, which is fairly random;he might just be a Muppet like us, the tweet by a local journalist in Seville is very encouraging
