We have a world class board and they are too generous towards managers who has given very little back. I feel like if Sancho doesn’t come this transfer window, he will come next one like Bruno.
Most of the reliable journalists are saying the deal is being worked on. People just get discouraged due to the deluded Dortmund briefs that are meant to make their fans forget they are a selling club.

It's on!

It's gonna be pandemonium if we don't sign him with all these hope briefs that we'll sign him

Jan links his podcast with the episode still not up. I honestly get more irritated by the man by the day. The minute this saga is over he's getting a big unfollow.

So bored to this "saga". There haven't been any fire or smoke in the last 4-5 weeks. And we have went over 1000 pages. How it is even possible?:D

What is giving some on here so much optimism that this deal is going to happen? Just curious to know cause anyone with a shred of credibility has major doubts on this deal happening.
Why I still think it will happen:

1. We bought VDB and tried to sign Reguilón even though Sancho was our priority. I think the difference between BVB's and our valuation can be around 20mm tops, and if we were missing only so much, we wouldn't have bought VDB in the first place but saved everything for Sancho and also wouldn't have been seriously in for Reguilón. So I think we either do have the money or were never serious about Sancho, just messing with fans (unlikely).

2. He's a type of player Woody usually loves: immense marketing value, record signing, everyone would be talking about us and the CEO's genius.

3. He's also the type of player Ole would love: young, British, full of potential, RW what we have been missing the most and great rotational option.

4. I think Ole is pushing very hard, must have made it clear who and why he needs the most, I believe he had already set some kind of conditions even before he was made permanent manager.

5. After all the mess during this window, they just have to make it just to save face, if it's financially possible.

Ironically, the only reason why I think it may not happen is that Woody tends to make mistakes in the transfer market and Sancho wouldn't be a mistake :houllier: But I hope we will be lucky this time.

I agree with this. It seems to me that Utd fans are put through the ringer during each window far more than for any other Club. Every big name player that is looking for a move is linked with us, even when completely false, before going elsewhere. When we do have genuine targets, successful or otherwise, the transfer process seem to go on forever, especially when our rivals seem to be signing players right, left and centre.

Is it too much to ask for us to sign players quickly? I wish the Club would just put out a statement saying we’ve ended our interest in a certain player because a deal wasn’t possible. If Dortmund can put out a statement to say Sancho is staying, surely Utd could put out a similar statement saying whether talks are over or if negotiations are ongoing. Either way it wouldn’t affect their negotiations. The silence just gives ammunition to WUMs and wannabe ITKs to play on our hopes. No confirmed news increases the distrust the fans have in the board and the Owners. I know they don’t care, but still....

Only Liverpool haven’t strengthened yet in this window, but I’d say their fans are pretty relaxed given how strong their lineup is. Thiago will be a bonus rather than a necessity, unless they lose Winaldum.

The build up to a transfer window is a time of hope and expectation. The press have us for months that deals have already been done and a certain player will join us. Then the window opens and..... nothing. Hope turns to anxiety and then on deadline day a signing such as Ighalo ultimately will lead to disappointment.

I for one, can’t wait for the season to start and the Transfer window to close. The only thing that cheers me up is that City have lost both Sane and David Silva and didn’t sign Messi.

This is the longest post I’ve ever written, but I’ve had a few sherries this evening so please forgive me.
Good post. I am tired of this never ending mindgames from the board and Woodward every window. I understand if they want to try lower the asking price but when that can’t be done - we have to be more resolute in the transfer business.

The problem is that clubs like Liverpool or Bayern seem to spend their money way better than we do.

When have we pulled off a signing, that completely outperformed the expectations?

Liverpool have done it with Salah, Mane and Robertson. I could also list more expensive guys like van Dijk or Alisson, who are homerun hits, too.
Bayern have done it with Kimmich, Davies, Gnabry and Goretzka, who were all rather low-profile signings and turned into worldclass players.

I blame our scouting for that mess. We always seem to focus on exactly one or two flashy targets very early and then don't even care about other players anymore. I don't think our scouts even look for lesser known players, who could have a ton of potential. I can't explain them reportedly rejecting Davies any other way ...
Supposedly Ed had the chance and didn’t sign Davies. Same with Bellingham. He also messed up the haaland deal and the Klopp deal and the sancho deal and so on....

This is becoming a joke! Solskjær is not getting the backing he deserves, when we miss out on CL football we spend more then when we make CL football, don’t get it!

Only thing keeping my hope alive is the fact that we still haven't looked into any alternatives seriously yet seemingly
