Yeah but age gets rounded up at Caf (by decade), which means that he is 30, and add 5 years for the contract and so he will be 40. Which is dangerously close to 50, the age when all footballers die.

RIP!
The Caf only wants us to sign 21 year olds, whilst crying in the Thiago thread that he joined Liverpool at 29.

A Portuguese source claiming we are really close to a transfer but havent sealed it yet..
Never happened before..

This is clearly Porto desperately trying to get someone to bid before his contract runs out. Not falling for this shit again.

But we’ve agreed terms with Telles? So we are surely going to bid?

Sancho at 120m is not a good value for money, though I would like us to sign him.

Upgrading one of our weakest position for 20m is not a bad deal. For what is worth, I do not know how good is this guy, but if they think that he is good enough to start, then 20m ain't too bad.
Why does everyone keep saying that?

Let's ignore Covid for once. We have Felix, Dembele, Mbappe going for more money than that. Sancho has proved himself over 2 seasons in a top 5 league.

The value stuff isnt just valid here anymore because that's the going rate these days. That's what Neymar transfer did.

If you mean that we shouldn't be paying 120m on 1 player due to covid, I will leave that to the Utd finance team.

Better 120m on one player than in Glazers dividends.

Tbh it is actually good to have someone share the assist making free kicks and corners. I was speaking to a friend who admittedly didn’t play to a great level, was youth team at Fulham and QPR (same side as Raheem). And he was just saying after a match of running and taking every corner you start tiring out, it’s a lot of energy pinging the ball into the box. So if Bruno’s just made some bursting run across the pitch and it goes out for a corner he can let someone else take it.

There’s also the taking a corner taking from left vs right with your favoured foot.

We’ve apparently agreed personal terms with Sancho, Telles, Reguilon and many more this summer. Obviously bollocks.

I’ll believe it when we actually strike a deal with the club.

Mbappe is an elite striker and many levels above Sancho imo. I think Barca and Atletico were massively ripped off for Dembele and Felix. But you are right in saying these fees set the tone for every future transfer.

It's actually like Football Manager now, offer 8 million for a 16 year old youngster who has high potential, selling club comes back saying they want 105 million. Madness.

Transfer fees being capped would be great, but it would just mean shady backhanders all the time.

Anyway, back on track. I hope we do get Telles. Bargain price for somebody who could take Shaws spot quite easily, especially when Shaw could get injured shaking his hand on arrival.

@SportingCP96 Give us your opinion on the player too mate..
Alex Telles I believe will be an obvious upgrade on the left back position for United. He is a very capable defender and is a threat on the offensive end as well both with his good set piece taking ability, crossing, and shooting. He will help solidify your defense for sure,

Telles has been the best left back in the league every season he was at Porto IMO and I think most followers of the leagues opinion. Based on the fact Porto are in financial troubles I have no doubt United got him for a good fee which makes this a no brainer. Telles also has mileage on his legs as by this stage in his career he is experienced for a championship winning team and CL constant.

All in all solid pickup for Manchester United. Will be be a "world class" left back? at 27 already I would say no but I think at the moment he is a starter in this United team and helps improve the team.

Hope this helps mate!

Btw should we be giving him a 5 year contract? Wary of more deadwood being added to the squad.

I barely watched him play, from the videos I watched he looks like TAA type player. Not a ball carrier but very good delivery and set piece taker.

Thankyou very much for the info on the player mate, it's much appreciated.

He sounds like a player we could really do with aswell, especially in attack.

I just saw a clip and all that's there is crossing, shooting and at set pieces. Is his general play actually good? Ideally I'd want us to get a younger fullback in who we don't have to replace soon.

This place has become a cesspool. People just want to moan and feel victimized. We're at a stage where everything the club does has to be seen in a negative light while everyone's else doing are some sort of smart decisions.

Same people sitting here moaning about Telles age are the ones moaning about Liverpool getting Thiago and cursing our board for missing on him(despite us merely having vague interest).

People just want to be up in arms and complain about the club and how they hate everything the club does, how everything is so much better elsewhere and how the big bad club that is Man United is making them suffer the poor victims.

I would prefer Telles to Regulion. Watched him a fair few times and I feel his defensive defencies are blown out of proportion. He's a solid defender, who can be caught out at times due to his offensive instinct.

A team such as ours should be dominating our opposition and he will help in that department heavily. He's got top notch delivery and is pretty effective in playing balls into dangerous areas which would do wonders for Rashford's game imo.

Most of all though, he can be relied on throughout the season

People keep saying that because it's 120 million. The likes of Countinho, Griezman were far proven than Sancho and their huge 100+ transfers turned out to be duds. 120 million is a lot of money which some people simply can't grasp.

Dortmund have already fleeced another club with their absurd valuation of their player, so is being careful and reluctant to pay that amount is entirely understandable.

All the recent 100+ million transfers have been nightmare for paying clubs, none of them have worked so far. All of Felix, Dembele, Countinho, Griezman have so far been huge waste of money. I for one I'm glad the club isn't just willing to caught up that amount of money especially if we factor what has transpired the last few years with transfers exceeding 100 million.

It can get pretty bad in the summer when we haven't signed the expected reinforcements.

James Ducker is also reporting that we're in talks to sign Telles.
I saw his twitter, couldn't find anything except retweeting Jason Burt's story.

I think there is something going on for sure, so many journalists have reported this.

No idea about the quality of the two players but purely based on principal I'm happier with the player being our own rather than a loan deal for a player who has half his mind left Madrid.

Hopefully this guy adds a lot to the squad if we do sign him.

So is he better than Reguilon?
My gut feeling from the outset has been, yes.

Based on what I’ve seen from both live which isn’t a vast amount.

Gut feeling also tells me that Shaw is still going to be our starting left back due to his linkup with Rashford (who was dreadfully out of form since the restart.) Shaw being defensively superior to both players, then add the Rashford linkup and I can’t see either shifting him from the starting 11.

From the Youtube videos, it appears he is not very good at linking up and not very quick, but give him half a yard and he can put in a wicked cross each time. We really needed a LB to compete with Shaw and give him rest which will be extremely important this season with barely any gap between matches. It will also allow Williams to be moved to RB and compete with AWB. Hopefully we get it done.

Confused by this, it sounds like a word problem in Maths.

In three years Alex Telles will be half my dogs age, my dog is 57, how old is Alex Telles?
And its also wrong. In three years he'll be 34 in four years.
